In this DCS World Simulator video CasmoTV is flying the AH64 Apache and I'm his gunner in a very realistic mission. Thanks for Casmo for the help. Hope you guys enjoy!
When you read "AH-64 with real pilot" in relation to DCS, you always know Casmo is going to be piloting lol. I love the relationship between real pilots and simmers. There used to be a lot of animosity between the two but I feel like DCS has bridged the gap between us.
a collegue of mine is a real pilot in the guard that plays dcs and loves it. he said when he first started, it was like shooting fish in a barrel, but now, its a real battle.
@@roromad9603 I have a friend who was an Apache Pilot during the war in Afghanistan. So I sent him some vids of the Apache in DCS, and he was SUPER impressed, saying that it looks and flies EXACTLY like the real one.
What an awesome mission!! So much to learn, but the air to ground was BRUTAL!! Did 5 tours in Iraq and flew a ton of missions on the Blackhawks. Honor and Respect to all of those guy's,
@@2MartSaar I didn't fly attack helicopters I was with ground troops getting air support when we were taking fire. I flew on Blackhawks for missions and moving from Fob to FOB.
Agree with you, LS - this helicopter mission was indeed cool... ..."cool as HELL!" (and imo your guest pilot added a very authentic touch to great vid - well done!)
Hey Longshot and GS! As an Old Navy rotor head, you really have to be one together. HSL-7 of the 44th Dusty dogs. We hunted submarines off CV67 Big John 90 to 96. 1st tour was Kuwait. Yep, that's where they pop my cherry. Many other functions other than hunting subs but that was our designation. Between myself and the co-pilot in the engineer and 2 gunnies. It's got to be one fluid motion. Sometimes just one gunny but you guys looked great out there. Did really well long shot You both look good
This has to the most interesting DCS video I've ever seen! I have such a soft spot for helicopters and the Apache in particular. As a kid I played sims from LHX: Attack Chopper to Jane's AH-64D Longbow in the '90s way more than fixed wing simulators because of the different pace and the feeling of being in the thick of it as opposed to fast and high above. Its just so satisfying sneaking up on your objective, peek over a ridge or tree line to scope it out, make a plan and then execute it. It doesnt get better than having a real Apache pilot enabling you to do what the Apache does best and end it on a conversation. 👍
23:31 - DA HELL YOU SAY! Rotary wings are their own kind of sexy, & jets cannot even compare because their sexy is a totally different thing. My uncle was a CH-53 Squadron Cpt'n. In the U.S.M.C., so rotary wing aircraft have a special place in my heart.
I hope that in 10-15 years, the AI will be able to "talk" like you guys do in "combat", and thus us, single player people can have this amount of fun in our gameplay.
It is not going to take near that long. It is possible right now and being tested today. Next 2-5 years you will see AI implemented heavily into everything in our lives including sims (assuming it doesn’t decide to eradicate us…..seriously it is VERY strong possibility)
@@williammathis6044 We are still waiting for dynamic campaigns ... so, yeah, i'm putting my money on the 10-15 years time frame, not the 2-5 years one :)

Great video LS! Love the Two Morons series, but this had its own coolness factor. Thank you for your service Casmo. My favorite is the Huey and the little birds. Would love to see you two so a Vietnam helicopter mission.
The steaks are on you and Casmo, but very well done! Nice to hear Casmo is going to have Hugh Mills back on! @Longshot, Hugh Mills wrote the book Low Level Hell about his experiences as a scout pilot in Vietnam. Casmo named his podcast after the book.
Hugh Mills is a friend of mine, I get the honor of flying a LOH with him a couple of times a year. His book was required reading for us when I was in HS-11 "Dragonslayers"...
That video was quite different! It felt almost like a real world video...very interesting! And Casmo seems like a really nice guy!! Longshot - thank you for sharing the video Sir! Stay safe!
Hello, I'm really amazed. What if someone masters the Apache Ah-64 in DCS, or as a weapons officer knows everything about the DCS, then he could theoretically and practically act just as well in a real Ah-64. Guys like that would be gold for the army. Are there cases where players have already applied like this? They are a lot ahead of the pilots who are being trained for it. Am I correct? Maybe a real pilot could answer that. I'm from Germany and I would be interested to know if something like that is possible. There would only be advantages. Greetings and a happy new year.
Longshot is right, helicopters are so cool, they are infantry men's guardian angel. Maybe they are cool also because of a black and white helicopter that was on TV screens in the 80's...
Does DCS have Ground vehicles? If that was the case, I would play for sure. (I am a retired M1A2SEPv2 Tank Commander). Imagine the Air/Ground collaboration that can happen if there was indeed ground vehicles in the game. Man, That would bring me back to my Deployment, FTX, CAPSTONE exercise days.
Hi Longshot, as an ex-grunt I love helicopter sims. We used to rely on chopper support so much more than the fast movers. Please keep making these video's. And thank you Casmo, it is great to see a pilot with your experience in the video.

Seen Casmo before, and he's EPIC Something i wanted to mention- and it's something i've been calling out recently on forums/reddit- Modern Day Thermals /Targeting pods on US aircraft- CAN build a track file and do point track-like tracking of enemy aircraft - so Russian aircraft are NOT the only ones that can do the sneaky infrared radar-off approaches. If ONLY DCS would implement this- It's also why modern vipers/hornets/eagles/even Raptors are getting IRSTs- for air combat and to help take on enemy stealth planes This video was EPIC- and i loved the collab! Longshot the infrared ghost- now in choppers! This was sick- and Casmo is a MEAN rocket pod gunner WHAT WAS THAT at 10:56? Lol, Helmet projection of the thermal? That was COOL

Always impressed with DCS and this crew too. Fantastic clip.
9:47 when you have enemy forces to bomb but freebird comes on your radio
I've worn these gloves a lot during vehicle maintenance/operations - for a couple seconds I thought the opening 0:18 scene was real footage.

Awesome video. I miss working on those sexy half broke beasts. I was a 15y for 8 years.
9:45 got a dude performing guard patrol of an anthill!
DCS really needs to improve the infantry
Everybody knows you gotta run in circles and moonwalk with your RPG after your crash your vehicle through the corner of the building.
I'm not even into helicopters, but this was really fun to watch. Nice one, LS!
Thanks!
“I love rockets” Casmo did the thing!

No. I would like to start at some point

In real life wouldnt these people on the ground just hear there is a helicopter over them?
They're not nearly as close as the FLIR Longshot is looking through makes it appear.

9:18 before you finally fire a shot. Work on that.
If the previous vids of the Huey minigun are any indication don't let Longshot shoot the gun! 😆
and if you have to, tell him to shoot everything EXCEPT the Target!
