Inspirational talk Hayley. Your goal to become a Doctor further emphasizes exactly what this talk is all about. Drive, determination and desire to become a player, not just in the hockey world. If you go at it like you did on the ice, there is no doubt you will obtain your goals! Good luck!

This is a crazy impressive talk! I am an occupational therapist by trade. I am also a 2x TEDx Talker. I know a fellow Canadian and Olympic gold medalist is now an occupational therapist and motivational speaker. Keep living your dreams!
By the way, I have a few of my own reasons to buck it with my career as an occupational therapist. First, I am an Asian man. The occupational therapy profession are mostly filled with white women. So that place me as an ethnic minority. Second, I have a disability in autism. For people with this disability, although there is now an increasing number, is still relatively low in this field. Third, I travel around internationally to not only attend conferences, but also present on a regular basis. This is very rare for newer practitioners to do. I chose to do it because I believe my message and views needed to be heard in the global community of occupational therapy... as peers like me with autism are not as open about their issues. Now that I have been through it, though, I can sure help other autistic OT's like myself to fulfill their maximum potential by giving guidance... because I pave the way to serve in leadership positions and explore opportunities that are out there but not many are taking advantage of.
