    Coming from R/C, if you have already invested in a smart charger- you can build your own 18650 packs and not use a BMS, it's your call. Nice idea, I've had 3 StupidBright lights fail due to vibration- the automotive light bar is a great idea. The higher end bike lights are not worth the cost.

      Thanks for your comment. I have done that and it works pretty good. Have a look at my version 2 light. I had many comments that people wanted something easier to build and purchase. I.e. plug and play so I came up with this battery system.

    Thanks for your video. Pair any 12v automotive, motorcycle or atv light with a battery jumper pack. I recommend a yesper. Besides the 2 usb and usb-c ports, it has a standard 12v barrel port and a 12v jumper cable port. My setup was a fog light consisting of 6 high power led and one battery jumper pack using the 12v barrel port. My pack is rated 24000mah/88.8wh. I can ride my bike 6+ hours. My setup cost $130 ($10 fog light + $120 jumper pack) but to me it didn’t cost me anything because I needed a jumper pack that could start a big block V8.

      Yes, those jump packs are another option. They can be a bit bulky but if you’re not concerned about that then it will work great. Cheers.

      @@MikeFreda Thanks again for your idea. You are right about the weight. I will now use my 18v Makita power tool battery instead for local riding. But I will still have the option to bring my jumper pack when we go camping or to the beach. The 12v LED light market is so awesome. I will now convert all my Classic Cars to LED. Thanks and keep up the good work. 👍

    Funny! I have your 1 Watt Amp series open in another tab and then I got sidetracked and started looking into DIY MT bike lights and clicked one of the top google links and here you are again! Nice work on the videos, I will have to check out more.

    I built a very similar light to use on my mx bike, yz250 and wife's kx100. These bikes don't have charging circuit or batteries to run lights so I had to come up with something for winter rides. I used a cb antenna bracket to mount to the 31.8 mm handlebar.
    The cb bracket clamping side was to small n bolts were to short so I used a small u bolt n trimmed to fit. Easy n light enough. I run dewalt 20v max lithium batteries as the first light you used is for 12v and 24v systems. Works great

    well, you went from a brighter light,. to a less brighter light, smooth move hehe

    • @MikeFreda
      @MikeFreda  2 года назад +1

      Well, sort of. It’s a smaller package, lighter and still gives off enough light to ride at night. Just showing people options. The ultimate plan is to install two of these lights to give a high and low option. Thanks for commenting! Cheers.

    i really like this. looking forward to making my own. how about a waterproof 12v socket built into headest. so lights can be left in place permanently? not sure if it would fit. then plug battery in. also use the stem bolts to keep thing central and minimal.

    Hey nice video i prefer your old battery system using the 18650 samsung cells could you please make a new model with a light bar and use vruzends solderless battery systems and heat shrink it to look like actual battery. Also add a switch for it, I’m really intrested to build my own for my emoto bikes i have a surron and kuberg freerider, i go on night rides and am unable to see anything, having to navigate from my friends lights

    The only problem I find with these lights & most cycle lights, is that they tend to blind oncoming traffic. I was cycling down a down hill lane once & came across a group of MTB'ers standing on the opposite side of the road & I was blinded by their lights, I had to drop from 30mph to about 5mph, after that, my eyes were bleeding, well, felt like it anyway 😬

    • @MikeFreda
      @MikeFreda  Год назад

      Yes. They are bright especially if they are not aimed right. Sometimes if I ride on the road a for a bit I’ll bring/use one of those mini handlebar light that you stretch around the bar. Just enough light to let people see you. Cheers.

    Where did u get the power cord for 12v output from the battery pack

    • @MikeFreda
      @MikeFreda  2 года назад +3

      The light and switch had wire already attached to it. The Jack is repurposed from an old AC adapter and the remaining cable is from an old house lamp that I cut off and repurposed. Cheers
