I feel like our videos this week are really going to complement each other nicely haha. Nice new kit and great looking beer! Smash beers are a great and delicious tool for improving as a brewer!
Nice SMaSH here Trent. A lot of great info was provided in this video. One thing I think you did very well was show how easy it is to make a SMaSH czech pilsner. Finally: I dig the random Zelda music in the background lol. Cheers man!
My first attempt at brewing a lager was a Czech Pils over the summer and it turned out amazing! I also used 802 and lagered it for 5 weeks. I brought it to the brewery I work at and both the head brewer and general manager were very impressed with the final result. I also agree with you that smash beers are severely underrated. Simplifying your recipe can really improve your brewing skills.
Great tips! Definitely helps you get to know different ingredients to build your own recipes in the future! I still make smash beers to this day for that reason! Great job! 🍻🤘
SMaSH beers are fantastic! Sometimes you just have to get back to basics. My personal favorite is a Mosaic SMaSH that I made using Imperial Dry Hop yeast. Great video Trent! Cheers!
I think you and I are on the same brewing schedule. I just tapped my Czech Pils and based on what you hinted to the other night your next video is what’s in my fermenter now haha! Cheers 🍻
It´s fun to read the comments and watch the contrast how the Czech Pilsner is tasty and so on, but people from Czechia, like me, are over drunk of this and slobber for brewing beers like IPAs... Or at least something different than lager, you know... 😅 But! Absolutely love your vids!
Great video! When you stuck the filled keg in your keezer I noticed it wasn’t on gas (or at least I think it wasn’t). I’ve been carbonating my beers while lagering. I haven’t noticed anything off, but am I just wasting gas? Should I wait to carb within a week of serving?
Man I'm really enjoying your channel! I have a question about the cooling coil, are you using it with a glycol chiller? How are you keeping it cool? Thanks!
Right now I’m basically running a poor man’s glycol with a cooler and submersible pump with temp probe. Takes a lot of ice but works well. Glycol maybe someday when I have more space
I'm drinking one now - very similar to your recipe. I did add .25 oz melanoidin malt. Not real happy with the 2022 Saaz though. Nice beer, but a bit grassy / garlicy.
Great content, as always. Looking at your grist is that a quite fine malt crush? Do you find that the finer your crush, the better efficiency you get and better conversion. Be good to know. Thanks.
Thanks for your reply. I'm starting to realise that a fine crush with my biab/mesh basket is the definitely way forward. But for my brewzilla gen 4, I'll stick to a coarser crush for obvious reasons. I don't have any space to have a mill and so I order what crush I require from my supplier. Cheers 🍻
My first venture into all grain was SMASH. 100% voyager atlas paired with cascade hops. It’s great, but I’m trying to be patient and not drink it all before it gets a chance to age lol🥴
Totally agree. new brewers doing SMaSH until they make a good one / have their process locked down will ensure their first big/crazy recipe has the best chance of success Best SMaSH: Maris Otter x Bru 1 with Lutra Pilz x Mosaic with Chico

Haha I feel like we have been on similar wave lengths a lot this year, great minds think alike!

Haha good catch, I needed something with some upbeat grooves
hallo from Czech. Budejovice you did spel well.
Pretty much nailed the pronunciation of Budějovice. Good job :)
Phew!! I sat and practiced a bunch before recording 😅

I’m a big fan of this yeast. Will definitely be revisiting when I do dark Czech lager
I too will also be doing a Czech dark with 802 at some point down the road. Can't wait!
Love Czech pilsner! Great video as always, cheers Trent 🍻

Really Enjoyed your Video , Thanks ! 🐯🤠
love the simple beers! Great video.
SMaSH beers are fantastic! Sometimes you just have to get back to basics. My personal favorite is a Mosaic SMaSH that I made using Imperial Dry Hop yeast.
Great video Trent! Cheers!
That sounds real good!
Some of the best brews I’ve made have been SMaSH beers I’ve tried from leftover
Looks rad!

Heck yea! We got good taste I guess
@@TheBruSho That’s what I’m going with haha!
The Beer looks delicious! I must try it. P.s that fermenter seems nice ! cheers 🍻🍻
I am still doing extract brewing but really looking forward to experimenting with smash beers
Wow, a thing of beauty!
could this be brewed under pressure to speed up the time?
Love the gurudo valley
I like the zelda song in the background

Drew Beechum has a talk on Northern Brewer YT about “Brewing on the Ones” that takes Smash a little further. Always enjoy your videos.
did you put any pressure in the keg when you lagered it? or just kegged it and let it sit for a month? Awesome content btw!
Would it be possible to replace the Bohemian malt with something like a pilsner DME or LME?
Yeah for sure!
You are twining with Apt. Brewer ! Sometimes .. a lot of times ...Smash beers are better then the complicated ones.
Yeah I think I'll be doing a lot more smash beers!
looks yummy

Ha good catch, but I did put the gas on right after that and I usually carbonate while lagering

@@TheBruSho 👍…one other question, how do you think this would do at a higher temp using Lutra?
@@lifeofbrian4543 I think it would do great, Lutra is super clean fermenting. It just would be a “pseudo lager” if that matters to you

Yeah I do get a slight boost in efficiency when I crush fine. You really can’t go too fine with BIAB or these electric BIAB setups
Thanks for your reply. I'm starting to realise that a fine crush with my biab/mesh basket is the definitely way forward. But for my brewzilla gen 4, I'll stick to a coarser crush for obvious reasons. And the water? And the aa?
Smash beer or smashburger I'm in my friend 🍻🍻
A perfect combo!
Dry nice

Haha sometimes you can’t wait
Сможете сварить Жигулёвское? )))
Everyone talking about the zelda song but no mention of 'brewing with a killer robot'? Good choice btw
Haha good catch! Love that game
Simpler the better. Beer doesnt have to be fancy
Imagine a Czech guy watching this channel to learn how to brew a Czech beer 😅
SMASH beers = fastest way to be a better brewer by helping you dial on your system and learn ingredients the fastest.
👏👏👏
Very good Maris Otter joke
Haha I liked that one too
Golden rule 3 2 1
Ooh whats that? I've heard of the backup 3-2-1 rule but not the brewing one
I guess that is: 3 malt, 2 hops, 1 yeast
Mosaic tastes like cats pee. Or smells like cats pee. There’s a difference 😬
Totally agree. new brewers doing SMaSH until they make a good one / have their process locked down will ensure their first big/crazy recipe has the best chance of success
Best SMaSH:
Maris Otter x Bru 1 with Lutra
Pilz x Mosaic with Chico
