Ngl when Lion Heart came out I absolutely have no clue that it was SNSD song. It sounds so generic, like your run of the mill girl group love song. The signature sound they had and taengsic harmony is gone just like that.
She is important in creating snsd girly vibes and singing high notes. Seohyun, Tiffany or sunny are always functioned as a harmonizer, chorus leading or backing up vocals.
SNSD without Jessica is not that BAD, but it will lack of girly vibes, so it sounds so strange. Actually Jessica biggest function in snsd is creating these vibes, she is the only one creating girly vibes.

For almost all title tracks they have Jessica and Taeyeon record separately for the chorus and when they sing together and the other girls record together. This time only Jessica recorded by herself, so she carries the chorus.

I think the Mr Mr chorus was a sum of jessica and taeyeon's voices together. or taeyeon's voice came out stronger than Jessica's softer voice (tho emphasized loudness bc of the lead position) that there was a neutralization and both voices could be pointed out

I think in Mr.Mr., SM gives the spotlight to TTS especially that high note for Tiffany and hide Jessica as a backing track instead so we can hear Jessica lead all chorus part of the song, not a highlighted part belongsTaeyoen.

The reason why I could made this is because Jessica's voice in the choruses is slightly different. The choruses in the Soul are all the same, so I couldn't extract the vocal.

The chorus was layered by two tracks. One is all member (a.k.a Tae/Jess/Ti/Soo leading), the other being Jessica alone, which you hear here.

Not unless they are leading the part or are harmonising. Usually hidden vocals are backups/lead/harmony which is what mostly main or lead singers do
