Specify random reasons, ppl who are used to have things going their way will think dad didn't let me go to a party since I have a test tommorow as something not random.
While kids who have their parents yelling at them every day for no reason will think that's just a random thing
they're almost definitely dead so it's probably not an if
Rest in peace you will be missed as a dad who actually wants whats best for his son or daughter
This breaks my heart. A lot of North Korean defectors r full of so much guilt, that some end up returning.
What is it? 3 generations punishment?
My heart goes down to 8 generation…
ALL of them were beyond bravery… I bow to the family..🙏
This is so sad, but that's such a awesome father
Dad was the most selfless person ever.
I really want to know what happened to his family tho.
They most likely got tortured to death, as is policy in North Korea to deter people from fleeing.
We’ll probably never know
I think we all know what happened to the rest of the family. That's not really what the story is about
detention camp. If one of your family escaped NK, the whole family that's left will suffer.
there is a rule in north korea that if one person escaped the country all of their other family members will either be killed or tortured badly for life...
I wouldn't be able to do that man knowing that my dad was going to be killed. I couldn't do that then. But what ended up happening to his parents man? That's like the best part of the story like what happened
When someone escapes 3 generations are either killed as punishment or lifetime imprisonment of hard labor in a prison camp ... its a testament to how desperate families are that they still help their youth escape knowing the outcome for the rest of them left behind

@@amandamckinney6331 that seems like a massive waste of money and a rebellion just waiting to happen. People get angry and take action when they have nothing to lose.
@zaingamingtv2242 I'm just saying what the escaped NK say both the military high and low ranks and civilian class that have escaped... they say that because they don't have access to outside media and what they do have is dangerous to get and get caught with as well as the fact that they have a whole regiment who's sole purpose is to spie on their own people and report ANY anti KIM rhetoric that most of the country doesn't know they are being lied to and they absolutely believe they are top of the tech and military food chain... most of the country is so steeped in KIMs godlike image that they really do love and feel deep patriotic pride in their country... its the ones who get glimpses and stuff of the outside that start to realize somethings wrong with the way they live... sometimes it's just a desperate need for food that makes them take rhe risk of the trying to reach another country even though many said they still believed that other countries beat rape and mass murder their own people like the KIm regime claims...
An honorable dad that man had, *if we all just had a dad with the same passion :(*
well i have such dad
You can see the pain in that boy’s eyes. Kudos to his father supporting his son, even though it most likely cost his life. I’m sure this boy will go to high places in life, knowing how hard everything was around him.
Everybody's talking about dad's sacrifice but no one's talking about the son's selfish acts even though he knew the consequences his family would've had to face. I'm trying my best not to judge here since I'm not in their shoes but I'd NEVER let my parents suffer so horribly because of me.
Well I guess we know who the favorite child of this family was
The dad literally sacrificed the life's of his own family to give his one son a good life
my heart 😢
that dad has earned my respects ❤️
i hope the family is doing well...

Survivor’s guilt is probably the #1 thing preventing people from escaping. The idea that your family will be killed for your freedom is terrifying. I just hope his extended family wasn’t also punished for it.
I sure hope their family is okay so sad but how beautiful the sacrifice his family did for him
That guy has some insane dad lore
The true meaning of fatherly love offering to put your own life and the ones you love up just for your children to live the life you had wished more could’ve gotten
Really hope the family is doing well mad respect
The dad is really supportive that he sacrificed his self just for her son to get a good life all parents had my respect
"The hardest choices requieres the strongest wills"
It was NOT easy for the dad to let his son go and It wasn't easier for Jong but he had will and I respect the dad for that
A true father, one who cared not for his life, but for his child’s safety and security. I salute this man for showing what a true father is willing to do for his family. o7
What a great dad he is. Despite knowing that the whole family is gonna receive punishment he still cared for his son.
