You guys, I FINALLY did it! I found my perfect rescue cat. Fluffy, white, bright blue eyes! She loves tummy rubs and warms up more and more every day. She was rescued from a hoarder who had 29 cats, so I'm SO happy to finally give her the home and love she deserves! Most people that want specific types of cats would go to a breeder because it would be quicker and easier, but instead she adopted.
People are allowed to like certain breeds and colors, and have preferences.
At least she adopted the cat.
You are allowed to have preferences, sure, but just think about the “unwanted” cats & people are steadily breeding cats when they’re already way too many as it is.

Ya, my mum got that greed of cat (the one she bought), and it’s a really expensive type of cat, and you do have to be careful with what you feed them, they’re called ‘Ragdolls’ mine costed about £700..
@@Tamara-lg4nd It depends on the allergy, every allergic person is different. But it's not impossible at all! It's all about the hair! The labraddodles are know to be good for allergies, but some people will have a worse allergic reactions to them than to other dogs. My friend had to adopt a dog with short, not fluffy hair, those were the ones that gave no allergies to her father, not the labraddodles. And if labraddodles have the type of hair that doesn't give you reactions you can still go for other dogs (yes, even muts) with that type of hair. Hunting water dogs, poodles and muts that have those breeds in them could work for you. Search the specific type of dogs with that hair through adoption channels, with internet now there are more options. Talk with the shelters explaining the situation and if they find a dog that can suit you they'll let you know. Maybe you'll have to wait some time, but with decent breeders you would probably need to wait also

I have had cats for the past 60 years. Forty plus years ago, when my dentist's Persian had kittens, she offered me one once they were weaned. The day she brought it to me she said, "you need to understand that Persians will not always use a litter box. They will go where they want to go." Being a compulsive clean freak, I thought I wouldn't have a problem as it was a kitty and I had the patience to train it. Six months later I gave the cat back. It pooped in my bathtub, on the dining room table; the dining room chairs and any other place it wanted to. Since that day, I can't stand Persian cats.
Well...I'd like to be adopted by Annie. Free food, free belly rubs, free toys. Sounds like a deal to me!

Exactly! All the cats there were rescued, it's not like she went to breeder and got a ragdoll kitten.
I adopted my cat and I was very specific about not wanting a tabby. It's because two years prior my 15 year old tabby died after an accident and I didn't want to feel like I was replacing him. That's what it felt like to me. So I got a black and white cat.

Aw my tabby cat was poisoned by some freak 4 months ago and we are getting a cat next week from the shelter and I don't want to make it look like I'm replacing my old cat so now I'm getting a female cat that has 3 colours, she's mostly white but she also has orange and black and she's fluffy ( or like kinda fluffy)

That wasn’t a preference for her, it was a requirement. She didn’t even look at other cats. It’s sad that Louise is only approached because of her appearance. She was exploited and abused in a hoarding situation because of her appearance and this girl lost maybe 5 seconds to talk about her personality. And of course, first thing she did: create an Instagram for the cat.

Carolina Rosa it’s totally valid to have a preference. she didn’t feel like the other cats were right for her and there’s nothing wrong with that. everything happens for a reason and that’s what happened to her. i don’t know about you but if i were a cat in an adoption center i would never wish to be adopted by someone who wouldn’t connect to me. louise was approached for both her appearance and her connection to her new owner.

I went to a high kill shelter where I got my cat Bubblegum. She is all white with one blue and one yellow eye. I literally had a vision that I wanted a cat like that and when I saw her I knew it was fate! I also adopted another kitty who is all brown and fluffy and just a goof ball!

@@rattievomit so what? Who cares. They adopted or is that not enough. Certain breeds have certain behavioral traits. Her cats behavior will be pretty predictable regardless.
People also forget that BREEDS HAVE DIFFERENT PERSONALITIES. Some cat breeds are more docile, some more friendly, and some a bit more secluded. I got my sweet Turkish angora boy because I wanted a friendly and loyal kitty that’s intelligent. And he is! He knows how to give you paw, sit, he understands when you tell him no and he’s still learning all sorts of tricks. I love my baby a lot - It’s okay to like cat breeds because every breed, much like dog breeds, has different personality characteristics.
RowanWolf22 Most people who want a certain breed adopt because of appearance, not personality. I find it infuriating when I see an overweight German shepherd stuck in an apartment simply because people liked their looks. It’s good not to forget that side of the coin as well.

Was surprised that you took the cat home in a cat bed. You should if you don't already, have a cat carrier to transport her. You're going to need one to take her to the vet. If she weren't so relaxed and well mannered she couldve jumped right out of the cat bed and made a run for it. I know with cats I've adopted they've always required a cat carrier for pickup, for good reason.
that's why i think the adoption process shouldn't be this simple. i think the employees should at least ask her about basic cat knowledges and there's a risk that sb someday will just adopt them and resell them for a higher price.
They can also get scared in the car and hurt themselves but if they are in a cat carrier they can't really move around all that much.

As much as I disagree with people wanting a specific "look" to a pet (as it encourages people to treat pets more as trendy accessories and can lead to poor health for the animals like with pugs) I really appreciate that you adopted instead of buying from a breeder and encourage other people to do so as well.

Not if the looks of your preference is actually from multiple breeds. For example, I like calico, gray/silver tabby, or tuxedo. All of which can be from multiple breeds of cats

Plus cat poop contains toxoplasma which should not be in the water because it harms aquatic animals as well as humans, since a lot of treatment stations do not completely get rid of the parasite.

First of all the bringing dead animals to the door is a way of your cat to say "I love you to death and I consider you one of my own" so you should praise her for that
Secondly, have you checked in with the vet about the hairballs? There might be a problem if there are too many
Thirdly, feed a cat later so she doesn't wake you up early for food
And maybe get a better litter box. One that's closed

It's okay to have preferences. Take me as an example. I love dogs, all dogs. But my favorite go-to dog is a husky. So I would pick a husky over a lab. And my favorite style of a husky, is a brown husky with brown eyes and brown nose. If you gave me a choice to pick the black husky or brown husky. I would pick the brown husky because it matches my dream/preferred look. If I was given the option to get both I surely would and love both equally. I just have a preference.

In some cases the breeds that people want have more health issues. Preferences ok, but a cat/dog isn''t an ornament.
Same here, I absolutely adore samoyeds because 1. The fur and 2. They are hypoallergenic and I am more than allergic to almost everything but if I had the choice, I’d want a pure white one, instead of biscuit or cream. It’s just a preference

Also, hers wasn’t really a preference; it was a requirement. She wouldn’t even look at other cats. A preference can be ignored if you don’t have that option. A requirement is when you exclude all other options; if she couldn’t have the exact breed she wanted she would have bought it or keep waiting forever, and rejecting all other options for her perfect look.
I personally prefer Siamese cats (not the long-faced ones). Why do people get so butt hurt because people like certain breeds? She loves Persians and there’s nothing wrong with that! There will always be the right cat for you in a rescue even if its a specific breed. Purebreds get dumped and need homes too.

I have a Siamese too. His name is Gatos and he's perfect in looks. Just he hates people. I got him from my mom's friend since she was just going to throw her cat's kittens into a field if no one took them.

Maar Neen I agree we need to be more responsible with breeding. But if we stop breeding all together and spay/neuter every single cat out there. There will be no cats eventually, also people need a certain breed for allergies (why I have Siamese because my brother is allergic to normal shorthairs) or because a certain breed has traits match better for owners.
Yeah, it's no different from wanting a specific dog breed, like a pomeranian, or a schnauzer, or a dalmatian! Plus, she adopted anyways, it's not a bad thing.

Exactly. The problem was: the breed was a requirement for her, not a preference. If she wasn’t able to rescue that look she wanted she would have either gone and bought the cat she wanted or wait forever while other cats are at a shelter. She clearly just wanted the cat for the looks, almost didn’t mention the temperament and created an Instagram account before getting to know the cat properly. That is especially sad to hear, especially according to the cat’s back story of being used and abused for their looks. It’s a little sad that was the only reason her owner approached her as well...
My opinion is all cat are sooooooo adorable but my most preferred is a grey tabby cat with a white chest. And my Least preferred cat is a bengal they are so cute but are just high maintenance. I also love calicos, gingers cats are rlly cute too etc.
My younger cat is a calico, which is one of my favourite patterns on a cat because no two patterns are the same.
Speaking of laws of attraction, I wanted a cat for so long. A pregnant mummy cat started following me home and she was sooo friendly. After having her kittens, one of them poked his little head out under our fence while the others were somewhere else. This kitty chose me and I love him to bits and he has a forever home now :) his Insta is @kovuthekitten33

ATTENTION: Thank you to everyone for the nice comments, HOWEVER... There have been a few negative comments and to those people I just want to say I have had cats my entire life. When I was little, I would capture the stray kittens (who’s stray mothers I already befriended) using cat food in a rabbit cage. I would attach a string to the door and sit up on my deck and as soon as a kitten was in there, I would catch it and tame it, then find them homes when they were old enough. There was one point when I had about 14 kittens that I had tamed, most of them I found homes for. My own childhood cat was a stray I found and had her for 17 years... I think she was part main coon. Then when I moved to LA and lived in a house with 7 people, there was a grey striped, one eyed cat I befriended and I started taking care of her. I called her pirate. When I ended up moving, my roommates who stayed at the house promised they would take care of her, later I found out that they didn't keep that promise and they don't see her around anymore (which really upsets me). I actually used to be really depressed. I had zero goals, my life and surroundings were a mess, but luckily I learned about the law of attraction, which completely saved me. It taught me to set VERY specific goals for myself... like EXACTLY the kind of career I wanted to the exact kind of apartment I want to live in, exact kind of relationship I want and YES even the EXACT kind of cat I want... It taught me that if I had very specific goals and believe they could happen, that I can have those things, those things will be drawn to my life. I made a vision board last year and MOST of it actually happened, one of those things that I put on my board was a white fluffy cat with blue eyes... and here she is. I also specifically put that I wanted to adopt. And that's what happened. I was hoping that this video would inspire others who were thinking of BUYING a specific kind of cat that they can just as easily ADOPT instead. I wanted this to be a positive thing. To inspire not only to adopt instead of shop, but you can set very specific goals and they can come true if you have the right mindset. Thank you to everyone who has seen this video as a positive. I love my cat. I love all cats. If anyone is taking this as a negative thing, then that's you projecting your negative feelings on a very positive situation.

Glad you set up all those kind of goals etc... It is very interresting and inspiring BUT for me, choosing a cat is almost like adopting a baby... Are you going to use the law of attraction if you were to adopt a baby , like "I want it white, blond with blue eyes thank you very much"? that sounds extremely superficial... But then, at the end you did a good thing so YAY ! (But still...)

A tip for bathing cats: put a piece of dry paper towel on the place you want to shower her, put her on the paper towel, then she won't move around too much since she has a grip.

I've never bought, but this was actually my first time actually adopting! I've had plenty experience with cats though because all of my previous ones were stay/ferrel cats that I would tame.
Pet store cats usually come from shelters.
They do, but the problem is, if you buy in a pet shop, they will always sell more because they see that it works.

Initially I thought you were superficial then I thought actually we all probably do this in some way. Many adopters go for a mixture of looks and personality. You just has a very specific idea of what you wanted it’s no different to dog owners wanting a specific breed and then going to a home when one comes up. And at least she stayed true to her principles of whenever she got one it would be adopted. She still SAVED a cat! 😊

Same for me; I knew from the start that I did not want a white or orange cat, and I wanted a brown or grey tabby. I watched adoption boards online for a month and went to shelters 3 times looking for the right cat.

There is nothing wrong with purchasing a cat, dog, whatever, from a breeder. They all need loving homes and if you can't afford the price tag, then yes, adopt. If you can afford to buy from a responsible breeder, nothing is wrong with that either. Don't end up like those self righteous owners who remind everyone that he/she adopted their pets which in their ignorant minds, makes them good people.

Wait, what?! So, people are upset because she wanted a specific type of cat & that she bought a cat from a pet store instead of adopting from a shelter?! HUH?! Sorry for my french, but WTF makes the difference?! First off, MANY cats & dogs from places like Petco or Petsmart are from an adoption/rescue center, if you read the info that is provided, then those of you who are hating on this girl would see that, it's right there. Even if this was a full-out pet store where she paid hundreds of dollors for her pet, it's HER choice to do so, this is none of the business of anyone making rude & thoughtless comments about HER life! I have rescue pets & have worked in several rescue centers, I was a vet tech for years. It not unusual for someone to want a certain breed of animal, we got asked all the time about certain breeds in our rescue centers. Our pets come to us in different ways, some by pet store, some by rescue centers, some by an ad on Craigslist ( don't get me started on that) and some simply by fate. Don't hate on someone because they choose a different route than you would've, that's just wrong. This beautiful cat will have a loving life, that she wouldn't have had otherwise, if it wasn't for this girl, that's what's most important. Congrats on your new fur-baby OhhMyAnnie :)
People make hate comments on whatever they want to hate on. Whenever the person did a good thing or a bad thing you can't stop it. But in this case was a bad thing. Not counting with her taking kittens from mothers using traps, earned my dislike just there.

My three cats she’s not a specific breed but she’s a flame point in general. She might have a bit of rag doll in her! I found out she originated from a fluffy orange cat that I had a bunch of flame point kittens and the hoarder just kept breeding them together

Wow!! From fur length to eye color and markings, your kitty you adopted is the mirror image of mine! I just rescued mine a month ago as well, and the vet said she’s a flame point Siamese. I’m obsessed with the puffy tails and orange ears! I don’t know why I’m so excited to see my kitties twin! Lol. Cool!
I believe you have a flame-point ragdoll if your cat has longer hair. Siamese have shorter hair, I have a female flame point Siamese named Skylar and she is the sweetest and the biggest pain in my rear! Aren’t flame-point cats great?

@@LuisAlvarado-rj8tc for what it looks like, it could be a sacred Birman cream point or a Ragdoll (they have very similar structures, and since I couldn't see her paws, I don't know. Birman has white gloves, always. Ragdolls may have white gloves).

Oh no, she's a flame point siamese! I guess I didn't clear that up too well. When I messaged the rescue I said "I've always wanted a Persian, but this cat is pretty up to par", so I meant that I knew it wasn't a persian, but she was just as cute as one!

White cats have a higher risk of being born deaf, and even worse for ones with blue eyes, (I think 1 in every 4)
but so happy you adopted a kitty.
It’s clear the cat has been tested though and she would’ve been told by the adoption rescue (: They always disclose such important information, her little kitty is a healthy one though.

Pure White with blue eyes have more of a chance at being deaf this cat is not pure white it is flame point.

On May 5th, I adopted two cats. One of the cats is a 13-year-old, mediumhaired, colorpoint with blue eyes. She was brought to the shelter in a bucket with another cat and was in very poor condition. After upper respiratory infection, massive oral issues that caused the removal of nearly all of her teeth, and horrible allergies, she is getting better. She drools all over my shirt when I hold her, she has bald patches and scratches on her face and she overgroomed her legs and chewed off her fur. Her fur is growing back now and she's not so itchy anymore thanks to Lisa, vet tech, and Dr. Sutton at the Lakeshore Humane Society. They have seen her 6 times I think and have given me food for her and medication. I am forever grateful. Without their help, I would have been unable to keep her.
I have 4 cats now. Tucker and Anna are 15, Emma is 13 and the other cat I adopted (Annalise), is 1 year old. When I look at Annalise, I can hear her voice in my head. She is saying, "Oh My God! You've put me in a nursing home!" I love them all so much! You may think I saved 4 lives but that is not entirely true. They saved mine.
I can’t scroll thru all the comments to look and this is an old video but I hope anyone watching this knows you will need a cat carrier if you have a cat. I saw a woman pet a cat in a store and it jumped out of her arms when a dog came by (with owner) and bloody scratches and chaos ensued! But I love that Annie adopted a cat from a rescue. The hiding is normal for the first few weeks. Until she feels comfortable. So cute. Both of them! 🤣

I had a white cat and he was with me for 3 years. He was a Manx with a little bunny rabbit like tail. He was so affectionate. He liked to cuddle and he would meow when I said hi to him, and he always came to me when I called him. He would often scratch on my bedroom door meowing to come in to check in on me. He was the best cat ever, Sadly he got bad tumor in his mouth. We did all we could to help him and it was in a bad spot in his mouth to where it could not get removed and it kept growing faster and faster to where he could not eat or drink... The vet did all she could for him but had no choice to put him down which was Monday of this week. I am grieving so hard for him as losing him was the biggest loss I ever had... I miss him so much...

Why would she want a specific cat breed? Cats are made for love and all cats can do that the exact same way! And yes I know Persian cats are very beautiful, but there are so many other breeds you can look into, I have a Bombay and a Tabby and there the sweetest cats I've ever met!

I adopted a cat and as much as I absolutely love ALL animals, I was specifically looking for a black cat, with very long fur and I found one. You're right that all cats are made for love, but that shouldn't negate a person's decision. It's like asking why someone has a favorite color or why people have a favorite flower. I mean, why would you want a cat? All animals are made for love so why would you SPECIFICALLY choose a cat? Why not a dog? Because you like what you like.
