First, before I owned this model, I watched this video thousands of times. Then, I bought it, and I stopped watching it. Now, nostalgia is to powerful Edit: I'm back after even more years, and I feel nostalgic for my own comment
So true. I don’t do legos anymore. I pretty much stopped after I got this in 2017. I used to watch this, the 10213 “Adventure” with the same soundtrack, and the 60080. I saw so many vids on the 60080. Waited 2 years for it. Finally got it on Monday, March 20, 2017.
Just got mine the other day (didn't have enough money for it before) and was finally able to build it today. It is literally the coolest thing I have ever owned
When you open the rocket, all the details from it are actually what the real Saturn V had. Lego has made it great, with its good thinking. Imagine who created this and how much time he spent trying to attach the details, without glue. Amazingly done.
I always come back to watch this video, cause I remember after seeing this vid, as a kid, I have always wanted it. I got it, it was complicated, but worth it, and I still got it to this day. The music about this video is so nostalgic. Definitely one of my favorite lego sets of all time
My favorite part of Apollo 11 was when the escape tower jettisoned the crew capsule into deep space and the second stage continued in its orbit around Earth, eventually burning up with the Lunar lander.
First the Hayabusa, then the Space Shuttle, then the Mars Curiosity, and then THIS?!?! LEGO is NAILING the spacecraft!!! Next, I want them to do the Juno spacecraft, Cassini-Huygens, the Voyager probes, the Pioneer probes, and the International Space Station. If they do all of these with incredible detail, I'll be sh*ting gold nuggets.
Got mine a couple weeks ago. Built the whole thing in about 7 hours (really it was 6 but I took a lunch break). It's now standing on the back corner of my desk majestically.
Ah yes! He started with the second stage (Im pretty sure that five J-2 engines aren't powerful enough to lift a rocket from the ground), ejected the Command Service Module WITH the astronauts (plus the LAS on the top) into space and took the exploration upper stage to the moon. Very accurate...
Unfortunately, there’s no way to have an abort system shield cover one of the conical pieces used as the CM for this. And I think he showed the 2nd stage because the entire rocket wouldn’t fit in the frame. But, yeah, I definitely hear you.
The exploration upper stage?? what are you talking man, thats from the Artemis program lol, and yea the j-2's weren't powerful enough because they were designed as second stage engines, aka optimized for vacuum
10, 9, 8, 7, Ignition sequence start, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0, All engine running, LIFT OFF WE HAVE A LIFT OFF, 32 MINUTES PAST THE HOUR, lift off of Apollo 11, Tower Cleared!
Awesome set great details and the fact that they made the internals too is amazing also i love the small figure for scale....i never realized how huge these rockets are
at 5:24 you made a mistake that would result in not being able to connect the first and second stage properly. I made the same mistake and im sure you figured it out by now. but for anyone else, one of those tan 4x1s needs to go in one stud form the end of the grey 2x6. if you do what he did when you go to connect stage 1 and stage 2 pieces are gonna start falling off.
It's amazing. It's more detailed than the revel model in some ways, though less elegant, but way more durable. It's also huge and a really good price for a Lego set of almost 2000 pieces.
