- (7 Nov 2019) Hundreds of people marched in downtown Budapest on Thursday to protest at the visit of Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Many of the protesters, including pro-Kurdish and anti-war activists, came armed with Kurdish flags and anti-Erdogan posters and signs.
Erdogan was in Budapest to meet Hungary's prime minister Viktor Orban.
After their talks, Orban emphasised the importance of Turkey as a partner, saying that "without Turkey, migration toward Europe cannot be stopped."
Orban is strongly opposed to immigration into Hungary.
He described Turkey as Hungary's strategic partner in security and migration issues.
