Dartmouth native, living in the US for the past 20 years. A guy I work with from Saudi Arabia when he found out I was from Dartmouth started quoting TPB lines at me. He said it's his favorite show ever.
Not a rapper, but boy can he motor through his script like one. TPB is a goldmine of good actors, look at teetotal John Dunsworth playing probably the most believable drunk you'll see on TV.
John Dunsworth goes on About Rob Wells being an excellent actor, and JD should know, being a proper stage actor

wheelmanstan I think JP does a pretty good job as far as the facial expressions goes, he's a character that everyone respects, so when someone fucks with him, he's by far predictable, as for Ricky, he's got the loud mouth, and every time he fights it get's really pathetic, and that's what's brilliant, two characters that are totally different in the right ways, Robb is a great actor though, I think he struggles staying in character live, understandable as Ricky would be quite exhausting for any actor, but Robb is perfect for the role,
I loved that scene when Ricky was taking back some stuff he gave to J-Rock and they kept accidentally pressing the buttons to make it say "J-Rock, baby!" over and over again during the fight.
Ricky: I went over to the laundry room and found some more equipment, and so i took it... *cut to Ricky hauling a fucking washing machine in a cart* I took his washing machine too, cause fuck it, might as well!. Such a memorable scene.

He was a talk show host before TPB. Him and John Dunsworth were the only established actors on the show when it started. Their experience realy helped make the show and guide the other actors.
I still laugh thinking of J’Roc’s mom telling him, “maybe it’s time for you to go get a job. You know what I’m sane?,”.

They were such good actors that as a 13 year old it was so hard to tell if this was actually a documentary at times or a comedy show.
I watched every episode probably ten times I just keep watching every season then repeat season 7 episode 3 when ray hits that tree and donny says "Have another drink Ray!!! Is my favorite moment

I recently discovered the show on Netflix, and saw the whole show while high. It was fucking hilarious!
J-roc was one of the top characters
The transformation this man does, between whatever person he pretends to be, and back to his real self (J Roc) is amazing.

All the cast from TPB are awesome in "real life". They will be out and about in downtown Halifax grabbing a donair (look it up, kids) and ALWAYS have time to chat with us "common folk". Their behind the scenes stories are a hoot.

I’m from Michigan, so please forgive me for my ignorance about the subject. Well Bro, you said grabbing a donair right? Well almost every time the TPB’s shoot a scene at the king of donair, especially at night, I would laugh my ass off because people would be dancing and partying in and outside of the restaurant - I thought it was just something they did on the show. Well I was down the rabbit hole on RUclips one night, and I somehow came across the real deal. I seriously thought it was a TPB deleted scene for a second, but then it dawned on me. It looked like so much fun man, all types of people were partying and dancing and just having a blast....I need to get over to Halifax. You guys know how to do it up big over there.
Sorry for the long post, but I had to share that with a fellow neighbor to the northeast.

That is the mark of a great actor. When you genuinely believe the character on screen is real. Like on the Sopranos there were guys (Furio, Richie Aprile & Ralph Cifaretto) people ("fans") actually HATED those guys in real life. Look on the comments section of a Sopranos clip, a decade later, people still loathe those guys, and they were actors. This guy is fantastic.

They can tell whatever kinda story they want, it doesn't have to be real because what matters is the effect the words have on others. Rapping is poetry and poetry is literature. I met Jonathan Torrens at the Sobeys in Windsor NS, maybe around 2000 or 2001? He was really cool. We chatted for a couple minutes, talked about Jonovision, had a couple laughs. I'm not sure if TPB was a thing then or just getting started. But he was really easy to talk to, he didn't try to brush me off, but rather seemed to genuinely enjoy talking to me for those few minutes. I asked him 'What TF are you doing in this place?' and he said he used to live down Chester Road, but was living in Toronto now, he was home for a visit. I think he said his parents still lived out that way at the time. I didn't want to stop the man from his grocery shopping and family visit, so I wished him luck with his career and went on my way. Next time I saw him, he was playing J-Roc on TPB.

This guys an enigma. I love how he can snap in and out of character.
One of my favorite moments is when Bubbles, Julian and J Rock are returning on the ice cream selling bicycles to the motel and they notice Julian's car has been stripped. "Oh hell nah, Julian peep your whip dawg" J rock is pedaling fast swaying back and forth "awwww" 🤣😭 and just seeing Julian on a bike with his drink in his hand added to that scene so perfectly.
LOVE every character on this show. I own all 9 seasons and all movies. Mr. Dunsworth puts Foster Brooks TO SHAME. Amazing talent and am glad the entire world gets to enjoy them!
Seeing stuff like this really shows what absolute amazing actors these guys are.
Trailer Park Boys (when John was still alive) could do no wrong for me I loved it and the older seasons had/still have a cult classic feeling to them.

Lived in Dartmouth, by the new bridge (when I was serving in the navy) and would see these guys shooting everywhere and thought nothing of it. Who would have thought how contagious they were going to become around the world. Happy for them of course. Jonathan, you did a great job with J-Roc but seeing you on CBC years earlier, I don't know how you plunked into this spot lol.
