I have never forgot the 1987 Indy 500. I was rooting for Mario so much.....and he absolutely dominated that race. Then with about 23 laps left something failed in the engine/fuel system. He was 47 years old that year and I remember after the race thinking that was probably his last great chance to win the 500 again.
I have always respected Andretti. He is quite a humble nice man!
what a humble man
Such a welcome change from these modern-day Prima-Donna's who think they are owed a living! This man has known both sides and seems to know that he is not only talented, but lucky too. Good on you Mr. Andretti.
I love watching Mario’s interviews.
Along with Gilles Villeneuve, Mario Andretti is certainly the most likeable and authentic man in the history of motorsport. His modest origins certainly have a lot to do with it. Long life to his person.
Wow, what a great story. Mr. Andretti is quite a remarkable individual. Mr. Bensinger, you really elicit great storytelling from your guests in your interviews. Thank you for bringing these to us. I am particularly fascinated by the Niki Lauda interview clips as well.
