One of my all time favorite fighters!! Most of his fights would be stopped today. He was NEVER out of a fight in his prime. It pains me to think he died virtually penniless and forgotten. I live in Harrisburg Pa and Philly is only a 2 hour drive. Had I known how to find him, I would have helped him in some way. They dont make them like him anymore. RIP

He was inspirational to me as a teenager. I’m glad he is being exposed to some younger folks. He made the absolute most out of what he had. You can’t ask more of that out of a man. Thanks Rich!

Probably the single best kayo punch Saad ever threw. It looked like Razor Ruddock's "smash" punch (hybrid hook/uppercut).

I watched Matt in many exciting fights in Philly at the old Spectrum fights…the man always gave it his all for the fans…it saddens me to see how his life turned out after boxing…homeless…bankrupt and dementia…when he was making money he was surrounded by people when the paychecks stopped so did the so called friendships…those people should rot in hell…R.I.P. Champ from just a Philly former kid that would take the subway from the Logan section sit in the cheap balcony seats just to see the Champ.

Yeah it PATHETIC that he was abandoned as a child and when he won the championship his "family" came running back with their hands out! RIP Champ

I'm sure I saw this fight on ABC, but I remember nothing of this fight. The ko punch looked like it missed his body & only hit the chin.

yeah I dont know why Chris Schenkle kept saying it hit the body? I think Saad may have intended it to be a body shot, but Pergaud leaned into it. Great punch
