Just a thought and something I do with my water hose is I take the blue water filter and hang it off the campground spigot less weight on the outside of the van and less pulling on the internals through the Van Wall
Hubby & I are “wannabe newbie” RVers. I appreciate this video so much- very practical demo of what to do. So many RV videos are just reviewing the RV features. This is so useful! His family tent camped some, my family tent camped & used a pop up trailer to travel from SE to NE to west- we are now retired & I’m working on our travel list! He hates flying so this looks like the best option. Love your videos- keep on making them!
I make sure I use specific drinking water hoses and connect the filter at the faucet end so no impurities get in the hose. It would also be a good idea to use a high quality surge suppressor or an EMS to connect to the power before you connect to the van to make sure the power is good and then if anything happens to the power while you are hooked up it will let you know.
LOVE you two.. What about a POWER SURGE protector?? Should the Water Pressure go on the front end of the line?? PS>. I want Bob to make me a camping breakfast!.. your neighbor down the road…
@@Vancaskeys I would never go without a surge protector. As for water, I don't leave the water hooked up. I fill as needed and disconnect and don't have to worry about problem pressures high or low, or disconnecting when it's time to leave. One morning traveling through Arizona, I had to get to high ground fast and all I had to do was unplug. Knowing a monsoon was coming, I had put the play equipment away the night before. Still barely made it....
My camping guilty pleasure is "Moon Pies." I never eat them at home, but for nastagic reasons from when I was a kid I buy them now on camping trips. Banana is my favorite.
This is the type of video we crave; thank you! We can learn a lot watching super practical videos like this. I very much enjoy watching how much fun you two have on your adventures, but I really value your "teaching" videos. So helpful. Thank you!!
I would install the regulator before the hose, not the van side. Especially with that hose you're using. Best to lower the pressure before the hose and not after it.
@@Vancaskeys Last year, we spent 7 months in our motorhome - never an electrical issue. This summer, we were in an RV park in Amarillo, and the surge cut off power to our coach when the electric in the park surged to 133 volts. It might be something to share with your viewers. I enjoy your content!
2 things: why do you travel with a full tank of fresh water then connect to water when you get to camp? No emf or at least surge protector? Did I miss the video of you installing one on board? One more thing that 10 dollars tire gauge is probably 3+ pounds off either way, your tpms built in to your wheels should be more accurate. Thanks.
We just got back home from camping in the Prescott area in our new B van. Perfecting our packing and what stuff to bring, is kind of fun for me and my wife, coming from travel trailer experience.
Tips for water and electric hookups. On the water hookup take a disinfecting wipe to the faucet before hooking up. One more vote on the pressure regulator on the faucet first then the filter then the hose to the RV. I always taste the water before hooking up some water might be safe to drink but have a bad taste. Sometime you will need the small flex line if the faucet is close to the ground. And another vote for a quality electrical protection unit NOT just a surge protector. You need a unit that will protect your RV from miswired / damaged pedestals but also low and high voltage. I have had my unit save me from low voltage many times.
Hey guys, we love your channel - re the Microwave Oven, we got tired of removing and protecting the glass carousel platter each time we traveled so one time I decided to leave it at home and see how we go. Well, the Microwave worked just fine for our cooking and re-heating needs without it so the glass platter stays home all the time… one less thing to bother with. One thing I did do though was to cut a piece of core-flute to sit in the bottom of the Microwave above the turntable actuator so that we still have a flat surface to place our cookware on. Regards, Downunda - Class B owner, Melbourne Australia
The place that you went to is actually called the Fool Hollow Lake Recreation Area, which is cooperatively managed by the Arizona State Parks, the U.S. Forest Service, the Arizona Game and Fish Department and the City of Show Low.
Bob - for your water supply get yourself a box of quick disconnects "Biswing 3/4 Inch Garden Hose Quick Connector". I put them on every connection and it makes hook up so much easier. Rather that screwing the hose on the bib at the park you screw on the disconnect and then attach the hose. No more wrestling with the hose. Also I like to add a quick on and off part so that when away from the van I can easily turn off the water. "Chapin 6-9481: Deluxe 1-Way Shutoff Hose Connection" or similar. If you have time could you look in to this, I read recently on the water filter that you are suppose to keep it wet. Not sure how this could be done but that is what it says on the filter. At minimum I do think that when connecting to the water system perhaps some water should be rinsed through the filter before connecting. Oh and have you done the semi annual tank sanitize? Thanks for another great video.
Appreciate the tips and how much it takes to go into it all. I'm in Phoenix also and goodness help me, but I'm very interested in a Class B myself for getting away and perhaps eventually, full time van life. A lot of things worry me about it all though including the exorbitant prices of new ones (the Noovo is my favorite since I'm 6'4"). I've done a lot of video watching on this subject and am wanting to go to the RV show here in a week or so just to put eyes on these things for the first time, as part of my research. Not sure if a new van is the way to go but I hate to go used and get someone else's issues (especially because of your Mr. Lemon there). Hopefully there's a good selection to check out there - not buying in the next month or so but perhaps in the next year. In any case, it's great to get this kind of information especially from a fellow Valley dweller. Safe travels!
Always entertaining guys - love your sense of humor. Like other commenters, some suggestions. For water, add a 90 degrees elbow to your setup. This should be the only thing connected and hanging on the van, else you will eventually loosen your city water connector and cause a leak. Then put the pressure gauge on the spigot, which will protect the entire water setup from high pressure. Next is the short filter hose, filter, and then fresh water hose which is connected to the elbow. Next, add an EMS or at minimum a surge protector that tests for reverse polarity and open grounds. This will prevent damage to your rig. I use a Progressive Industries RV Surge Protector, but there are a few reputable items. These are highly recommended. We just completed RT 66 and, on the trip ran into both an open ground issue (had to change site) and a high water pressure campground (170 psi). The open ground can electrocute you should you step barefoot out of the van with your hand on the van. You become the ground. No kidding - check out Keep Your Daydream's "Tanking Nebraska" episode about a month ago!
You guys are scientists, cuz you got this down to a science. Impressive. I make a least 2 extra trips up and down the stairs for the stuff I forget. 😅 Bob's dumpster saunter swagger was a sure sign you guys were made for vanlife.👍🏼😊 You both make it fun every time!🥳 Thank you!!🙏
These seven RVs later I can attest. They always leak when you try to hook up to the water tap. You guys are fine thank you for sharing the set up and get started thoughts.
When you were packing and plugged into shore power at your home were you running your ac plugged into a 15 amp or 30 amp outlet? We have a 2023 Thor Tellaro. 10:16
Great video. I think you are improving your editing and production quality. Are you still thinking about coming out to the Adventure Van Expo in Tahoe? Would love to meet you. Recommend you asked to hang out in STO Row. It’s where all the cool kids hangout. 😎 One thing I have learned to do is to leave a component in the drivers seat as a reminder that something needs to be put away before I drive off. So if I open my vent, I will leave my vent cover in the seat. My power plug has a cover for the part that plugs into the RV. When I plug-in, I take that cover and leave it in the seat. There are also RV, specific slap bands that you can slap onto your steering wheel. Some are pre-printed, and some allow you to write your own reminder on them. Take care and good luck. Will definitely look out for Mr. Lemon if you come out to Tahoe.
I would suggest putting the toilet drop in when you leave your last destination. I fill my tank with a gal of water and my drop in so that it sloshes around and is ready for any emergencies.
There was a Tellaro just like yours on the 91 fwy in SoCal this morning. Either y'all really get around or it wasn't you. It's the first Tellaro we have seen on the road!
You should be using a surge protector for your shore power. Or does the van have one built in? You can easily fry all your electronics on the van if you get a surge.
Your video made me think of the joy and anticipation of getting prepared for a trip. As retirees our trips go from a week to several months. Nonetheless, alot of the same steps we go through when getting ready, setting up and taking down for our camping. Funny, I, the guy, is the big packer and the wife is the minimalist. One observation. I noticed you did not use a portable surge protector. Is yours built in? If not, I would suggest the Power Watchdog with blue tooth. It also has a replaceable surge module.

Does the refrigerator not have it's own switch at the fridge and that is why you turn the main 12 volt power off? And guessing you don't have a remote for the AC unit, it's a strange design if you have to turn the 12 volt on to power up the control panel so that the 120v AC can be turned on from it, when already connected to 30 amp power. Between trips your solar panels should generate enough power to keep your house batteries at 100% charge.
@@Vancaskeys funny story. Our Promaster power steering started making a noise after we power washed it. First thing you should do is to check if water got into the fluid by looking at the reservoir.
