    I did 121,000 miles in a 1984 308 GTS QV. Never had a single breakdown yet I thrashed the hell out of it every day. Most reliable car I have ever owned. Thinking about getting another.

    I've always loved the 308/328. I prefer the exterior of the 308 and interior and drive train of the 328. Gorgeous iconic vehicle

    Over the years, I've owned a lot nice sports cars, some of them being a1979 Ferrari 308gt. a Ferrari 355F, a 2006 Ford GT, a 2001 Corvette, 1972 Pantera, a 1997 Lotus Esprit and my choice of the best car among these all is the the 328 shown in this video. It has the best sound other than the 355 and it always feels like the car is at the edge of control or non-control from 55+ depending on the road. No real problems with it, sits ultra low like you are in a go cart, good visibility, potential to be used as an everyday drive car and the looks are classic.

      I agree I am restoring 2 more of these at the moment and absolutely love them even though I own a 95 F355 GTB I still enjoy these earlier cars on the backroads they are so much fun.

    Excellent review of the 328! Yes, they are indeed fantastic.
    One minor nitpick is that all ABS 328s came with the convex wheels, BUT, not all of the 88 cars came with ABS. It was optional on the earliest ones, becoming standard later on. All 89s for example had ABS as standard IIRC.

    • @autofanaticcars
      @autofanaticcars  2 года назад +3

      Thanks for the info! the one I was looking at buying two years ago was disclosed as an 88.5 model it had these convex wheels but did have ABS i think it goes based on the VIN# sequence on these as this option was added midway towards the end of production. I also think ABS on these older cars is not needed considering how careful we drive them these days. Thanks for watching this review.

    • @davidsteinberg3663
      @davidsteinberg3663 2 года назад +1

      @@autofanaticcars with Ferrari, one never knows. VIN sequencing wasn’t always consistent. And that was across all models. On the Mondial 3.2, they offered ABS beginning in 1987. But it was optional at the start of that year. All 3.2 cars had convex wheels beginning in 86. My 3.2 coupe is an 87, but didn’t have ABS. It’s true, driving it carefully, it really hasn’t been needed. Supposedly those early systems are a bit more maintenance to do.

    • @autofanaticcars
      @autofanaticcars  2 года назад +1

      yeah the earlier ABS is a bit funky how they work even on the F355 it feels so slow to respond compared to any modern car. Back then Mercedes and BMW had the best integration of ABS systems i feel. I have my radar out to find a 328 now and I am looking at the 87-89 cars specifically. Shoot me some photos of yours via email would love to check it out and chat some more.

    $80 - 100k to the 328 GTS's value.

    I owned the last year of production for the Ferrari 308GT4. Designed by Bertone as a 2+2 mid-engine wedge shape, giving the driver a forward driving position, with a shorter front hood and a better view of roadway for easier entering & exiting corners. So, do yourself a favor and test drive a GT4, before you buy a any 308 GTB/GTS.
    Mine was also the last of the Weber Carb. 308's, that made that vintage Ferrari music. After, 26 years of owning my GT4, it amazed me how reliable it was. The only time I needed a flatbed was for a waterpump failure. To date, I have yet to find another car that pushes all the right buttons, as my Ferrari.

    These Ferrari 308/328 body styling/looks is definitely its plus points with the all around double wish bone suspension. As for the engine its the power band usable between 4500 ~ 7000 RPM is a bit disappointing.

    Awesome video and review. Compared to owning a 348 or 355F1, how would you describe cost of ownership / maintenance?

    • @autofanaticcars
      @autofanaticcars  2 года назад +6

      Hi the 308 and 328 are much easier to own and maintain than lets say a F355 or Testarossa, based on labor to do major stuff on the engines and cost of actual parts. All of the older cars are great to actually work on yourself if you are capable and enjoy doing such. The 308 and 328 belt service is very easy and the parts are cheaper and the engine does not need to come out all the time or even at all for that matter so this is always the big fear people have with these older Ferrari models. Overall I absolutely love the 328 GTS and would like to own one someday they will never go out of style.

    You cannot even compare the two cars. The 328 is 10 times better in every way, but still far too slow as Ferrari just sold cars on their name only. The 308 was a massive joke, and the 328 needed at least another hundred horsepower to consider as at least a performance car.
