I love how diverse Gary Numans musical catalog is... and I may be in the minority but I love his early stuff, his mid to late 80s stuff and his darker 90s and 00s stuff. He just does it all well.
I don't think you speak in dissent at all. when it comes to bands that have been around for a long time, most people always say "the old stuff was better". I honestly don't think that's always the case with most bands, I think people have a tendency to like the old stuff from a band more because it's been around longer. and so it's had more time to grow on you, as opposed to something that's new. for me it's the very early, and the very recent Gary Numan that I like most.
He still is good, someppl have said on YT that he has crossed over to the dark side. Well I know more about Trent Reznor then Gary, however if you know his music from 1979 till now, he was always there. And I love it.
I remember when I first heard this album. The album was called Dawn when I saw it and had art from that comic. I was a questioning person at the time, always had been, still am and this album - and that comic - spoke to me. I had this CD on constant repeat for months.
I came across this 'Dawn' album and thus Gary Numan from the comic. the only comic that I know that's got a soundtrack without an animated movie :P The Dawn comic really needs to be made into a m-rated animated movie with Gary Numan expanding upon this album for its music.
I'll crawl for you Hurt if you want to I'll be the thing that you feed. I'm not asking For love or redemption I'll sell my guilt to your need. I'll breathe for you Die if you want to I'll mourn with you by my grave. I dare you to judge me Now God has disowned me I've come to you to be saved. They say I sold my soul. We all reap what we sow. I'll shine for you Burn if you want to You'll be the prize for my pain. I'll kill your god And pray for salvation I'll be the in to your sane. I'll lie for you be your conscience in you Sacrifice reason for shame. I won't ask for Faith or forgiveness I'll be the blood in your veins. They say I lost my way I'll wait for judgement day. Don't pray for my soul. Don't pray for my soul. Don't pray for my soul. Don't pray for my soul. I'll be your darkness In the light I'll be your vampire calling In the dead of night I'll be your demon Shadow man I'll be your one confession And if I can I'll be your nightmare And scream for you I'll be your one possesion If you want me to I'll be your secret Memory, I'll be your exhibition Of atrocity. They say I sold my soul. We all reap what we sow. They say I lost my way. I'll wait for judgement day. Don't pray for my soul. Don't pray for my soul. Don't pray for my soul. Don't pray for my soul. @hehfilms As for Numan, he isn't questioning. He knows (he is a Gnostic Atheist) there is no God of any kind. This song is exploring how it affects his life.
I'm just not interested any artist's religious or atheist views. I could care less. Not why I like their music. Gary's included. I like Gary's voice and his way with synthesizers. I would like new music with high and low synth registers, the lows with the soaring highs. I haven't found any other musician who can create the kind of music Gary can make using synths.
From the recent trip to Istanbul the feeling and wavelength was very strong, this may be due to the European crossover of the Sunni side of Islam and mystical Sufi practice. My mother who is buried in a cemetery in England among the christian graves was very spiritual, more of the Fakir line. One uncle was Sunni the other Shia ( mainly practiced in Iran / Persia). Anyway my aunt from the Sunni side performed a witch/wizard ritual magic summoning the Djinn (Jinn). many Islamic scholars will say this is evil and devils work, but there is also a good side to Jinn. Otherwise it would not have appeared in the Koran.
@hehfilms You are kind of simple, aren't you? :P jk "Heresy" has multiple layers actually, each of them more exploratory than an assertion of a theological position. As for him claiming to be Deist, that doesn't run contradictory to what I said. Deist is quite possibly the most ambiguous standpoint of them all as it could entail absolutely anything including a belief in the Christian God minus the rituals. So no, I am not off base here.
@hehfilms "Question of Faith" is more honest, I must say, though. I don't know about anyone else, but the more I listen to Reznor's music, the more I get a Christian vibe. The way he phrases things on his later albums just doesn't sound right for someone who isn't a believer.
Its more of a guy that grew up in the Midwest possibly believing in something that he no longer does. There's that want for something to be there and yet not feeling it. That's the vibe I get with Trent's later music.

@@BEAKER6868 The old stuff is rarely "better". It's what people with superiority complexes say.
Listening to this in a detox unit in Liverpool! Getting clean with my old bezzy Mr numan!
Good luck, I hope Numans music is helping you get there 👍👍
I don’t care what people say, I love Nine Inch Numan just as much as Pleasure Principle era Numan
This is my anthem.
He still is good, someppl have said on YT that he has crossed over to the dark side. Well I know more about Trent Reznor then Gary, however if you know his music from 1979 till now, he was always there. And I love it.
Fantastic track that totally could have been in The Crow soundtrack
My favourite, favourite track from Sacrifice, absolutely love it ❤️❤️.
me too

:-)
This album needs to be Remastered!
Ponweeman I would buy it in a blink of an eye if they did
They did remaster it in the late 90s, though I think this album has been out of print for a while now.
Apparently, Numan + Fenton are currently in the process of remastering this album and several others!
@@jamesbush4674 Not only remastering, apparently they are re-recording the whole damn thing! At least that's what Gary himself has said.
I'll crawl for you
Hurt if you want to
I'll be the thing that you feed.

For love or redemption
I'll sell my guilt to your need.

Don't pray for my soul.
Don't pray for my soul.
Don't pray for my soul.
Don't pray for my soul.
I'll be your darkness
In the light
I'll be your vampire calling
In the dead of night
I'll be your demon
Shadow man
I'll be your one confession
And if I can
I'll be your nightmare
And scream for you
I'll be your one possesion
If you want me to
I'll be your secret
Memory,
I'll be your exhibition
Of atrocity.
They say I sold my soul.
We all reap what we sow.
They say I lost my way.
I'll wait for judgement day.
Don't pray for my soul.
Don't pray for my soul.
Don't pray for my soul.
Don't pray for my soul.
They kneel down, praise God
Shout allelujah,
Lift up their eyes when they pray.
When children kill children
Don't it make them wonder?
Don't it make them question their faith?
Way ahead of his time
Great tune from legend. See you in London on the 20th March Gary, can't wait.

Saved me from suicide, was in a dark place and a dark time 😢
No matter how many times you slow it, or edit it. He's saying "I'll pray for my soul" Not don't...google lies.
I love this song!!!!

@APracticableDreamer You got it.

Reference Delerium - Karma album. Many definifitions of Karma, 1st single album edition has the Koran. So do we All RwWs
So this is one of th songs that "Kiss me and die" became. It' interesting to hear it with lyrics... but I expected a more dramatic lyrics to it...
@hehfilms Are you accusing him of ripping off Trent with song?
@hehfilms You are kind of simple, aren't you? :P jk "Heresy" has multiple layers actually, each of them more exploratory than an assertion of a theological position. This is a quality track back when Numan was good.
Back when? So... 5 years later, have you heard his new album Savage? It's the sound of this, 10X!
Frank M he still is good. He is better I saw him live 5 months ago it was the most amazing thing I have ever seen in my entire life
he has got better and better
Sounds a lot like The Radial Pair's Kiss Me and Die song.

LicoriceLain true

It's just symbolism used in a kinda provocative way, but Trent is still as "anti-everything" as usual.
