It’s their own Western Digital hard drive but they replaced the sata connector with a micro USB for some weird reason

impractical was building adapter circuitry to convert ordinary SATA drives to USB, though that leaves us without the ability to convert desktop drives into internal ones
@@Jason75913 but if the hard drive fails wouldn’t I just get a new one because of the broken mechanism or the data getting erased by a magnet

@@Jason75913 I’m better off buying the wireless drive since it has a removable hard drive but I’m not sure about this new my passport ultra from 2018 which has a USB type C connector for faster speeds and compatibility with newer MacBooks without having to buy a dongle i’m not sure if it’s sata with a board converting it into USB just like the wireless or even every other external hard drive in existence or a USB drive just like the entry level my passport and WD elements

these hard drives are fuckin useless! They made it so you can do anything else with it.
BUT like the vid. Wasn't sure if there was a bunch of stuff in there I'd break by prying into it! lol figured it was just empty. Swapping all my HDDs to SSDs...finally.

Can this external drive once it is out like that it's data be extracted with a sata or adapter??? Pls help
No - most of these external drives (at least from WD) do not have a sata port. Aparently it's possible to access the SATA lines, but that would be complicated. No point to shuck the drive to use it in another system.
i prefer to use drives with a sata to usb wire for external storage, anybody else do the same?

Apparently it does not. It has the USB controller and interface soldered directly into the drive's circuit board.

@@BilalInamdar Oh, that's sad to hear. I just sent my old WD Passport before for RMA, but they just sent me a new drive (data recovery not included). As long as the disk platters are still intact, it can still be sent to a data recovery specialist in your locality. Refrain from using it to reduce further damage to the disk (especially if you hear clicking or scratching sounds from the drive).
