I picked up eXistenZ (one of Cronenberg’s best, in my opinion) and D.A.R.Y.L. at my local Vinegar Syndrome Archive Store during a Black Friday Sale party!
I'm still waiting on my black friday haul.
So jealous. Haven’t gotten a shipping notification from Severin, VS or Kino yet.
I've recently received my order of Danza Macabra Volume 2 from Severin, but that's all I've gotten from anyone out of all my orders lately... 🤣

That Prophecy set looks very disappointing. I just ordered a set from Diabolik yesterday because I felt like I missed out and now I'm sort of regretting it. I watched the first two in the theaters and all I remember about the movie was that Glenn Danzig was in the second one for like 3 seconds. I also ordered Existenz from Diabolik since I was also feeling like I missed out. I watched that movie when it came out on video and I don't remember much about it. Videodrome and A History of Violence are Cronenberg's best movies, in my opinion.
i placed 2 different orders on the vs black friday sale and i haven't heard nothing from them 3 weeks later if my stuff is delayed fine but at least tell me i just got an email from kino lorber saying one of the orders that i place during there sale is delayed till January, they are having manufacturing delays with 2 days in the valley so if you ordered that now you know
Hope you get your order soon! They exist! I got my order a few days ago. I didn't realize 2DitV has a slipcover when I ordered it, so that was a nice surprise. Looking forward to watching it, but there are about 30 movies ahead of it in the queue. 😲
As nice as the special packaging is, they are too expensive to import. Their standard editions on the other hand are nicely priced and i usually get them for around 25-27 Euros including shipping. The a/v and extras are always great and that's what matters to me. It's the same thing with Second Sight. Arrow Limited Editions are really the only ones i buy regularly because i can get them for around 30-35 Euros, which is excellent for what you get.
I just watched Existenz for first time ever. It is interesting movie and 4K looks very very good!
At their "Half-Way-To" sale, I pre-ordered D.A.R.Y.L. and The Prophecy Trilogy. Then, usin' the discount code from that, pre-ordered Existenz and the limited RAD VHS (latter because it looked cool and I already have their 4K). Got notice, the other day, that both orders have shipped.

They couldn't remain interested and the Tenant's Office president said maybe is too serious for them too grown up. Well I took the disc out. And what did they put to entertain themselves? Tik Tok....😭 I'm afraid that these kids when they grow up won't care about movies at all!😥
You think $75 for 3 Prophecy 4Ks is a lot? I paid for The Kindred Blu-ray single disc steelbook $70!🤔 Anyway good pick-ups and cool video Ken!👉🙂👈
Hey Ken, I bought D.A.R.Y.L. as well but I just noticed that the aspect ratio on the back of the case states 1.85:1 but that is incorrect. It's actually the scope ratio of 2.39:1. Also the case has reversible artwork. Cheers. Gaz.

I ordered eXistenZ, The Incredible Melting Man, Madman, and Cloak & Dagger. I’m still waiting on them, they still just say “Order has been placed.”
VS actually doubles up movies on a single disc more often than you’d think, doesn’t really bother me though
When I re-examined what I spent at VS over the last two years, it's actually making me consider a subscription next year... 🤣
I also was hoping for original artwork on the reverse in the Prophecy & now that you mentioned it…I’m a bit bummed I spent so much on it.
I love good movies on physical media. Vinegar syndrome delivers about 1 in 1000 good movies.
I'd say they have a better ratio than that. At least 2 per 1000. 😂

It’s 3 movies. Look how much other cost for just one with a slip. 35-40 for one movie. We as collectors are getting the best sets we ever have. Let’s not ruin it.

I went to their website and couldn't find any of these movies. What gives ❓ Sometimes I feel like you have not really seen that movies. I can't believe you haven't seen the Prophecy among other well known movies 🍿😲
Now, if vinegar syndrome put out flight of the navigator on 4k like that daryl release THEN i would definitely be all over it....nostalgia is big with me its just daryl wasnt one of my favorites as a kid.
I think that's Disney, so probably won't happen.

Ihhh Prophecy is a title a friend loved but I saw bits of and thought it was trash - but these days old trash is better then new gold so I may like it - BUT - that split disk bullshit is piss poor for that money so I hope waiting it out is a good strategy. $70 for 4 discs on split discs in one case - not good

Yeah I really wasn't trying to complain too much. It's nice, but not 75 nice.
You're missing the total package. 3-4Ks at $25 a piece isn't a bad deal including the thicker packaging. You are hung up on the individual package at $75 when there are three movies in it. Xistenz and D.A.R.Y.L. are one movie each for $45 each including the packaging. I personally would like to see a 4K Crocodile Dundee three movie set since Croc is with Paramount.
Also, most of other companies would have only put them out on 2K. 4K is riskier because it it cost more to master and they don’t know how well it will sell. Would you rather have paid $45 for a Blu-ray set?
Every Black Friday I go to their store (The Archive) and was in the first 10 people or so, and these all we’re getting EATEN UP! I grabbed a few of these and was super happy. I still may be grabbing The Prophecy box set, but wasn’t a huge fan on ExistenZ

You definitely got screwed on the Prophecy set. For $75 you should've gotten a whole lot more. But with that being said. The first movie is the only good one. The sequels aren't good. And I saw Existinz back in the 90s. And completely forgot about it. Not one of Cronenberg best IMO.

It's not sold out yet. Vinegar Syndrome just doesn't sell VS titles during Dec (they only sell partner label titles during Dec.). But once the full site opens back up in Jan, this edition will be available again until it sells out (they apparently sold about 2/3 of their stock during BF weekend).
