How goofy to make this political. Morel has been making top-quality drivers for the DIY community for years, including some of the best soft dome tweeters on the planet. They sound like a bargain at $1200 a pair.
just a suggestion, as those specific comments are deleted, could the comments referring to the former comments also be deleted? that is, if the point is to keep out the division having nothing to do with speakers.
Ok, I respect that and all but let's not forget that Reagan was a Magnepan enthusiast. I hope I didn't meet the threshold 😉. But seriously, EVERYTHING is politicized these days. I come to channels like this to get away from all that noise
I still regret accidentally throwing away two beautiful Morel tweeters back in the early 1990s. They made (still make) drivers for the DIY market. Among the best sounding tweeters I ever heard. Beautifully built. Sound great!
Ran Morels in my car I used to have, and also currently have Morels in my truck. Absolutely love them, others that have heard them were also quite impressed by them.
They have been around for a fairly long time, but the company split into roughly 2. Morel Israel and Morel USA which became Renaissance Audio. Mikhael shut down Renaissance fairly recently. But it was around for 40 years. Mikhael is a friend.
These definitely left a positive impression on me at Axpona as well. went and visited them again at High End Munich and heard the flagship Sopran which was also very very impressive and looks and feels even more premium. Even their little wireless bluetooth Biggie speaker is fantastic!
I redid a pair of old, large Sansui 3-way speakers. I removed all the original components and replaced them with entirely new parts from Parts Express, including Morel tweeters. Love them!
Morel began making speakers in 1975, but, like Focal and Dynaudio, they originally were mainly an OEM manufacturer of drivers. When they began producing their own speakers, they were focused mainly on very high end designs sold in upper level audio salons with limited distribution, and were featured in reviews at Stereophile and The Absolute Sound. This is their first foray into more mainstream products with wider distribution. And, like Focal, they are also very well known in the world of car audio.
The morel tweeters are the most natural sounding and are only challenged by but not matched by dynaudio. Back when I was an avid speaker builder the only tweeter I would use was the morel. The real instruments like sax and brass just sound like they are "real". I own Dyanaudio towers but I may purchase these as a more focused point source option. These seem like a real good value as it would cost as much to diy these as to buy them as a professionally engineered manufactured product. It seems I knew about these tweeters probably when cheap audio man was in diapers! The "cool" sounding midrange is the sign of a well functioning crossover, at the bleed through on the crossover point is minimized. Morel tweeters are the epitomy of high power handling, reliability, yet rich nuonced non fatiguing detail unmatched by anyone.
Morel has always been very good quality and relatively expensive. Shocked at how “cheap “ these are. Will definitely give them a listen at Axpona’25. Historically the large voice coils meant the need for a LOT of power. Same for these??
Their drivers may be barely less sensitive than drivers with small voice coils, but this pays dividends at louder levels. Try pushing even the more expensive Seas or ScanSpeak mids or tweeters, and they compress like crazy. Morel drivers, on the other hand, keeps going with low THD... Plenty of measurements to be found online to show this :)
13:40 I put small blocks under the front feet of the speakers to tow them up slightly. It not only tames the "squark" but also helps to spread the highs a bit more.🎉
I have a soft spot for Morel drive units, they have always been good quality, well priced and great sounding. A few UK loudspeaker manufacturers have used morel mid/bass drive units with Vida units for the tweeters, Edward audio for one. The model is the sp1 and sp2
I have a pair of old duet by morel. Same build, 2way, 1.1 tweet and 160mm woofer. Absolutely another amazing speaker by morel. If you can find as used, just grab it!
I believe those ADS tweeters were made by Peerless, and were also used in the original Polk speaker, the Model 10, and some other early Polk models. The legendary Minimus 7 from Radio Shack, which was a less expensive copy of the ADS L300, used a very similar tweeter. ADS speakers are still amazing sounding, even by today's standards.
I looked at these speakers earlier this year and almost ordered a pair! They need a USA dealer for home audio! Tons of car audio dealers but none of them sell the home audio stuff.
Morel has always made good speakers. They just never got the breaktrough in home audio.. But in car stereo and drivers.. awsome. My Egglestonworks Nico Evo uses Morel drivers and they are giant giant killers :)

I have been with Morel for car audio for the past 15 years. From morel Tempo to Elate. Just love their speakers specially the tweeters. Never heard their home audio division. Waiting for the opportunity.
I had just replaced the tweeters in a old pair of 110lb JVC zero 1000 with morel ET 338-104. Unbelievable tweeter is the only way to describe them. The Avrya 633 would be an interesting review also. Thanks for the review.
I was on their website yesterday....they do have Morel drivers listed . Most likely these drives too. Not cheap.... the drivers alone will be close to five hundred for the pair.

Back in the late 2000's, there were many "haters" seemingly under the impression that Morel had a distinct coloration - however, recent measurements of most available drivers have clearly debunked this myth. Morel drivers have very little distortion, and unlike many drivers from ScanSpeak, Seas and other manufacturers, they have huge voice coils with massive power handling, which enables them to keep this very low distortion also at very high SPL levels. This is _extremely audible_ if you like rock/metal and other complex music at louder levels. I highly recommend giving Morel a go. Tip: If you like Dynaudio, you already like Morel. Man, you can’t afford a 1200 dollar pair of speakers? Here’s a thought? How about putting money aside for the electronics you want like the majority of us do.
@@Prometheus1979Exactly. Not difficult to put away $25/week$100/month for a year. Especially for something you really want.
Edit: That's what I did to afford a new mountain bike and vacation. Nothing wild. Total for the bike and a few accessories was 1k
If only David knew he would pave the way for so many future Giant killers.
Looks pretty tacky, sticking fake wood on the side, why. Looks way dodgy 😂. Happy Christmas 🎄🎄🎄🎄
You need some kind of turntable display so you don't have to lift and hold all these speakers....just put on a turning stand and do some prices right hand gestures.
Morels! Great speakers and mushrooms. Ps- thanks for showing the political noise to the door. Doing your part to keep YT from turning into the cesspool formerly known as twitter… that’s what I like about your channel; no drama (ok, maybe a little drama) just yakkin about hifi. Hope Santa is good to y’all.
Great video Randy! Thanks for the comments about politics. Your channel is a much needed break for those of us that follow that world. Actually, you’re channel has helped me keep my sanity on the days I consume too much news. Thank you. Thank you. Merry Xmas to you and your family.
Merry Christmas to you and yours! I appreciate you.
Great they are doing something a little different. 😇
Nice looking speakers
Great speakers. 🙏👍🏻
Tu contenido aburre, cada día un producto para alimentar el algoritmo. Ya no tienes gracia. Claramente se ha convertido en un trabajo monótono e insustancial. Lástima.
Feliz Navidad.
Appreciate you watching.
might be time to rebrand the channel
That could be an amazingly beautiful speaker, but the swoosh on the side makes it a real bowzer. But certainly with a listen.
It reminds me Swans speakers design :) Overall they are well priced and nothing more / special.
It’s 8:14pm, too late for coffee I’m afraid.
Randy is so normal 😂👍🏻
It looks like those things need some juice to get them going. Very nice appearance, though.
Tone deaf or just no vocal technique? (in the Strauss)
I’ve heard their mushrooms are pretty good too.
