Hi Dan. I have a question for you maybe you can help me i recently purchased a new n scale scale trains tier 4 gevo their latest run. When the diesel is on address 3 everything works fine head lights and ditch lights on F0 and F6. When the road number is assigned the headlight does not work on F0 I tried all function keys nothing but F6 still activates the ditch lights any ideas what could be wrong.
Most of the engines I've gotten from ScaleTrains use ESU decoders, which are generally very good. I'm not sure why changing the address would affect the function key settings. It's weird that F0 doesn't work but F6 does. That's not something that I've had happen before. Maybe try resetting the decoder. In case you don't already know, you can download manuals for LokSound decoders from the ESU website. If you have a LokProgrammer, you can also look at the function key assignments that way. Sometimes when one of my ESU equipped engines does something weird, loading a new sound file will fix it. Thanks for watching and good luck!
I have mine out and running on a temporary layout right now and it works pretty well. I did tweak the motor control CVs a little to smooth it out. I only have one of these, though, so I can't really say how consistent they are. Thanks for watching!
Yes these are nice but the couplers need to be replaced with MT couplers other than that I consider them at par with Kato....thanks for sharing....Jack
Nice review. I model HO and have a few of their operator series gevos and sd40-2’s. I’m very pleased with the products details. I liked and subbed. Thanks for sharing David
Hello Dan. Another great review. Quick question; I just got a T4 GEVO myself and love all but perhaps one thing, which I hope can be adjusted. All of the video of the Prime Mover nothing up sound, (as well as mine), seem to be producing a muffled sound and nowhere near as clear as my Kato Kobo SD70ace's. Have you found this to be the case with your model and if so, how did you fix that? Thanks!
I have to confess that I haven't run this engine enough to really answer your question. Other than a short (maybe 2 foot) diorama that I use to take photos, I don't have anything permanent set up to run N scale right now (or HO either for that matter). I would suspect the speaker size and enclosure design are probably the issue. The same decoder can sound vastly different through different speakers, and the enclosure also makes a huge difference. Unfortunately space restrictions in N scale dictate small speakers and enclosures. Thanks for watching!
Not sure if you're talking about HO or N, but I can think of a couple of things to check. One, the Kato couplers don't tend to have as much side to side flexibility as Kadee or Micro-Trains couplers, so you might try changing them out. Also, well cars tend to be light, so maybe adding weight to the bottom containers (assuming you have a loaded train) would help.
Hi Dan you didnt mention the white hood and white walkways I bought the U.P. 2669 and I looked up the pictures for the real one no match..for the money spent on it I would thought scale trains would have noticed that
On my model the area in front of the windshield and the walkways are a lighter gray than the UP gray on the rest of the model. I have an elevated shot of one of these engines and the gray in those areas is lighter, though maybe not as light as on the model. The particular engine I shot was also dirty so it's hard to say for certain. ScaleTrains does have issues with getting the paint colors right sometimes. The lighter gray on the model may look lighter than it really is on the video. I use pretty bright lights in my studio. Thanks for watching!
@@DanielCortopassi thanks for the review and response. I was wondering if you would ever pick up or review bli sd40-2 i found some issues, I would love to hear your critic on that model. Also what's your opinion on FVM sd70 ace?
Now that the real UP engines have had a couple years to fade and get dirty, I'd probably just weather it and call it done. The color doesn't look right to me for a new locomotive. Thanks for watching!
Great video, I been trying to find where you were, great video I love all the detail videos of engines that you did before, I just sub to your channel check out some of my videos you might like them thanks for sharing.....
Another Great review!
Thanks!
Great models
I find the coupler shank too short for smaller layouts with tighter curves
That's good to know. Thanks for the information!
Cool video. Had to rewatch. Lol
I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for watching!
Great Review and prototype film. MAN!!!! good video.
Glad you liked it. Thanks for watching!

I have heard too many complaints online about it running ability right out of the box. These issues should have been taken care of before boxing.

@@DanielCortopassi just a note, I recently watched a video that said they have improved the couplers a lot and work much better now...😃
Thanks for the review. I was just looking for an N scale GEVO.
You're welcome. Thanks for watching!
Thank you Dan!
Thanks for watching!
Great review Dan, I add this to my list. Just of the great review of your video.
Thanks for watching!
I have two scale trains tier 4 GEVOs in HO scale and I am very happy with them
and the N scale looks just like the HO SCALE great review DAN
These are nice engines. Thanks for watching!

Thanks, I'm glad you're enjoying the channel!
Thanks. I need to look a little closer at one. Thanks.

Incredible! Now I wish I modeled in N scale.
It's a cool model. Thanks for watching!

Yay now I can know whether not i want to buy one
Cool. Thanks for watching!
I am having trouble with pulling Kato maxi-1 unit train, couplers want to pull trucks off rails on curves. Anyone else have this issue?

How odd Scale Trains would miss something as simple as matching the color. Very nice review!
It's been a recurring problem with UP diesels. I think it has to do with their painting process. Thanks for watching!

Great review Dan! Would you repaint the yellow to the correct shade on this or run as is? Keep em coming Dan!

Theres tape on the speaker grill .. remove it and it will be much louder
Thanks for the info! I'll check that out.
Awesome
Thanks for watching!
This is by far one of the best N-Scale diesels built to date. I think scale trains hit a grand slam on this one..
They really did a nice job on this one, and the quality control was pretty good. Thanks for watching!
