@@TheGardenNerd Thanks! Yes but most of them are young and not producing fruit yet. My oldest one was about 18 years old and died last year and now my oldest one is about 7 years and only 6 are producing fruit now. I actually have 14 in the ground and 18 in containers! thanks for your videos!
Can you do a video on fruit tree spacing? We have a 6 ft pomegranate tree and my family planted a loquat tree 4 ft away, also a mulberry tree 3-4 ft away from the pomegranate tree. We want 10 ft trees Is this a problem? Thanks and love your videos!
Just bought a small loquat tree living in zone 10b NSW Australia. Thank you for the tips ! I put mine in our North Facing atrium just outside the washroom . It gets sun being in the southern hemisphere but filtered with mesh roof and palm out and above. Fingers crossed it isn’t too hot being in a fabric pot we will keep an idea as per your advice .
Wow. Fellow garden nerd here. I've gt a few loquats but only 1 in ground. Facing north in shade. Blew all my other trees out of the park. This video is awesome reinforcement of info to make me experiment more with g9od shade for the others. Thanx for the vidz Peace N Love
Ya I Killed 8 baby loquat trees! I was cutting leaf's! :) Reached my limit, so I bought two more loquats their really happy! Breath get up :) 10/10 A + Thump's up! :)

Great video, your loquats are beautiful. It must be the low humidity in addition to the high heat that requires the loquat to be planted in shade in Arizona. I’m in Central Florida and my loquats are in full sun with no leaf burn, and boy is it hot here.
I have several mature Loquat Trees in zone 9a Central Florida four are in full direct sun and they get loaded with fruit, I have several that are in partial shade, and they do not fruit as well. I fertilize spring and fall, and they get plenty of rainwater so I do not need to water at all. So I guess it all depends on the Zone and conditions?
Wow a friend of my daughter gave use 3 seeds i gown them in a pots, she’s took one, I’m waiting for the warmer weather to come to lane them in the garden,
Love your enthusiasm lol. I have 2 and growing about 20 seedlings from the ones I ate that were imported from Spain -- the fruit was huge! Any tips on potted ?
Great video, lots of info. I’ve killed two loquat trees so far but with all the information in your video I’m going to try again but this time from seed.
I think someone mentioned on your mulberry video that you can make tea out of leaves. You can also make a tea from the loquat leaves. Dry it in the oven low temperature till bridle and then grind down in a blender. The tea taste like a green tea though it is red in color. You could probably to into to herbal tea business with some of the trees you have. Ha!
This was so helpful! Thank you! It seems like most fruit tree videos out there show how to repot it or stick in the ground. ........But that's like one day, and I'm sort of hoping for information on the other 2,000 days I'm gonna have this tree? ;'D So anyway this was very helpful. Thanks!
But I prefer the loquat for my edible landscaping since it's an evergreen. I'm hoping someone here post success with propagating the shoots. (I don't think my tree survived our Texas Snowstorm)
We got a big snow load on our low quats this year and although some of the tree is fruiting there are a lot of dead leaves now and some dead flowers that didn't end up fruiting. Should I go through and take out the dead leaves and cut off the dead flowers? Please help!
Interesting... i have my old tree in mostly full sun, and it seems to be happy, though I do agree that it might be happier in a more shady location (USDA Zone 10a (SoCal)). As for fertilizing - I found this to be very tricky with loquats. I've tried all kinds of natural fertilizers/mulch to get it to grow/flower well, but in past years, I've had issues with it not wanting to flower (not even 1 flower), despite my use of high phosphorus/potassium (low nitrogen) fertilizers. This year - I did nothing but water it, without adding any fertilizer, after mid summer and it's now throwing buds out like crazy; go figure. Maybe I was too busy 'loving it to death'(?).
Hi I grew a apple trees from a pip,had it in a big pot for about 4 years then p put it in the garden ,it’s grown big, we trim it every year,we do get apples on it,but Harf them get holes in the fruit so no good to eat, is there enythink I can use to stop this ,so we get heathy apples, was thinking chopping it down if this keep happening,😢
If the holes are from birds, you can get netting to cover your tree. If the holes are from worms, use neem oil to keep pests off, and cut any low hanging branches
Great video...but it is a fallacy that drips will not deep water...they are used in several arid places of the World to GREAT success...drippers run longer will actually provide rood depth AT LEAST as far as those bubblers do. I have a 24 yr garden with nearly 600 plants PLUS 7 raised beds & the majority of it is on drip run early, deep & infrequently....cheers !!
Thanks for the comment! And I'll never argue with someone who has that much experience. I try to talk to beginners on my channel, and I've found that beginners have no idea how much water their plants need. They don't realize that there are different emitters that put out more or less water. Many just buy the first drip they see and hook it up and let it be. Then they wonder why their plant is dead 3 days later. So to combat that problem, I just encourage all to start with bubblers because that will ensure their new plants are getting the water they need. So I agree with you, I just feel like with beginners I have to keep it clear and simple and talk in more absolutes. Thanks for the comment and for watching!

I have a loquat tree that does not produce fruit for at least the last 3 years, I don't think it even grows the flowers in the first place. I have been searching utube for this problem and cannot find this problem mentioned anywhere..By the way, it did produce fruit before. I live in australia and any suggestions or information about this problem would be greatly appreciated.
It depends if it was grown from seed or if it was grafted. If grafted, by 3 years it should yield. If grown by seed, I think it's around 7 or 8 years before you see fruit
Could you please tell me when to prune loquat trees? I’ve had for three years, is doing well, but it hasn’t given any fruit; not sure what I am doing wrong….. thank you!
Yes, that's getting a little cold for them, but they should still be able to be grown there. Gibe it a shot and you'll hopefully be enjoying delicious loquats soon! Good luck and let me know if you have questions.
I started 3 trees all got burned, and died. I am at 10b with mild sun few hours a day but the tree didn't survived. I will try 1 more time in the shades.

How much luck have you had with that? I am on my second tree trying to grow in a pot.
The loquat fruits growing in the semi sunny spots that give a proper amount of sunlight are juicer and more sweet!
Great video could you recommend a prefered soil PH number. Im growing a few in clearwater fl. Cheers!

Yes, I have 1 on the north side and it grows and fruits great!

Are there any other trees you know of that would do well in mostly shady spots besides loquat?
Honestly not that I'm aware of.
Paw-paws are an "understory tree".

Pawpaw
Starfruit
Yours is so close to your house foundation. That isn't a problem with the roots as the tree gets larger?
No, that's never been an issue for me. Water correctly and the roots have no reason to damage the foundation. Especially tropical trees.

Mine has for 3 years in a row now. So I'm going to say yes.

Can they do full sun in Louisiana?
I'm not super familiar with Louisiana, but from what I know, they should do just fine in full sun there.

Yup! I currently have one that's fruiting and is pretty much full shade.

Pas vraiment.
Isn't a little close to your house? Don't they damage structures?
No. Especially with tropicals. If watered correctly, tree roots grow down, where you want them, and wont hurt your foundation or anything else.

It's been 2 and a half years. They grow fast!
