A very worthy addition to the excellent Vibracobra23 channel just posted yesterday.
On May 1, 1973 the mighty Wailers recorded these three songs for John Peel's Top Gear program on National Radio 1. Just a week previous, they had released Catch A Fire LP, an album that would make the Wailers a world wide sensation. They had been recording in Jamaica since 1964 and had a sensational back catalog, but were still, for the most part, well known only to aficionados of reggae music. That all changed with Catch A Fire. Chris Blackwell, the owner of Island Records, marketed Catch A Fire as a rock record and with its iconic flip top cigarette lighter cover, the album was a monster hit.
Concrete Jungle was the opening track on Catch A Fire, and made quite an impression on everyone who heard it. Simply put, it is one of the very greatest reggae songs ever. Slave Driver followed Concrete Jungle on the album and if anyone can name a better one-two punch to start a reggae LP, please let me know.
The Wailers recorded the famous Rastaman Chant for Tuff Gong right around the time of this Peel session and it was included on the band's second album on Island Records, Burnin' (November, 1973)
These are among the last recordings that Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer made together. On May 24, 1973 the band recorded ten songs at the Paris Theater in London that were broadcast on BBC Radio 1's " In Concert" program. At this time Blackwell remarked that the Wailers would play "freak clubs" on the upcoming portion of their American tour. Bunny, always the spiritual side of the Wailers' triangle, decided this was not going to turn out well, and returned to Jamaica. He would never play with the Wailers again. And Burnin' would be the last Wailer album Peter appeared on. So just as the Wailers were achieving their greatest commercial success, this magnificent group was disintegrating. But soon, all three were about to embark on solo careers with spectacular results.

Their was 2 sessions on radio 1 with john peel been looking for this on vinyl great versions,i just got a 4 lp set its got the paris theatre rare out takes ive got the jamaican version of the first lp completely different versions highly recommended, cant listen to the other lp version now lolnbecause you realise how much they changed it.also paul,s mall gig lp i think one gig is in leeds.but these 2 shows i want badly one always gets blocked come on marleys son & lauryn hill got the original version released sounds lush that fat analogue sound that makes my heart sing.thats my opinion im a guitarist so not a fan of sacd or mp4 as a guitarist i have a right to say what i think analogue is king, reggae with unrestricted bass is a thing of pure warmth & beauty.73 was the year of my birth lol but man this band deserve respect & so does vinyl tech so please sony emi universal the response to analogue reissues is proving their is still a massive market for it.far too much business has been lost because of poor mastering use the original masters add original analogue sound recording,s to your vinyl reissue,s & watch the response.sad fact for executives millions now listen to music for free so bring back analogue vinyl & millions of customers will return you know i speak the truth great post mate peace...

The quality of this recording and the regard for this artist and the legacy of Mr. Peel are evidenced by the fact that there are no dislikes on this post -- there'd better never be, or else the rudeboy in me might just have to break some kneecaps!!
    (just kidding -- maybe)

Hi, thank you very much for the audio. I'm trying to adjust all the bob marley audios, with a lot of work and a guitar. About this show there are other audios on the net (some of them directly from the peel shows and some radio programs) with the pitch not correct and the speed a bit more faster than it should be. Your audio, somehow, it seems good and the pitch correct. Can I asked you where you found it and what kind of adjustments you made, in case you did. I would like to be sure that the key is perfect. It seems to me that I can maybe speed it up just a little, because slave driver and rastaman seems to me a bit low on the pitch too (but the best I found). Anyway if it comes from a good source, I guess I will not touch it.
Thanks, I hope you can answer to me.
