Accurate, HD dinosaurs + epic visceral music + Sir David Attenborough = Absolute masterpiece. Who else is super excited for the Prehistoric Planet series streaming on Apple TV+ May 23? How many of you dreamt of becoming a paleontologist or having a dino-related job one day?
🎼 ORCHESTRATION TIPS FOR COMPOSERS:
If you download the MIDI and, if you're a Cubase user, the project file, note some cool little details:
1) Rather than having a lot going on, notice how the orchestra and even the sound effects focus on reinforcing and coloring only four elements: Melody, Harmony, Rhythm and Texture. This is called the MeHaRhyTe orchestration method developed by Bleeding Fingers Music composer Anže Rozman who is one of the composers of the show. Check out his 4-Day Orchestration Workshop at Evenant feauturing a review of one of my tracks at the end: evenant.com/or...
2) Also, if you're looking for an epic orchestral sound, note just how much a few booms, wooshes and risers add. If you incorporate this it will inmediately increase the sense of impactfulness. Some of these effects may be used very upfront or subtly.
🎧 SOUND DESIGN TIP: That haunting intro "siren" is only a simple saw lead with some filtering and processing with reverb and doubled with a portamento cello with a ton of reverb also slapped on it. The pad underneath is doubled with violins in harmonics. Try taking your sound design to the next level by including or doubling it with instrument sample sounds.
Some of the sample libraries and synths used:
- Cinematic Studio Strings
-Cinematic Studio Solo Strings
- Performance Samples Solo Violin (freebie)
- Cinematic Studio Brass
- 8Dio Century Brass
- CineBrass Pro
- Performance Samples Pacific Toms (freebie)
- HZ Percussion Pro
- U-he's HZ Zebra (Synth)
- Spitfire Audio DNA Earth - 2 warm basses patch (You can't really hear it but it's adding a nice sub-bass)

DISCLAIMER: My MIDI covers are a way for me to study orchestration, composition and mockup-making to incorporate in my own music later. The MIDI roll displayed in this video has been simplyifed to show-case mainly melody, harmony and some basic percussive rhythms. I do not claim to be the author of this music but, rather a student of it. I gladly share my project files with those who are interested in using them for educational purposes. SEASON 2 INCOMING!!!
WHAAT?! WOOOW Yesssss
Yes
Fun fact the fish in the poster being used as the background for this video are Scalacurvichthys, not just some generic modern fish. This just goes to show how unbelievably detailed and well researched Prehistoric Planet is
I looked them up. So cool didn't know that. Thanks for sharing!
Has it been confirmed confirmed though? I don’t really believe until I see a source proving you’re right
@@PaleoFiles Look up the fish and compare them to the ones in the poster
iirc it's a speculative species made by darren naish, based on scala
That's beautiful!
1:07 My favorite part 😢
I love this melody.
Mine too. 🙃
Same 😔
Every time I hear it I get chills 😩
Same 💯%
The theme works better then the Jurassic park one does (not saying it is bad though). I’ve watched episode 1 and I’m already wanting every mesozoic creature at my doorstep lol
I can’t believe they got Hanz Zimmer on for this. Dude is up there with John Williams as being one of the most talented composers of the 20th/21st century
Hans’ work has been tremendously inspiring for me. Also the work of Anže Rozman, Kara Talve and Andrew Christie who co-wrote this show with him. The whole Bleeding Fingers team just incredible.
No wonder why it sounded more like it came from a Hollywood movie.
John Williams' Jurassic Park theme
Being 🤝 Amazing
Hans Zimmer's Prehistoric Planet theme
I'm honestly just as excited for the soundtrack as I am for the visuals
did you find it anywhere? I don't think its out on Spotify or Apple Music yet.
This show was everything I've asked for since When Dinosaurs Roamed America, which was one of the last good Dinosaur Documentaries. (Outside of Walking With Dinosaurs, but that came out prior.)
Has taken me back to my childhood definitely. I didn’t see the other one you mentioned but WWD had a big impact on me.
march of the dinosaurs
@@nanuqo2006 Visually, I didn't care for the documentary much. WWD and WDRA had better visuals. The only other dinosaur documentary between then and Prehistoric Planet that had nearly as good visuals as both was Dinosaur Revolution.
@@IsoSobek yeah but in that case the story kinda sucked and the talking head narrators were annoying when they started to pop up
@@nanuqo2006 which?
I just watched the Ep.1-3. What an awesome charismatic show. They really gave their all.
1:26 The 2 synchronized notes really drive how epic this whole thing is.
No matter how late I am, I will never skip a masterpiece from you. This is incredible 👍
❤ :') It means so incredibly much seeing someone write something like this. I'm not the best commentor but saw you uploaded a couple of videos recently I will get to. Thank you so much for your support!
@@arielyznardocomposer Thanks for the compliments and checking my videos bro, all the love to you and take your time, no rush I know you're really busy so I completely understand if you can't check any of my videos
@@sickmountains I'll try to keep up and thank you again. :)
" Some creatures could be called magnificent...
Or monsters...
Perhaps misunderstood.
But only a few creatures that roamed this earth
Could be called
All three!"
Definitely keeping this on repeat for the next few days. Since there's no piano tutorials for this piece anywhere I might try to use this 😊
Thanks so much. :) If you do a piano version I'd love to hear it! So glad the project files are helpful.
Yeeeeah, that’s a great remake! Congrats my friend! 😎🔥
Aw thanks man! 😀 Means a ton! Thank you.
Pensei que fosse o pirula
Qué composición mas poderosa, Hans Zimmer vuelve a mostrar por qué es uno de los mas grandes compositores de bandas sonoras de estos tiempos.
I love 0:15 cus when you look at the background and see that trex looking at you. Its cool to look at a massive predator front on whilst listening to that music due to its intensity
Same. Something about it is so haunting.
+E+P+I+C+ It would be a dream to hear it in a cinema!!! Great job Ariel!!!!!
Thank you so much Quetzal! I learned so much making this! I definitely plan to apply a ton of lessons to my original music. :)
Wow! It's very very good still! Bravo for this musical version! Can't wait for this series! I love dinosaurs! And I love Hans Zimmer's scores too! :D
Hey Marcos! Thank you so much. :) I'm so glad you liked and it built up your hype for the series! Me too, can't wait.
Honestly this soundtrack is incredible. It gives me chills. Imo it is up there with the classic Jurassic park theme, dare I say better than it. I could listen to this on repeat
Nothing will ever come close to the ORIGINAL JP theme. This lies on 2nd. Both are good.
@@robinator789 fair
@@ethoraptor9479 they're really good in their own places
@@robinator789 that is very true
@@ethoraptor9479 yeah and I like your PFP
Man
I can just imagine how good zimmers score for jurassic world could be
Funny you say that because my next video is going to be a remake of Jurassic Park / World themes sort of "zimmerized". I hope I get it right.
Micheal Giachinno is the composer for JWD,Hans Zimmer is for Prehistoric Planet. Definitely a coincidence since i’m a huge batman ost fan too
Esperemos que salga el soundtrack completo de prehistoric planet es una obra meastra
This documentary shows dinosaurs as animals living and thriving and not being blood thirsty monsters
So good. Hans Zimmer smashed it. And so did you. Brilliant cover.
Thank you. I've been a dino lover for as long as I can remember so this definitely inspired me and helped me learn tons. He and Andrew Christie who co-wrote the theme did a beautiful job.
0:40 mark my fave. Good job
i love this music
This was such a good show. Just absolute perfection for a dinosaur lover like me.
I am I the only one, or does this make you want to cry?
My god. I love this.
Means a lot. Thank you. Can't wait for the official release. :)

Late response but thank you so much! :)
Goosebumps.
Definitely has inspiration from Ark Survival Evolved
Hans Zimmer Guys ❤
Really love what Hans and Andrew Christie did with this theme. The rest of the score also produced by Hans with Anze Rozman and Kara Talve for Bleeding Fingers keeps giving me goosebumps. Just finished episode 2. Loving this series so much!
This is Epic!
Can't wait for the original version. So glad you liked this cover. :) Take care.
Wow!!! This is exceptional! Sooo glad I found this - THANK YOU!!!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💕
such an epic track 🦖🦕🦕🦕
They did an amazing job with the trailer and can't wait to hopefully hear the original release soon. In the meantime, so glad to hear you liked my cover. Thank you!
Just finished rewatching Prehistoric Planet, still a banger theme.

I though this is a nature documentary! Why does the soundtrack have to hit that hard?!
After doing some research on google: Oh....I see why.

This is a great remake mate! Sounds very close to the original!
Thank you! Appreciate it! I learned a lot from working on it.
Ah yes
😌
This is such a beautiful rendition!
May I ask, would you be okay with me using your orchestral rendition on my Twitch streams, as part of an intro or background music? I would make sure to credit you, and would do my best not to have it blocked behind a paywall (as much as the platform allows me).
Hello! Thank you so happy to hear that. And sure! I would love to watch your Twitch stream :) Just make sure Hans and Andrew Christie are credited as the original composers.
@@arielyznardocomposer Thank you!! I’ll add them of course, yes.
It would be a pleasure to have you! It’s here : twitch.tv/djigr . Usually, I stream on Fridays, I do live drawing of paleoart, sometimes I talk about my research (as I am an evolutionary biologist), and when there’s an interesting new study, I invite paleontologist friends to talk about it! I try to keep it in english, but we often derive to french, haha
I’m about to have a one-month pause (for holidays and conventions), but I hope I’ll have included your rendition until I come back!
I feel like y'all are sleeping on 0:40, best part (in my opinion)
Amazing job, can't wait for the show to come out! This theme fills me with hope for the future, we'll need to be brave just like our ancestors were in the past! ☄️🔥🌪️
BEAUTIFUL👏👏👏👏👏

@@arielyznardocomposer that's cool to hear!
I don't know if the creator will notice this, but I would like to use this for a Prehistoric Planet meme video that I want to make. I am not going to monetize them (my channel is unmonetizable anyways). I will credit the video, the channel owner, and probably Hans Zimmer as well.
Would love to see it!
@@arielyznardocomposer Thank you.
Here. It's really stupid.

El primer minuto no me gusta nada. A partir de ahí está muy guay, la verdad.
Awesome, but i prefer the original
Me too!
Funny how John Favreau went from making the “live action” Lion King, which tried to be so unbelievably boring in an attempt to be “realistic”, but then made this. Jesus Christ.
(Problem Solved) I hate to be that guy... but the MIDI itself isn't put together very well... When I load it into LMMS, there is a whole bunch of space in between the four sections and the whole cover is put into the same track which is called Haunting Dino Siren. This honestly wouldn't have been any different if I just simply took an MP3 version of the song and converted it to a MIDI.
Also there are a few automation tracks that load up and seem to belong to their own tracks, but of course since the whole song is lumped into one track it just sits there with no purpose.
Hey Damon, thank you so much for pointing this out, I wasn't aware that I had exported it wrong. I'll re-export the track one by one and upload it again in a couple of hours and write back to you.
@@arielyznardocomposer thank you. I really appreciate the time you are willing to put into fixing this issue. Hopefully it goes well.
Hi Damon! Problem fixed. Try again and let me know if it works this time please. :)
@@arielyznardocomposer thank you Ariel! Everything seems to be just fine now. Thanks again, I really appreciate you taking the time to fix this issue.
