I watch a lot of Pokémon related RUclipsrs and honestly, I always find the way you talk much more informative than all of them combined. Genuinely feel like you’re trying to help and I’m so happy to finally hear someone say “collect what you like” I’ve always bought cards that stand out to me personally and if it gains value - brilliant, but for now I just enjoy looking at the cards in my folder and the odd few I send off PSA for displaying. Cheers bud!
In relation to my hobby I've overpaid and sold stuff at notable losses, but the amount of times I bought something just before it started skyrocketing or sold something for considerably more than I bought it for more than makes up for it. All in all you have to take a birds eye look at these things. Sometimes you'll make mistakes when it comes to buying/selling; sometimes you'll get unlucky. Likewise you might make a shrewd well timed decision; and others it might be down to good fortune.
still working on my complete psa graded 1st edition base-neo full sets. on hold for now but im just waiting to start pulling the trigger again goals baby!

Hi Scott, please can you help me with investing? What is the best card or item to buy for $1 which i can re sell for $1,000,000 in 1 months time? Thanks Daddy Scott
I buy sealed booster packs and just dont open them, been doing it every time I've been paid for the most recent sets of magic and pokemon, for the past ten years or so. No idea how much they are worth now, but your right, I do it because I enjoy collecting sealed product and I spend money I won't miss. I can't afford these high end cards, so I'm happy just seeing how my boosters pan out over the years. Who knows, could be a good investment for my kids to take off me in 50 years or so, I've got no intention of selling them in the mean time.
why did LC not move in price when all other sets booster box prices spiked? you discussed that wonky $10k threshold, but neo destiny and skyridge flew past it with no hiccups. LC is still one of the lowest pop sets in total and the lowest psa 10 OG charizard art out there.
At least if u buy what u like even if the value drops it was something u liked anyway :) my psa collection is small but one of my personal treasures for sure :) keep up the good work and i will keep watching
Only one way to find out! But seriously I discuss my sales, some of my purchases, whats going on with modern, vintage, and what I believe is currently underrated and overrated. Basically being as transparent as possible while providing a monthly impression of the market.
Can you explain us how the Goldstar cards got expensive some years ago. I think it was some RUclips Hype, but I got no proof or idea how. Thx for free education.
Hey smpratte, I have a couple of questions: 1. Is Troll and Toad becoming the primary market bad? A very clear trend on the eBay market for Pokemon cards is that eBay prices are now being based - almost solely - on trollandtoad.com. I fear that such a trend could set Troll and Toad up to be the primary market (allowing them to control the monopoly on prices/value) and eBay to be a secondary market. 2. Jumping off of the previous question, are you aware of how Troll and Toad even determines prices because I’ve often found their prices to vastly undervalue certain cards? (perhaps this is also a risk to Troll and Toad becoming the primary market - the hobby losing its collector essence) Thanks for everything you do, smpikachuuu Sorry for the comment on the youtube vid AND the email ;0
i have been buying off Troll and Toad for about 3 years now, there prices go according to availability and sales for example if they have 20 copies of a card that is listed for $10USD if none sell they slowly decrease the price until every copy is sold once they have sold out they up there prices until they get more copies of that card again and the cycle continues but if they are unable to attain copies of that card they will raise the price continuously until its even higher than Ebay prices
Love your videos. I’m a sports card collector but I’m looking to pick up a graded 9 or 10 base set first edition pikachu for nostalgias sake. Could you please tell me what I should expect to pay for say a PSA 9 red cheeks pikachu 1st edition ? Thanks !
can someone tell me which is the best place to buy pokemon cards? and how to use its filters because i'm looking for a red cheek first edition pikachu psa 10 and don't know where to find it
Another person had this exact same question. Check out sold listings on ebay. that will have the most current and accurate data of the cards market value.
Loved the comments about shifting your collection from one thing to another over time/optimizing. It certainly isn’t flipping if you hold it more than a year although I personally have a core collection I will most likely hold indefinitely. 😉 I can Definitely say I only buy what I like! 🔥 @charizardperfection
I kinda disagree. I think if you are going to "invest" in collectibles then you need to remove your personal biases from the investment decisions. From what I've noticed, if you are going to invest in collectibles then you need to especially look at what the kids are into. Why? Because eventually these kids will become adults...and they will start working....most likely they will still be into collecting to a certain extent. I would say a big part of Pokemon card collectors are basically millennials that grew up collecting as a kid. Another thing you need to look out for is collectible fads like beanie babies, furbies and baseball cards after 1970s or so. Funko pops rings a bell to me for current collectible toy fads. Luckily, the younger generation likes pokemon due to the ongoing tv shows and movies so the value of cards might continue to grow as these kids become adults. I can't really think of any other collectibles that currently exist that are popular with kids.
Man Pokemon collectors liquidating hard and buying up yugioh. I'm seeing the collector market slowly lose confidence in the brand. Thank God I'm way more invested in yugioh 😂

You needed him to tell you that?
I appreciate my losses so much. Theyve taught me so much and, in hindsight, have made winning easier.

Just a quick question about your patreon, what are the patreon videos usually about? Market trends, your purchases, suggestions, bubbles,...?
