I also have to chuckle at all the passes people give Japanese punks. If this sort of generic revivalism were indulged in with little irony here in the West, the band would be ripe for good natured ridicule; as it's the Japanese (who so many hipsters are permanently intimidated by and defer to on all matters aesthetic), they appear to be treated with reverence and seriousness. I can't help but laugh cynically.
