Can the devil speak true? Act 1, Scene 3 The instruments of darkness to tell us truths Act 1, Scene 3 In heaven their candles are all out Act 2, Scene 1 In the great hand of God, I fight of treasonous malice Act 2, Scene 3 I fear thou play’dst most foully for’t Act 3, Scene 1 - “Your children will be kings” “Not so happy but much happier” “Lesser than Macbeth but greater” “Take my sword” (To Fleance, perhaps he also struggles with the ambition witches gave him, also implied with how he, following this, mentions how the witches made him unable to sleep)
To add to this amazing video, for the last quote to further support it you could use the quote “too cruel anywhere”. Here Banquo is saying that the murder of Duncan would be shocking anywhere and perhaps is acknowledging that the Macbeths dramatic actions (faint + killing guards in a fit of rage) is excessive and they may be trying to establish their innocence through outrage/melodrama.
Do u think i could speak about how macbeth lets the witches corrupt him whilst banquo rebukes it. 'Instruments' of darlness being like how he releaises there manipulating and *playing* macbeth to get there desired outcome of macbeths life u would to get ur desired sound pf a instrument. And macbeth is attracted by a dagger whilst banquo offers fleance his 'sword' which id go further on
Yes but be careful not to use the word “playing” as it’s too informal - use words like manipulating, indoctrinating and say the Witches plant seeds of ambition in Macbeth’s mind
I noticed in the first 3 quotes Banquo uses a metaphor, " the devil", "instruments of darkness" "their candles are all out". Does this suggest anything about Banquo, or is it just a reflection of Shakespeare's writing style?
Banquo dies in the middle (Act 3, Scene 3) so beyond this point in the play, there aren't any Banquo quotes as he's killed basically in the middle of the play.

@FirstRateTutors yh thanks I just meant the idea of the same way you'd play an instrument

Could it be because Darkness is a symbol for death, and these metaphors which connote darkness foreshadow his death due to a tyrant
the instrument could suggest the witches are playing with the characters lives and the darkness suggests their evil intent.
Day before gang 💪
easiest literature paper 1 I've ever taken
hi do you need to know quotes for Malcolm I'm not sure if it's worth time remembering quotes for him?
Not really - he isn't a central character
@@FirstRateTutors ok thank you
in my opinion maybe learn 1 or 2, incase an essay on kingship comes up :)
@@eva9069 ok I will thanks!
How many quotes do u recommend knowing for Macbeth and lady Macbeth

These are brilliant quotes but there is lots for the beginning but what about middle and end?
