If you are employed and have a 401K plan an alternative is to borrow from that. You pay yourself back at a rate of 9.25 to 9.5 currently.
not necessarily, you need to look at the overall picture. especially if it's going to be a large dollar amount. all 401Ks will take your payment from your paycheck, you don't have any other option. so if you're payment is $400 as an example they will be taking $400 from every single paycheck when you get paid regardless if you get paid weekly or biweekly. people will need to look into it and see if they can afford to live with $400 less each paycheck, as well as reduce and control their spending for the payback term they picked. the majority of 401Ks do no let you do extra payments, you either keep doing the regular payments until you're done or pay the full amount all at once to stop the automatic payments. this is a better option if you have no debt and let's say you're planning on purchasing something big like a car. take the money from your 401K and buy the car as you will be paying yourself back plus interest.

Myself, I got in trouble by swiping and only paying the minimum payment. Next thing I know I'm 3 CC deep in debt. Couldn't get out until I learned VB.

Can you do an update with her. She can move everything to the CLC but can easily put more money on those cards if the habits are not addressed. I think she should close some cards. I like to spend money as well, but sheesh.
People need lessons on expense control more than on debt management it seems. My wife thinks that more salary means more expenditures rather than more savings/investments and creation of generational wealth. It's really difficult to make people understand this.

yes, I've been doing it since December, my debt is down from $30K, just to little over $13K as of yesterday. it would have bee less, but I just paid the insurance from my jet skis in full instead of doing payments.
