    Made this tonite with cubed pork cutlets I needed to get out of the freezer. Substituted Tamarind paste for Oyster sauce and Teriyaki Marinade for dark soy since they were what I had on hand. DELICIOUS! Thanks so much.

    I made this today and it was nice. My mum enjoyed it too which is a big deal. She rarely compliments my cooking 😀😀
    But I think to cut down the calories next time I would bake chicken n skip the flour too. The rest I would do the same.

    hi, is there any extra coating of cornflour before frying? did not state in the recipe but it seems the pork had been coated a layer of flour before frying.

    For those without some/all of the ingredients, try light soy sauce, mirin, molasses, liquid smoke, honey, oyster sauce, fish sauce, sesame oil, star anise. Use spare ribs instead of loin chops.

    hi! hope you don't find this question weird. But, I'm just learning my way around the kitchen so, really need to ask... When do you use white pepper vs black pepper? I've been seasoning meat with black pepper, rarely with white ones, so would appreciate your input. thanks again!

      Hihi. No problem at all. Usually in Chinese dishes, we use white pepper because it is less pungent than black pepper. Unless the dish calls for it eg black pepper crabs, black pepper Udon etc. Otherwise we will always use white pepper. Hope this explains.

    How come for the marinade in your sweet and sour pork ribs you added egg, but this recipe doesn't need? What's the difference?

      Hihi. Baking powder helps to tenderize the pork. You can omit it but I would recommend you to add it.

      Are you using baking powder as said .. or baking soda .. bicarbonate of soda .. I use baking powder to rise baked products .. thankyou for your great channel

    what heat do you cook the sauce? I tried this and it took awhile for the sauce to reduce becuase I didn't want to do it as a high heat since the honey would burn.

      Ya they are different. Usually Roland will refer Shaoxing wine as Chinese cooking wine. If he says rice wine then he means Chinese white rice wine.
