    If you had to, would you be able to shoot with a fully manual budget lens like this? Are you a slave to auto-focus?

    • @kornasteniker3939
      @kornasteniker3939 3 года назад +3

      For sure. I fell in love with my Kamlan 50mm f1.1 Mk II since I found it on the used marked for under 100€. I like the creamy bokeh and the short minimal focus distance (for a 50mm non-macro at least) and wouldn't trade it for a slower lens with AF. Focusing is quite easy and you get used to the manual focus process very fast. ;-)

    • @25myma
      @25myma 3 года назад +1

      I dont mind manual focus, but under f2.0 it gets really hard to keep more than a nose tip or ab eyelash in focus,.. So for the price they go for now Im keeping my XC35 f2.0 glued on and for what I know, sony, canon and others all have very good, $200-ish, pretty fast AF lenses at this focal range... I'd recommend those to most people unless 7 artisans bring these under $100.

    For street photographers, everything about this lens is perfect especially if you shoot Fujifilm. I owned the Mark I of this lens and LOVED it. My ONLY complaint was that it was de-clicked when selecting an aperture and would often move without notice. If you shoot video and want this lens, get the Mark I. If you shoot street and need the aperture ring to stay where you set it, the Mark II is for you. I can't wait to get my copy.

  • @mastaw
    @mastaw 2 года назад

    About the aperture clicks: I just bought a unit and the clicks are extremely subtle. They must've changed something since this review, because it's almost as clicky as it is clickless, if that makes sense. It's suuuuuper smooth and soft to turn. It's very easy to leave the aperture ring in-between two f-stops. I even tried multiple units at the store and they are all like that.

    Good vid'. Looks like a lens you could get really unique images or footage with, play with that wide open softness and bokeh, and cheap too (how much are those one-trick pony LensBaby's...?).

    GJ Pav SZ! Nice Review. As said in an other review of this lens I ame really keen to see the differences between this 7artisans lens vs. the new Pergear branded 35mm f1.2. I am still not sure if it is a rebrand only or if these two lenses have a different optical design too.

    • @PavSZ
      @PavSZ 3 года назад

      I've never heard of this lens being hard to remove - it is Sony-E mount so the same on a7II or a7III or a7RIV.
      One thing to bare in mind is that it is APS-C lens - the image needs to be cropped by the camera to avoid seeing black vignetting around the frame

    Mark 2's images from 1.2 to 1.4 are inferior to mark 1 in terms of sharpness. However, mark 1's resistance to flare is a disaster at timed. Both version's at f2, however are sharp onwards.

      This is a APS-C mirrorless lens and was designed for cropped sensor cameras only. It wouldn't work on a full-frame DSLR camera like the Canon 5D.
      They don't make an DSLR versions of this lens as far as I know. This lens was designed to only work on mirrorless cameras. They do however make an ef-m mount.
      On Fujifilm you get a focal length of 53.55mm due to its 1.53 crop. On the Canon M camera it's would be 56mm due to its 1.6 crop.

    I am a fresher . I am using Fuji XT 30.
    I wanted to shoot a fitness video with bookeh effect . For this I am looking for a cheap lens .
    So for this which one should I buy
    7 artisans 25mm f1.8 or 35mm f1.2.
    Is there a very little difference in bookeh or is there a very high difference between them ?
    Please guide which one should I buy ?

      there will be visible difference between f1.8 and f1.2.

    Ill get one when they drop in $100 or less territory... F1.2 is great but at $140, this has little advantage over any cheap, $200, f2.0-2.8 plastic prime. ..and those have AF. This is great for creative, SMALL product photography, but closeup portraits or family pictures, F2.0 is like the minimum practical aperture anyway.

      Yes. I have a OM-D EM1 MKII and the 7artisans 35mm F1.2, and it works great!
      They have this lens available for different mounts, althoug it's designed for APS-C sensor size, which means that on Micro Four Thirds the results will be slightly different from APS-C due to cropping factor. Basically on Micro Four Thirds you will gain more sharpness (as more of the center of lens will be filling the sensor) and loose a bit of background blur (as edges will be cut off).
