Ninja Gaiden Black: Rival Ninja, Demons, Great plot, Incredibly large arsenal. Ninja Gaiden 2: Rival ninja, Demons, Great plot, smaller arsenal, but still good variety. Ninja Gaiden 3: Fucking terrorists!
I also like how people say, "Just because it isn't a good Ninja Gaiden game doesn't mean it's not a good game by itself." First of all, it isn't a good game. If it was made by different developers, and was called "Cursed Blade" or something, even without the "Ninja Gaiden Bias" it would still suck. Developers make sequels because a game is popular. The purpose of making a sequel is to give people more of the same of what they just played, add a little bit, and try to fix things people didn't like about the first game. Now occasionally, developers will make a reboot, and then that's where they'll try something new. But since Ninja Gaiden 3 is not a reboot, and since it is tied chronologically to the other two, it's an insult that they made it so much worse.
Ninja Gaidan 2 was the hardest and most satisfying game I had played at that time. Including the fact I had beat oblivion during the same time thats saying something. I played the original Nintendo game when i was a kid and was very impressed with the franchise's abilities to translate the difficulty level to the first 2 games. I strongly disagree with the narrative that one and two had convoluted story lines. The stories created were necessary and created the most memorable boss fights. 3 was such a let down.
@@jaredlizzshared5995 I agree. NG2's bosses made me MAD, like the silver dragon in the lake... Or the big fucking worm that shoots ghost fish. But it had 8 melee weapons that I've never seen another game do animations better for. Kusari Gama is INSANE when you learn the combos. NG3: here's a sword and 1 ninpo, have fun. Jfc I think Razors Edge was worse, never played a game so frustratingly difficult. Like teasing me with smooth graphics and visceral blood and my coveted falcon claws, but it's still the same shit game except enemies are more annoying than they've ever been.
LJ64 True. but Ninja Gaiden was never really good at storylines and Team Ninja focused too hard on the storyline of Ninja Gaiden 3 for fans who love a good plot, rather than the die-hard Ninja Gaiden fans who love the difficulty and complexity in gameplay
I haven't played it yet, I mean, I've heard that you're stuck with only one weapon but I've seen playthroghs in which you can use like 4 melee weapons and I'm kinda confused, since you finished the game please tell me, are you stuck with only one weapon or you can switch and use different ones? Please do a bro a fav and answer, cheers man!
+Iv Niev the person you were watching was playing ninja gaiden 3:razors edge The followup to this game and they added a ton of new stuff to make the game a perfect 10 in my opinion. New story, new characters It's brilliant.
Ninja Gaiden was a challenging game so I had to use strategy and skill to improve. This game looks like a step back. To me part of the fun of video games is the challenge as well as the accessibility.
this game is not so bad for newcomers to the ninja gaiden franchise.. sure its dumbed down for the older NG fans (i have been playing through all of NG games since the NES era) but on its own its a pretty good action games.. not as bad as IGN 3.0 review... this review is spot on.. a 7 is correct in my book..
This game was garbage. Why did they need to make it more accessible? The first two weren't even all that difficult on the easy difficulties. Ryu could block, dodge, and flank enemies rather smoothly and the combo sets were amazing for the first two games. Also, the amount of gore you could spill was the perfect incentive to master different combos. Ninja Gaiden 2 had 8 weapons, each one fought very differently, were each spectacularly gory, and the most fun could be had constantly switching between them in between levels depending on if you were in the mood to bludgeon, slash, or decimate. The ninpo system allowed for a bit of strategy as certain ninpo was better against some enemies than others, and they all looked cool. The stories were ridiculous but it didn't matter because cutscenes were not intrusive, and the game was about slaughter. What did Ninja Gaiden 3 do? It dumbed down the combat system, and there was no incentive to really master it because no matter what, all Ryu would do near the end was cut through a guy's body. No dismemberment, no decapitations, no head smashing, no variety, always the same stupid body slash. To make a comparison, it would be like if Mortal Kombat characters could only use one fatality and it was boring. To make it worse, after all the positive feedback they got from the multiple weapons, the developers said, "Hey, you guys really liked having multiple weapons didn't you? Well too bad here's a sword." And then they had the audacity to add other weapons as DLC YOU HAD TO PAY FOR. They also scrapped the amazing ninpo system and replaced it with a stupid dragon animation that was stupidly cheap, unintuitive, an stupid. And then they tried to make story this big emphasis, with intrusive cut scenes, and it was a stupid story, even dumber than the ones from previous games. Dumbed down combat, one weapon, one ninpo, and only one way to slaughter enemies, with a stupid story... great job Ninja Gaiden 3 developers, way to take everything that made Ninja Gaiden unique and just shit on it.
yeah right..i hope microsoft and sony will buy the game for franchise so that it will be available for the ps3 and xbox 360. ninja gaiden sigma 3 for the ps3 and for xbox ninja gaden 3 razor edge.. hopefully they will make it. by the way how can we suggest to the team ninja? we must suggest that they should make this game for the ps3 and xbox 360. this will be the game ninja gaiden game ever. they've already fix the problem. but the only problem is , it is not for the ps3 and xbox only for WiiU
The reason why I love gametrailer's reviews is because they use the word "we" and even if they don't, it seems as if they have multiple people reviewing a game
I found the story in this pretty good. Story in the first half a meh but come the second mid way point pretty interesting. As for the Main villian considering entertaining except for cliff prefered the first villian.
i did not see any problem with the game and i liked how they went to the roots of the original. that being said. i think once razors edge is out there will be a patch for the other versions.
The only problem with that is that Nintendo is publishing the game. Which means they put up the cash to make that version happen. Unless they can buy out the rights, I doubt it will appear on other consoles.
Razor's Edge hopefully will fix all of the problems this game has... Or at least most of them. There's definitely more weapons in that version, and violence has been ramped up.
You'll have to tell me exactly what you're right about, because you really haven't made anything clear. All I've been trying to that is that you can't let the fact that this game is a sequel doesn't mean it should hinder how the game is reviewed. Which is what IGN did and why I didn't like their review. Really that's all I can say that I was complaining about. What else was I complaining about? Really, I'm kind of confused right now.
I'll tell you why, go play Ninja Gaiden 1 for the xbox, or Ninja Gaiden Black for the xbox, or go play Ninja Gaiden Sigma for the ps3 (All 3 are Ninja Gaiden 1). I'll explain. Ninja Gaiden had great combat with a variety of moves and weapons. It had platforming elements. It was difficult and there weren't save points all over the place. You didn't get a full HP bar after a small skirmish, you didn't get full health at a save point (Ninja Gaiden 2, no need for that stuff) You could upgrade and buy potions. You had magic (Ninpo) and could upgrade that as well. You had blue orb of the gods to collect to increase your health. And last but seriously not least, the map was 1 great open world! Yes, like the on a whole nother level Dark Souls. Ninja Gaiden 1 was perfect! Ninja Gaiden 2 dumbed it down with too many save points and health full at the points but is still an okay play. Ninja Gaiden 3 is complete trash from what I've seen compared to where it all started Ninja Gaiden 1. I'm playing Ninja Gaiden 3 Razor's Edge and am annoyed by no items, linear maps, everything feels like a small arena, walk a corridor, another small arena. Less moves, enemies don't drop their yellow, red or blue orbs to absorb or use for a strong attack. And I seriously hate the finishing move nonsense. When a dude loses an arm you can instantly kill it with a strong attack, and in this animation Ruy is immortal. It completely removes the intensity of the situation since you can't die when in that mode. I don't see Ninja Gaiden as a franchise, it's just one perfect game with a mild followup and a completely wrongly done part 3. If you like the universe and style, go play any Ninja Gaiden version of the first. Not what came after. (sorry for long post, it just pisses me off, I love Ninja Gaiden 1)
dumbass you would not be able to finish nija gaiden 2 without save healing or healing after a skirmish, you were only able to hold 3 small health herbs and 3 grains compared to the first game where you could hold 10 small potions and 5 big ones.
Agree with MertensCW down here. Ninja Gaiden 3 seems like a 3 or maybe 4. Razor's Edge is a 5-6. Ninja Gaiden 1/Black/Sigma is a 9. Ninja Gaiden 2/Sigma 2 is an 8- imho. Don't glorify the simplification and dumbing down of almost perfect gameplay and level design. If they could do Ninja Gaiden 1, no way in hell they do Arkham Asylum combat and still get a mark above 5.
7.7/10 after you spent all your time talking about how bland this game is? I'd have thought a 5/10 is most generous given what you said. 7.7/10 does not match up at all with your thoughts.
Also why do you randomly have Half-Life and Dead Space in your comment? If I remember correctly I was the one who brought those up when I was arguing against "Linearity beings a bad thing". And if you're so uptight about opinions; then why are you making a big deal out of mine? I didn't think the IGN was a fair review and I like this one better. There's nothing wrong with that. One more thing, you actually mention Ninja Gaiden in directly by referring to it as "this game"
If you actually take the game for what it is. its pretty good. but of course if you compare it to the past games you will have something to gripe about.
yeah they gave it a 9/10 and its the same shit each year. sure this may not be the best NG in the series but at least it brought something new like steel on bone.
The game isn't a complete disaster. The one MAJOR complaint I have with it is the camera and how fast everything happens. I cant even tell what Im doing over half the time and at one point it started giving me a headache. Over all if feels like they watered down the good aspects of ninja gaiden 2 and increased the annoying ones.
7.7 still is a very low rate for NG standars, this is the highest score I've seem for this game, all other rates from GameSpot, IGN and others don't even reach to 6.0
"Easy: Big flaw" Now that's just nitpicking and I see it as whining(My opinion). A game being easy isn't a big flaw. It was only mentioned as a flaw by me because it is a flaw when it comes to a game known for its difficulty. The reason why I "mentioned" the flaws of the game was because I was outlining that the flaws that IGN blew out of proportions weren't exactly the worst of things. So in terms, I'm actually complaining about that review and think this one is a lot more fair
I disagree. I'm a huge ninja gaiden fan, and have played all the previous ones. The Hard mode was not challenging, master ninja reminded me somwhat of Mentor from Ninja gaiden 2. The lack of multiple ninpo spells was also a really big dissapointment. The QTE's used to make the game feel more "visceral" did the exact opposite. Some steel on bone segments are cool, but it gets repetitive. Also only 3 damn weapons throughout the entire campaign - all of them being swords. Yeah, they need Itagaki.
I tried the demo for a laugh and couldn't stop laughing when I watched the ninja walking like a guy in high heels. The fighting was weird. Sliding around on his ass to avoid being shot and sliced. Jumping and spinning in the air like a trampoline champion. And then sheathing his sword, or claws, and walking past the corpses like a guy in high heels. Maybe his ass was sore from all that sliding around on it in order to dodge bullets and cutlery which made him walk funny. No thanks.
still hours till i get it........ -all reviewers pulled the game down saying how its not difficult and QTEs and so on -but you love the bloody qte stuff -also no reviewer actually plays it on MASTER -see you guys online! strange business logic, i hope it works
There are a LOT of down sides to this game, the thing that pisses me off the most is that the Idea behind NG3, in and of itself, was really good. They just failed to pull it off in the way they should have, and that, to me, makes the other mistakes, mainly the gameplay, and severe lack of weapons, much more obvious. I can't truly say I hate this game, but it's surely not one of my favs...sadly...
I think the game still awesome even though it's kind of hard it's still kind of fun to play I don't think the graphics are that bad I haven't beat the game yet I might be stupid and dumb because I ain't beat it everybody else probably did but oh well that's just how I feel I'm not like everybody else and I can't be I don't think it's a bad game after all.
Not to mention a horrible story, even though they tried focusing on it more this time. I'd honestly like a ninja gaiden game that explores Ryu's past has he trained to become the Ninja he is today; all the trials and failures and battles he went through. That with the same gameplay elements as Ninja Gaiden 2 would be epic in my opinion.
I have played every other ninja gaiden and i 1,2,3,X-box version,Black,Sigma,X-box360 2,Sigma 2 and this was easily my least favorite. To few options in almost every way.
turn off the damm game tutorials if you dont want QTES just press start go to game options and turn tutorials so the game is harder and press select to open the combo list why are you reviewing a game if you dont know anything about it but still good review better than ign and gamespot
You're doing what I said not to do. You're judging it as a Ninja Gaiden game, and that makes you biased against the game. When you're going that the flaws are weighed more heavily and the review isn't fair. Now, look at it from the standpoint that it's just another game- which it is by the way. Easy difficulty: Not really a flaw, Repetitive(This applies from the fighting layout to the amount of weapons): Minor flaw, Linear: Moderate flaw, Annoying Sequences: Need to be fixed.
To all who judge the game without even playing it-Its a ninja gaiden game and a great one.I was worried myself that it wouldnt be so challenging but god was i pleasantly surprised.Playing it on hard mode it was every bit as challenging as past instalments and master ninja difficulty is just what u expect.I bet some of the reviewers played it on hero mode and declared this game is easy.
I'm pretty sure that all the IGN review did was talk total crap about the game. Yes it's a bad Ninja Gaiden game, but that's not the type of game it is. It's an Action-Adventure/Hack&Slash, and that it what should be referred to when reviewing it
Wow, the complete and utter bullshit in that comment is almost too much to bare. First let me set the record straight: my first comment up there only refers to the IGN review. That is mostly because this is the second video review I watched. When I watched the IGN review I felt disappointed that a game I was really looking forward to is bad, but then I watch this on and found out that IGN made its faults a lot worse than what they were. Which was the point I was trying to make
I can't believe they gave it a 7 xDDD yeah, I really dislike this game. I was really into NGB/Sigma's story and NG2 really nailed the combat. they changed so much about NG that I couldn't really find it fun.
I watched IGN's "mixed reviews" video, they completely destroyed this game, they made it look like a piece of shit without even showing any features in the game, that was so absurd...

and latency is minimal, BULLSHIT, I live australia and it is sooo laggy, people take my kills, and attacks dont connect.
a tip for fans get the Wii U version it fixes the problems with this version
So they put a Ninja Gaiden 2 disc in the box instead?
I think the game still awesome even though it's kind of hard it's still kind of fun to play I don't think the graphics are that bad I haven't beat the game yet I might be stupid and dumb because I ain't beat it everybody else probably did but oh well that's just how I feel I'm not like everybody else and I can't be I don't think it's a bad game after all.
Not to mention a horrible story, even though they tried focusing on it more this time. I'd honestly like a ninja gaiden game that explores Ryu's past has he trained to become the Ninja he is today; all the trials and failures and battles he went through. That with the same gameplay elements as Ninja Gaiden 2 would be epic in my opinion.
oh. so it's not just me? i thought my computer was just a piece of shit.
Game Informer also gave it a 3
skill = "how fast you can press the buttons in sequence".....hate that shit.
This doesn't look as fun as Ninja Gaiden 2, at all...
No weapon arsenal, and the HUD design looks really cheap.
I thought ninjas were supposed to be stealthy :/
I like this game
GamesRadar* my bad...
Holy fuck I miss gt
Yes little girl, don't be rude! You should totally embrace Ryu's disgusting hand that even grownups would back off from.
I love watching game videos and stuff on youtube with my boyfriend 0_o; Oh shit...
I have played every other ninja gaiden and i 1,2,3,X-box version,Black,Sigma,X-box360 2,Sigma 2 and this was easily my least favorite. To few options in almost every way.
The campaign is just 10 hours
that shut him up.
turn off the damm game tutorials if you dont want QTES just press start go to game options and turn tutorials so the game is harder and press select to open the combo list why are you reviewing a game if you dont know anything about it but still good review better than ign and gamespot
This game blew. Used to count on a series producing some challenge and exploration in NG, but they flat out fucked this up.
It's an Action-Adventure/Hack&Slash, and that it what should be referred to when reviewing it
They destroyed the franchise. Everything we once loved in the series is just gone...
Which was the point I was trying to make
0:32 LOL! fail threatening and knowledge! XD it's 6 days not 7.
i don't understand why someone would buy this game for 60 dollars instead of buying NG2 (which is the obvious better game) for 10 dollars.
its good, its not NG tho
it has and im said......
Ninja Gaiden 3: the worst game I've played on xbox 360.
Boring as hell, ultra repetitive an insult to human intelligence.
Après avoir tranché des centaines d'êtres vivants, il tend sa main ensanglanté à une petite de 5 ans !! Normal qu'elle le repousse non ?? xD
This review is WAY too kind.
Ninja Gaiden 3 is the worst game I've played this gen, hands down.
I can't believe they gave it a 7 xDDD
yeah, I really dislike this game. I was really into NGB/Sigma's story and NG2 really nailed the combat. they changed so much about NG that I couldn't really find it fun.
God created the world in 6 days............
waaaaaaaaaaay to high of a score
I watched IGN's "mixed reviews" video, they completely destroyed this game, they made it look like a piece of shit without even showing any features in the game, that was so absurd...
6:15 - 6:24 "ok :(" lol
