- Jerry and Linda have lived in The Villages, Florida for just over three years. During that time they have produced over 300 videos to help guide, educate and entertain anyone interested in a new life in the Sunshine State. In this episode they look back at their first few weeks here. Listen and watch as they compare what they knew then, with what they have learned. It has been a fun and happy time for the Newcomers and they are happy to share their wonderful experiences!

One of the biggest secrets to success on yt is to have a positive attitude and smile. People deal with issues in their lives every day and when they go online they want to see a positive influence like you two have been. Keep up the great job!

The stress of moving is tiring and hard on the body. I’ve been catching up on the Vlogs and I believe in one, you mentioned the first few were meant for family. Three years later, you’ve mastered the Villages, have met people, and have a bit more color. In watching, what I notice most is the love you have for each other.
OMG, you both look younger!! All the fresh air and sun makes your bodies younger.

Having flash backs to “The best of Carson”. Like those shows, yours was funny then and funny today! Many things have changed for you two over the past 3 years but your excitement of living in The Villages remains, makes your shows fun to watch!

I don’t know how I found them either. Somehow they were just there. I’m binge watching to catch up! I didn’t know The Villages was so large.

May I say that you both look younger and so much more at ease than 3 years ago. I think it's because you are happy living in such a beautiful environment as The Villages! This place is not perfect, but I think it's as close to perfection as you can get! I for one am thankful that spirit sent you here! Thanks for the three years of you two and Gizmo! You look more relaxed than when you first moved down from Indiana! Your skin tone is much better too--you were too pale back home! The sun agrees with both of you and you really do look younger now! Love it!

I had it in August, and again in mid January. 1st time was worse than 2nd time, but still not too bad. I only just started getting my sense of smell back last week!

My self and my husband both had Covid in January so even though we were fully vaccinated it still takes a week or 14 days to recover and when you guys didn’t post a video last week I just knew something wasn’t right and I’m glad you took the time off because you need to rest and recover , God bless and have a great day!!☺️

I'm originally from Jacksonville, Florida and I miss being close to the beach. I do love the snow though and we had some snow here in northern Virginia this year.

I have been following your vlogs for a few years now. My husband and I are hoping to move to The Villages this year. Your videos have been super helpful as we moved to Florida last October (renting) and have now started the house hunting process. Hope to meet you someday. See you when we get there!

I bought my house when it was 4 years old from the original owner. I also recognized when I had lived here/owned it longer than he owned it, it then truly became "my house".

Took me 2 weeks to get the taste and smell back but no fever or other symptoms. Wow you guys look younger now than 3 years ago.

We have a mini dachshund too named Hank. One of his best attributes is his tootsie roll poop. We fly with him too although our snowbird location is Arizona.

Thank you for all the information! You both look great. I had hoped to retire there in my future but things turned south on me 4 days before Christmas, lost my job 🤔. So, what did I do? Go visit my friend that lives in St. PETE for a month, I took a day to drive up to the villages and drove the Buena Vista rd, not sure about the area I could not find the squares with all the activities? Some shopping centers, not what I expected. Maybe next time, all the homes where gated, all in all it was a nice drive. Where are all the people? I will keep following you and enjoy your videos, and yes, the Florida sunshine has done you well. Until next time.
You all do look a lot healthier I know you don’t lay out and tan yet your coloring is so much better I remember when I last visited my girlfriend I felt pretty confident when I was able to figure out the new neighborhoods to go for a walk while my friend groomed her dogs I would be confused now lol 😂

Take some zinc to help get your taste and smell back. High vitamin d3 about 5000 iu that also contains k2, eat with some fat for absorption.
Mucinex and Zyrtec for congestion. Hope you feel better.
I am very glad you both are recovering well from your bout with Covid! I missed your Thursday video but was relieved when it was posted on Saturday. By the way, you never finished the Gizmo story. How did he fare while traveling after that bowl of chilli?

We like to fly into an out of Orlando because of the flight choices. If Gainesville had more airlines we would use it. Easy and easy out. Tampa has less Disney traffic so that is nice too..

Could you share you secret meatloaf recipe MS Linda?😅
Here ya go!
LINDA'S MEATLOAF CANDY
(That's what Jerry calls it😁)
1 1/4 lbs ground beef or chuck
1 medium onion chopped
1/2 tsp. Salt
1/4 tsp. Pepper
1 tsp. Worchestershire sauce
1 tsp. Soy sauce
1 Tbsp A-1 steak sauce
1 Tbsp BBQ sauce
1 tsp. mustard
1 egg
1/2 sleeve of Town House crackers or Ritz
TOPPING:
1/3 Cup Ketchup
3 Tbsp brown sugar
Mix all ingredients. ( except topping) in a large bowl.
Mold into a loaf.
Mix ketchup and brown sugar to coat over the top of the loaf. The sauce goes on before putting it in the oven.
Bake in a 1 1/2 qt. baking dish for 1 hour at 350°.
(sometimes I add 1/2 stalk of finely chopped celery and or a packet of dry Lipton onion soup mix).
Let it stand for 10 minutes or so.

It's funny seeing how pale your skin was back then, from living up north, and how tanned you both look now. If you need time off to feel better, don't push yourself to produce videos for us. We love the effort you put into making them funny, informative and entertaining. I usually watch your videos more than once, because it's like being with family. Rest up you two !!!!!!

Have you guys done a video on your process of even finding the villages? Did you look at other retirement communities? What was your thought process deciding to move to a retirement community versus just finding a condo somewhere in a warm state? Did you only look at Florida or did you entertain the idea of other states? Did you visit other retirement communities in Florida?

My Monday and Thursday ritual is to watch your show before I get out of bed and yes, I was definitely concerned last Thursday when there was no show. Hey Jerry! Hey Linda! Sorry to have to tell you, but it's been 4 weeks since I had COVID and I'm still feeling worn, and still munching cough drops for that tickle in my throat. Karen still hasn't got [ that's NYC grammar, Teach] her taste buds back 100%.

I finally got over Covid since Christmas! I have my taste back too Linda. I’m glad you two are feeling better. My son came for Christmas and he’s fully vaccinated and I’m not due to allergies. We had the same exact temp and symptoms. 😰 🙄 🤒 😱 😴 🤧 😴 🤔 The only thing I can say about that is. “Like mother, like son?” 🤗
