    Hi Prateek, this is the best explanation I've come across of S/R.... the main differetiator seems to be the Short Sellers role, not just a normal seller who has their Take Profit targets

    Thank you. You did a good job. I watch alot of video like this, but can we get beyond the basic supply and demand . The market doesn't function simple as that . Many time we think price hit support or ceiling then it breaks through.. how do you know it's a real level. That's a question that I know many RUclipsr can't tell

    • @PrateekSinghLearnApp
      @PrateekSinghLearnApp  Год назад

      Glad it was helpful! Thing is - we can't really know the exact supply or demand zones on a price chart. All we can do is anticipate and make some sort of probability around it. Trust me, no one can know what the real level is...

    Can i ask a Q? at 4:33 im a little bit confused, so how does the short seller loss a profit when he/she selling it in Rs 500 is it because of the stock when it increases how does your loss is increasing when ur just selling it at Rs 500, can you explain it more neatly and clearly ?

    • @Maharajan1204
      @Maharajan1204 4 года назад +1

      Code Breaker Short sellers are betting that the stock they sell will drop in price. If the stock does drop after selling, the short seller buys it back at a lower price and returns it to the lender.

    In the TataSteel example, when you say the Short seller loses 10 rupees do you mean that he has 10 rupees less (in total financial worth, not just actual rupees) than what he would have had had he not sold his stock or do you mean that even after having sold his stock he will still owe someone 10 rupees?
    And when the stock goes up does the buyer receive actual money making up the difference between the stock's value at that point and its previous value or is it just that his stock is now worth more money?

    • @PrateekSinghLearnApp
      @PrateekSinghLearnApp  8 лет назад +1

      +sicktoaster If you have short sold 100 shares of Tatasteel and it drops 10 Rs, you have made a profit of 100*10 = 1,000 (assuming you close your position now). If prices went up you would lose money. Hope that answered your question?

    • @sicktoaster
      @sicktoaster 8 лет назад

      MarketScientist
      You say "Assuming you close your position now", so that means if it drops you still technically don't have more money (though the value of the financial instrument may be relevant for some credit and tax purposes), unless and until you sell your short back. Is that correct?
      As for if it goes up will they actually send a bill to you saying you owe them money?
      Or by saying you have "lost money" do you just mean that the financial instrument (the short) is now worth less than it was at the beginning and so if the person were to sell it they would make back money (in terms of real, hard cash, not financial instruments) to an amount less than what they initially spent?
      I suspect you mean the latter, but I'm just trying to clarify. That difference would be particularly important as far as measuring the risk of going into debt.

      Sicktoaster , in your original message, in the TataSteel example, when we say the short seller loses 10 rupees, we mean that he has 10 rupees less in total financial worth than what he would have had had he not gone short on the stock, and not that he will owe 10rupees to someone. Similarly when the stock goes up, the buyer doesn't receive any actual money and it's just that his stock is now worth more money, that's it.
      Hope your doubt is cleared now.😊

    How can a short seller make money when prices go down?

    • @PrateekSinghLearnApp
      @PrateekSinghLearnApp  10 лет назад +1

      When you "short" a stock you will profit when prices decline. Short sellers loose money with prices rise.
      Hope that helped answer you question.

    • @PrateekSinghLearnApp
      @PrateekSinghLearnApp  6 лет назад

      Lots of supply (people putting sell orders). Exactly the same as any market, demand and supply makes the markets move.
