I have anxiety. Having too much stuff makes me feel overwhelmed. I don't like having too many choices. I've been reducing the amount of clothing I have. I didn't have much when I moved six years ago. Now, I feel overwhelmed with choice. There are shirts in my closet that I haven't even worn, yet.
With makeup and other beauty items, I use one or two items of each type at a time. I have two eyeshadow palettes. I'm only using one. With other products, I just do first in, first out for the most part. I have a few highlighters and blushes and, sometimes, I rotate through them. I have a blush/highlighter palette that I didn't care for that I rotated out. I suspect that I'll use it once the other highlighters and blushes that I prefer run out.
That makes a ton of sense! I read a book called The Paradox of Choice that explains this phenomenon really well. I hope you're able to figure out a good medium for yourself :)
So glad that your no buy has turned into a low buy and that you lesrned so much. Personally, I was on a 6 month no buy. I think it really helped me figure out my preferences and figure out how much makeup I actually need.
