Hey Steve, I have been watching your videos and learning and learning. The carb tune up info has been just excellent. I have used versions of it with success on two or three of my little machines. My leaf blower has been bogging and surging and finally when I saw this video on the Ryobi, the light went on. Today I took a deep breath and took the carb off, removed the high and low screws and sprayed with carb cleaner, full flow into the venturi area. The diaphram seems stiff and stuck to the body, suspect it needs replacement. Not having a replacement yet I reassembled and after some screw adjustments, the little lady came back to life, started, good idle and good performance for about 15 minutes, then some surging again but was able to get some blowing done. I am trying to order parts......maybe a new diaphram will get me all the way back to success. Thank you Steve. Fred

Great vid. Reminds me of a freebee I was given.Roofer working next door tosses a small 110 V air compressor into the dumpster from the rooftop. I asked what the problem was. He said it just stopped and had been acting up. Time is money. Went to his PU and grabbed another compressor.Said I could have the old one.. I thought I might salvage a few parts. Put it on my workbench and started dismantalling, begining with the electric plug. Turns out one of the plug wires was broken . Rewired plug ..fired right up. Four years ago.. hasn't ever failed me. Sometimes a little tlc is all that's needed. Best to you and yours.

So I had to do same clean on the Low Speed. Had to buy $7 carby cleaner. That's got this going. Getting the idle threads out was a hack with electronic long nosed pliers. Hi Steve thanks for the video - very helpful I had the same problem on my old ryobi rgbv3100.
Additionally had the impellor freely spinning which I was not sure if it was working correctly, running on a centrifical clutch or otherwise. That may be a good video for you to do replacing impellor. After trying to find some info on how the impellor worked or replacement parts I decided to disassemble - I found that the impellor nut hole had actually been worn out and was free spinning on the shaft bolt. For how long I don't know but the machine was still blowing air regardless.
The unit is so old I did this hack rather than buy replacement part - A pain here in France to find and at this stage was not confident the machine would run well anyway.
    1. Clean impellor especially around nut cavity at back
    2. Sand back rust on drive shaft bolt (you could even modify or notch this to give better interlock with epoxy repair below)
    3. Run teflon plumbing tape around bolt - not thick just to stop epoxy from sticking permanently maybe 1 or 2 turns max.
    4. Start to assemble all the parts to accept the impellor in its final position ie any guards / screws that cannot be accessed need to be tightened and in place before the impellor goes on.
    5. Use kneadable 20minute epoxy and line the inner part of the impellor coupling where its worn out .Carefully put the impellor back in place and block the shaft with screw driver between pull stater and motor, start to tighten down on the impellor bolt without spinning the impellor and deplacing all your epoxy around the nut > as you tighten down the epoxy will be pushed out the back around the nut > you can start to really tighten up the bolt till the impellor is seated correctly
    6. While epoxy is still soft get a knife or screwdriver and scrape the excess away from the back of the impellor without moving the impellor - very important you do not want to let the impellor spin on the shaft and ruin the repair. Let it dry for a few hours before running the machine.
PS I scratched my head working out the access for the high and low rev screws for the repair . They were the interlocking type with red low and white high plastic adjuster covers. To access I had remove/destroy the rubber spacer gromet at the base of the plastic frame to see how it functioned. After that chucked the plastic frame ,rubber and covers and I was left with two super long adjuster screws which I just rubber sheethed after cleaning the ports to keep dust out.

That's awesome that's what this blower of mine was doing just before it stopped working all together. They say online to buy a whole new carburetor but I'm like screw that. There's no fun in buying a whole another carburetor when you can just learn to fix this carburetor. Yeah I also went out and bought a Troy-Bilt leaf blower after my Ryobi wouldn't start. I've had no problems with the Troy-Bilt and it's gone 5 years. The Ryobi lasted me 2 years before it clocked out so it's just been sitting in my pile of fix it for a while thank you so much for the video keep making more videos. I'm wondering if that trick would work on my echo weed eater 225 straight shaft bogs out like that Ryobi blower did for you

After collecting enough two stroke devices, I eventually bought a tuning wand kit on the 'bay, I think it contains drivers for about a dozen different types of mixture screws. One of the better investments I made. I also have the 200mph version blower like this. After cleaning the carb, replacing the lines and adjustment, it's been an excellent unit for my needs. One of the best features, is it puts the exhaust into the blower tube and out the front, instead of back at the operator like my spare McCulloch unit, a big plus for me.

Sweet! A neighbor just gave me a model RYO9550. Took gas cap off and the fuel pick up line was just laying broken off in the gas tank. Spark Plug looks good and feels like it has compression. Hope its a cheap fix

Well it ended up just costing your time and a little bit of carb spray. I love your videos. I spent a bit of time last year trying to get some yard equipment working again. I actually have the bigger ryobi backpack blower and it was doing the same bogging down. Not exactly sure the problem, but it was something with the carburetor ended up just replacing and tuned up the blower as a new carb was cheap and it runs like a dream now. I like this diagnosis of how to fix a small carburetor and may try to see if something is clogged up or if the diafram is bad on the old one so I can just swap it out if the current carb ever has an issue. Keep posting my friend.

It's a good video great tip .that just shows how dumb a lot of people is . Throwing away a good machine that just needs a little TLC. Clean carburetor jet and flesh gas . You.should be able to sell it for at least 65 bucks to 70 . You need to find more machine like that that you can fix for little or no parts. It will help. On beer money.

Great video....these ryobis work...you may have to do a thorough cleaning of the carb from time to time but they work....starting instructions are as goofy as my Weber grill...that's another story.
