just don't fight the tape. Dividend stocks are great, and if you invest the divvies in bad times, that makes it easier to deal with the psychology of a bear market. You just tell yourself you're buying stuff at a bargain. As long as the long-term secular trend is good, you're good. (If however we get into a Japan 1990 situation or God forbid, something like Germany 1943, then you need to have a ripcord to pull).
