- Princess Catherine and Prince William were given new titles this week!
On April 23, King Charles announced several new appointments for The Order of The Garter…
…including new roles for members of the Royal Family.
The King appointed Princess Kate as the Royal Companion of the Order of the Companions of Honour.
She becomes the first royal ever to receive this title.
Prince William was appointed to be Great Master of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath.
Since 2022, the role had been vacant after King Charles, who held the role from 1974 to 2022, acceded to the throne.

Some more good news after the King's recent announcement...Congratulations to the Prince and Princess of Wales on their new titles and to the Dutchess of Gloucester. Hopefully Princess Catherine is doing well with her recovery.

So good to see the Duchess of Gloucester be given the Order of the Garter. It is a real honour for her, as she is the first one who married into the royal family who isn't the spouse of a monarch to get it. In modern times, the Royal Ladies who have been given the title are Queen Alexandra (the first Royal Lady), Queen Mary, Queen Elizabeth (later Queen Mother) Princess Elizabeth (later Queen Elizabeth II), Princess Anne, Princess Alexandra and Queen Camilla. All either Queens Consort or a born royal. (A little surprisingly, Princess Margaret never got it.) This does open the door for Sophie to be made a member at some point as well. Catherine will of course get the title at some point, but whether she is given it by Charles, or more traditionally by William soon after he becomes King remains to be seen. And congrats to Catherine, William and Camilla on their new honours.
