lol wtf, dont bring anything new =/= meh. Master of puppets didnt bring anything new so you think thats a meh record. Train of thought didnt bring anything new so that makes it meh. K then.
I only liked Octavarium (the song) too out of that whole album. Then I started to suffer from depression and panic attacks and suddenly These Walls and Panic Attack hit me, as if I've never heard them before. I understand you might not like the album, but just put it on every 6 months or so and see if you still feel the same. People change :)
Octavarium is just style exercise. The latest DT disc with true influences and incredible remarkable compositions is SDOIT. The rest is "pure nothing and empty" well played. IMHO. ...and sorry for my bad english. ;)
Mike Portney is a great man, he helped my favorite band, Avenged Sevenfold, finish their Nightmare album after the Rev died.... He is also a amazing drummer.
MistahLightningBolt it's a good single, especially when you wanna show people who don't like metal a cool band like Dream Theater. While Octavarium is not my favorite, Pull me Under is on a good spot
My top 10 Dream theater songs as a personal list: 10. Endless Sacrifice 9. The Answer Lies Within 8. Stream of Consciousness 7. One Last Time (Scene Seven - Metropolis: Part II.) 6. Home - (Scene Six - Metropolis: Part II) 5. Panic Attack 4. The Spirit Carries On (Scene Eight - Metropolis: Part II.) 3. In the name of God 2. Octavarium 1. The Count of Tuscany
Yes, it's my favorite song by DT. But now, looking at this list, I'd probably scrap Panic Attack for Trial of Tears, and scrap One Last Time for Finally Free, and then I'd scrap Home for Ministry of Lost Souls, but the fact still remains that Count of Tuscany is still my favorite DT song.
zimbo1221 My list is literally changing all the time and its hard to put any in order. but here is my attempt. 10. The looking Glass 9.Constant motion 8.Stream of Consciences 7.The Shattered Fortress 6.Lost not Forgotten 5.Fatal Tragedy 4.The Mirror 3.The Dance of Eternity 2.Breaking all illusions 1.The count of tuscany

Pull Me Under 12. This Dying Soul 11. The Shattered Fortress 10. The Dance of Eternity 9. The Best of Times (best guitar solo ever) 8. Learning To Live 7. Finally Free 6. Home 5. The Count of Tuscany 4. Metropolis Pt. 1 - The Miracle and The Sleeper 3.Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence (disc 2, it's one song so it counts) 2. Octavarium 1. A Change of Seasons
Heh, I'll follow your lead and do a top 20 myself. 20. Anna Lee 19. Far from Heaven 18. Another Day 17. The Root of All Evil 16. Vacant 15. Home 14. Illumination Theory 13. Overture 1928 12. Endless Sacrifice 11. Octavarium 10. Stream of Consciousness 09. The Best of Times (as well.) 08. These Walls 07. A Change of Seasons. 06. In the Name of God 05. The Ministry of Lost Souls 04. Metropolis Pt. 1 - Miracle and the Sleeper. 03.Trial of Tears 02. Finally Free 01. The Count of Tuscany Even now, as this list is complete, I see a lot of songs that I like, but couldn't fit in (As I am and Sacrificed Sons) to name a few, but that is what is so awesome about DT, even though you have a top 20 there are so many others that you love all equally. That's why they're one of the greatest bands of all time imo.
My top 10- Stream Of Consciouness 9- Panic Attack 8- The Spirit Carries On 7- The Count Of Tuscany 6- Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulance 5- Home 4- Metropolis Pt 1 3- In The Name Of God 2- A Change Of Seasons Honorable Mentions: Pull Me Under, Dance Of Eternity, The Glass Prison, Honor Thy Father, Breaking All Illusions, Learning To Live, Eternal Sacrifice, These Walls 1- (And said with me) Octavarium
A surprisingly decently put together list. A Change of Seasons, Metropolis, and Octavarium being represented makes me extremely happy. However, not Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence? C'mon, that 41 minute epic is fantastic!
I don't think they put Six Degrees on there either because they may not have realised it's intended to be one huge track or possibly because most of the songs function as individual pieces out when taken out of the whole 41 minute masterpiece
I love listening to Rush but I hate listening to this band( no matter what they do or how good it is)-learning to live, pull me under, voices and silent man is all that I believe I like from their catalog.
To those saying that Dream Theater is too inconsistent, they are progressive metal. Not all of their songs are going to sound the same. They are very much a band that musicians like myself can get into, because it is never the same, they are all virtuosos on their instrument, and the mixed time signatures are awesome.
I've noticed people who don't know about Prog just kind of don't get it. Apparently it's a hard concept to grasp that an artist can have a changing sound
My personal list, 15 is the smallest I could make it. 1: A change of seasons 2: Octavarium 3: Finally free 4: The 12 step suite (I always listen to the whole thing but my fav is the shattered fortress) 5: Home 6: The count of tuscany 7: Metropolis 1 8: Pull me under 9: Ministry of lost souls 10: In the Presence of enemies 11: Dissapear 12: The spirit caries on 13: Take the time 14: On the backs of angels 15: The enemy inside
One of my favorites is Surrounded. It got me through some hard times and I think it’s just beautiful all together. Another Day, Untethered Angel, Through Her Eyes, Our New World, Fatal Tragedy, the list goes on and on. So glad I found this band. They’ve truly changed my life.
My Top 10 list or so...: 10 Under A Glass Moon (I&W) 9 The Glass Prison (6DoIT) 8 The Spirit Carries On (SFAM) 7 One Last Time (SFAM) 6 Illumination Theory (DT) 5 Root of All Evil (8varium) 4 Breaking All Illusions (ADToE) 3 A Change of Seasons (ACoS) 2 Octavarium (8varium) 1 Learning to Live (I&W) Im actually surprised Learning to Live is not mentioned. Not even in the comments...
Never thought I'd see the day dream theater got recognized (again) on a more commercial scale. I'm a huge DT fan and I feel Mojo definitely brought some justice to this list. Thank you Mojo keep surprising me with your always intriguing top 10's.
Hmmm... Just off the top of my head. 10. The Great Debate 9. Home 8. Afterlife 7. Breaking all Illusions 6. Under a Glass Moon 5. Honor Thy Father 4. A Change of Seasons 3. ...In the Presence of Enemies... 2. Space Dye Vest 1. Metropolis I: The Miracle and The Sleeper
That one of the things I love about Petrucci. The set up he has and the riffs he is able to play sometimes you can't tell if it's the keyboard or the guitar.
Let's add my personal Top-10. 10. The Glass Prison 9. As I am 8. The Ministry of Lost Souls 7. Learning to Live 6. Home 5. The Count of Tuscany 4. Six degrees of inner turbulence 3. A Change of Seasons 2. Metropolis pt.1: The Miracle and the Sleeper 1. Octavarium
I must admit, I'm a little sad that they didn't include "Honor Thy Father" in this top ten list because it is really a beautiful track full of insecurities and the drummer is singing throughout the song, regardless of the crazy time signatures and beats.
1. In the Presence of Enemies 2. Octavarium 3. Change of Seasons 4. Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence 5. Bridges in the Sky 6. The Shattered Fortress 7. In the Name of God 8. Constant Motion 9. As I Am 10. Illumination Theory It's hard to rank my favorites but if I really had to, I guess that would be it.
Greatest band in the world. Not the top 10 list I'd have put together, but considering I don't know any two Dream Theater fans who'd have the same top 10 on their lists, it's no surprise. And these are still all fantastic songs, so great list! More people really need to listen to this band.
Octavarium is far from my favourite song by Dream Theater (personally my favourite is As I Am) But Octavarium is EASILY their BEST song.... Such amazing musicianship. Aside from Queen.... Greatest fucking band ever.
Rick Scott i see what you mean there. Although I love octivarium, I understand that. Kind of like the Warning album is my favorite of green day, but American Idiot is easily their best album
Songs like on the backs of angels, Outcry, Misunderstood, The Hollow Years, Home, Space Dye Vest, This is the Life, Repentance, The Enemy Inside and the Illumination Theory also deserve recognition !
Amazing band. Arguably the most talented ever. I'd go for Octavarium, The Dance of Eternity, Metropolis pt2, Learning to Live, A Change of Seasons, Outcry, In the Presence of Enemies pt1, Erotomania, Endless Sacrifice and Trial of Tears
It's not easy to make a top 10 for a band that's being out for almost 3 decades, but you did a good job! I can't agree or disagree with the whole list, but to me their best song is A change of seasons to which I feel personally linked to since the first time I've heard it!
I personally can see why tons of people our talking about their tastes of certain Dream Theater styles. There have been many styles that Dream Theater has evolved through over like the past 20 years. Personally, I like the list, I like long songs. It's a good list, I love and own every Dream Theater album.
My list 1. Octavarium 2. A Change Of Seasons 3. Metropolis Part 1 4. Six Degrees 5. The Glass Prison 6. The Best Of Times 7. The Ministry Of Lost Souls 8. The Count Of Tuscany 9. Home 10. Outcry
***** Yeah I know what your mean. It is a good song, but definitely not their best. For me personally I would have gone with Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence, because of its creativity and subject matter.
Solid list. So many epic songs by Dream Theater. Feel that The Great Debate should've been an honourable mention. Such an underrated masterpiece of a song. The bassline alone is a thing of beauty.
1. Octavarium 2. The count of tuscany 3. In the presence of enemies 4. Illumination theory 5. The dance of eternity 6. The enemy inside 7. Metropolis part 1 8. The best of times 9. Finally free 10. Vacant - stream of consciousness
Dream Theater is pretty cool, but Liquid Tension Experiment (a side project of some members) is just guitar solo after drum solo after keyboard solo after bass solo. Would recommend it a check out at least once.
15)On the back on angels 14)Panic attack 13)Breaking all illusions 12)The glass prison 11)another day 10)Through her eyes 9)Lines in the sand 8)Six degrees 7)The count of touscany 6)Octavarium 5)Under a glass moon 4)Pull me under 3)A man besides itself 2)Scarred 1)A change of season(scenes from new york version)
I was actually surprised to see the only Dream Theater song I know actually get an honorable mention. I'm not a fan, I don't know their music, but I listened to the incredibly long "In the Presence of Enemies" because I was a big fan of the Korean comic book series (manhwa) that inspired it (and the 2011 movie which was good but didn't follow any of the original story), "Priest". But after this video, I may give the band a listen.
Mi fav. songs: 10.- Behind The Veil 9.- Wither 8.- Honor Thy Father 7.- The Great Debate 6.- Burning My Soul 5.- I Walk Beside You 4.- A Rite Of Passage 3.- Metropolis Pt.1: The Miracle And The Sleeper 2.- The Best Of Times 1.- Home Honorable Mentions: 6:00 Caught In A Web Lie Another Day Hell' Kitchen Through Her Eyes
califanoowner Pull Me Under is the only song i have ever heard by DT. :P But thats because i dont like Power Metal/Prog Rock that much. Im more inside Nu Metal and PunkRock
I got to meet dream theater back in 92 at the orbit room in Grand Rapids I told James LaBrie and the rest of the band that was him singing now they would go from Little clubs to Major arenas worldwide without the benefit of radio hits by word of mouth it made my year when I found out they perform in front of 1.5 million at one show the most underrated band ever cuz they don't write little short hits some of the most talented musicians walking the Earth thanks for the decades great songs and never repeating yourself over and over like a lot of bands
I love how they used the recording of "As I Am" from a 2005 show in Chile. Just skip to the chorus after the drum solo and you'll know what I'm talking about.
DoCWaSaBe Maybe. I wasn't a big fan of anything beyond Train of Thought, and even that album had a bit of mediocrity on it, to me. I'd say their best albums are Images and Words, Scenes from a Memory, and Awake.
I personally love Octavarium, especially the section where they give out so many references to their inspirations and past, that part always wows me. But I get what you're saying, personally I'd have put the Dance of Eternity up there c:
My Top 10 10. Endless Sacrifice 9. The Spirit Carries On 8. Hollow Years (Live at Budokan) 7. Sacrificed Sons 6. The Count of Tuscany 5. Illumination Theory 4. In the Presence of Enemies 3. Change of Seasons 2. Rite of Passage 1. Octavarium Honorable Mentions - Everything Else
Underrated dream theater songs top 5: 1. Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence 2. In the presence of enemies 3. Stream of consciousness 4. Sacrified sons 5. The shattered fortress
My list: 10. Space Dye Vest 9. Stream of Consciousness 8. Panic Attack 7. The Glass Prison 6. In The Presence Of Enemies 5. Learning To Live 4. A Mind Beside Itself 3. A Change Of Seasons 2. Octavarium 1. Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence (1&2 are pretty much interchangeable and it depends on my mood as to which I prefer)
Probably my 50th time to this thread/video! But what's different this time is my belief finally resting in this listing! I've everytime thought of like 5 songs that could have made the list but with DT, it's almost always the same.. quality is too overwhelming and too dependent on a person's (in this case I) mood.. so what's constant?? My assertion in panic attack being one of the best in whatever capacity! This list does justice to it!
10. The count of Tuscany 9. In the name of god 8. Illumination theory 7. Metropolis 6. Finally free 5.The spirit carries on 4. Learning to live 3. Six degrees of inner turbulence 2. Octavarium 1. A change of seasons ( this is simply the best song ever)
My top 10... 1. Octavarium 2. The count of Tuscany 3. The spirit carries on 4. Illumination theory 5. The shattered fortress 6. These walls 7. Metropolis pt 1 8. Breaking all illusions 9. The enemy inside 10. On the backs of angels I've been a fan if dream theater for 7 months since I downloaded my first album. I saw them live in NYC in March. Best band ever. Honestly, the guitar solo from The Best of Times is good enough to win number one in my book also.
10. 6:00 9. The dance of eternity 8. Innocence faded 7. As I am 6. Metropolis PT.1 5. Caught in a web 4. A change of seasons 3. Another day 2. Six degrees of inner turbolence 1. Octavarium
My top 10: 1. Metropolis Pt. 1 2. A Change of Seasons 3. Octavarium 4. Wait for Sleep/Learning to Live 5. In The Name of God 6. The Glass Prison 7. The Mirror/Lie 8. Stream of Consciousness 9. Under a Glass Moon 10. Blind Faith
10: Six Degrees (mainly Goodnight Kiss/Solitary Shell 9: The Shattered Fortress 8: In the Presence of Enemies pt 1+2 7: The Glass Prison 6: Sacrificed Sons 5: A Nightmare to Remember 4: The Ministry of Lost Souls 3: Octavarium 2: The Count of Tuscany (minus the lyrics) 1: A Change of Seasons
When we talk about the best of DT song, i think it must be difficult to choose what a right list you will take. But, i have my top 10 list from this band i've ever heard. This List for me, more closer into a perfect song and harmony levels behind the others. 1. The Count of Tuscany 2. This is The Life 3. Octavarium 4. On The Back Of Angels 5. Metropolish Pt. 1 6. A Rite of Passage 7. The Best of Time 8. The Dance of Eternity 9. Through Her Eyes 10. Far From Heaven
thanks for making this list (even though I don't agree with most of it). Here's my top 10: 1) Metropolis Pt. 1 2) Hell's Kitchen 3) Space-Dye Vest 4) Disappear 5) Surrounded 6) Home 7) Pull Me Under 8) Ytse Jam 9) Speak To Me 10) The Spirit Carries On Honorable Mentions: Lie, Octavarium, Breaking All Illusions
Funny how this video is shorter than some of the songs they talk about.
HAHAHAHAHA
shorter than most
Lmao that's why people love DT
Accurate
shorter than the glass prison by about 23 seconds for example
Octavarium is 35 years of history of prog rock all in one song.
lol wtf,
dont bring anything new =/= meh.
Master of puppets didnt bring anything new so you think thats a meh record.
Train of thought didnt bring anything new so that makes it meh.
K then.
I only liked Octavarium (the song) too out of that whole album. I understand you might not like the album, but just put it on every 6 months or so and see if you still feel the same. People change :)
Octavarium is just style exercise. The latest DT disc with true influences and incredible remarkable compositions is SDOIT. The rest is "pure nothing and empty" well played.
IMHO.
...and sorry for my bad english. ;)
Come one guys, both Dream theater and Metallica are the best in their sub genre. Let's enjoy both of these bands' music.
Deepen Wadhwa I agree!
Mike Portney is a great man, he helped my favorite band, Avenged Sevenfold, finish their Nightmare album after the Rev died.... He is also a amazing drummer.
*Portnoy*
Am i the only one happy that Pull Me Under is not No.1?
Jakub YES. (also, nice profile pic)
They do say it's based on overall popularity and also popularity among hardcore fans. So putting it halfway is probably right where it should be.
My Top 5:
5. Pull Me Under
4. Ilumination Theory
3. Panic Atack
2. Octavarium
1. The Dance Of Eternity
MistahLightningBolt (Triggered Sound Effect) I love that song though
MistahLightningBolt it's a good single, especially when you wanna show people who don't like metal a cool band like Dream Theater. While Octavarium is not my favorite, Pull me Under is on a good spot
10. Every Song on Scenes From a Memory
9. Every Song on Scenes From a Memory
8. Every Song on Scenes From a Memory
7. You get the point...
1. Metropolis part 1
;)
JustusBProductions You mean "their most overrated album ever"?
Fabio Riato most overrated? Easily their best album to date. Not a single weak song. And the story and writing are their best work.
+Lane Adler You can say that about several of their albums if we're going by 'not a single weak song'.
Adam Destructor Jr. "and the story and writing is their best work".
My favourite will always be "Learning to live"
Amazing song. Memorable too.
James LaBrie's F#. Such an exhilarating feeling, hearing it live.
Absolutely!!
We share opinions dude
Such a good fucking song. It carries such an amazing atmosphere.

3. In the name of God
2. Octavarium
1. The Count of Tuscany
+zimbo1221 Finally someone who agrees with me on count of tuscany.
10. The looking Glass
9.Constant motion
8.Stream of Consciences

2. Octavarium
1. A Change of Seasons
Heh, I'll follow your lead and do a top 20 myself.
20. Anna Lee
19. Far from Heaven
18. Another Day
17. The Root of All Evil
16. Vacant
15. Home
14. Illumination Theory

04. Metropolis Pt. 1 - Miracle and the Sleeper.
03.Trial of Tears
02. Finally Free
01. The Count of Tuscany
Even now, as this list is complete, I see a lot of songs that I like, but couldn't fit in (As I am and Sacrificed Sons) to name a few, but that is what is so awesome about DT, even though you have a top 20 there are so many others that you love all equally. That's why they're one of the greatest bands of all time imo.
Stream of Consciousness not even Honorable mention?
I know right! I think Stream of Consciousness should replace Dance for Eternity in this list.
Misunderstood and Take The Time and Caught in a web too
That's DT's problem. They have too many good songs.
Dream Theater could have a legit Top 100 songs if they wanted at this point after all their studio albums.
@@louismartin4106 Excellent choices!!!
My top
10- Stream Of Consciouness
9- Panic Attack
8- The Spirit Carries On
7- The Count Of Tuscany
6- Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulance
5- Home
4- Metropolis Pt 1
3- In The Name Of God
2- A Change Of Seasons
Honorable Mentions: Pull Me Under, Dance Of Eternity, The Glass Prison, Honor Thy Father, Breaking All Illusions, Learning To Live, Eternal Sacrifice, These Walls
1- (And said with me) Octavarium
Very similar to my own favorites!
Where is best of times
Finally someone with common sense. My top 3 are Panic Attack, Glass Prison and A Change of Seasons
I wanna get into dream theater. Which album should I start with?
Edit: This comment is super old! I've already listened to every DT album!
TheNerdyGinger Metropolis pt II: Scenes From a Memory
TheNerdyGinger Octavarium for sure. Got me hooked so easy.
TheNerdyGinger Octavarium got me into the best band in the world, but I think Awake or Scenes from a Memory should be the starter.
Good point. Self-titled is pretty good. Train of Thought is perfect if you were into metal before listening to DT
Smittywerbenjager Manjensen I like heavy :D
A surprisingly decently put together list. A Change of Seasons, Metropolis, and Octavarium being represented makes me extremely happy. However, not Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence? C'mon, that 41 minute epic is fantastic!
Glass Prison was on there?
I know, right?! At least The Overture would of been nice.
Mmm yeah,
I don't think they put Six Degrees on there either because they may not have realised it's intended to be one huge track or possibly because most of the songs function as individual pieces out when taken out of the whole 41 minute masterpiece
Six degrees of inner turbulance is a fantastic album, but it's so hard to separate each song. And Scenes from a memory is a tough one too.
I'd rather listen to Five Finger Death Punch than Dream Theater.
-said no one ever.
Kenneth Woodard unfortunately I think a lot of people would say that. too many people, especially in the US, listen to utter crap
K W I would honestly.
I love listening to Rush but I hate listening to this band( no matter what they do or how good it is)-learning to live, pull me under, voices and silent man is all that I believe I like from their catalog.
To be honest I just listen to more 5FDP than DT
Come on man
To those saying that Dream Theater is too inconsistent, they are progressive metal. Not all of their songs are going to sound the same. 1: A change of seasons

4: The 12 step suite
(I always listen to the whole thing but my fav is the shattered fortress)

10: In the Presence of enemies
11: Dissapear
12: The spirit caries on
13: Take the time
14: On the backs of angels
15: The enemy inside
"A nightmare to remember" should be on the list, that track is amazing
The Ministry of Lost Souls.
Lol. This list had some odd choices. More than half the songs they chose I would not have put on my list.
Agreed. Absolute masterpiece
One of my favorites is Surrounded. It got me through some hard times and I think it’s just beautiful all together. Another Day, Untethered Angel, Through Her Eyes, Our New World, Fatal Tragedy, the list goes on and on. So glad I found this band. They’ve truly changed my life.

Under a Glass Moon = awesomesauce!!

Man you forgot, BEST OF TIMES, it's the best song and even more chillls
Take the Time is a great one. Wish it'd make the list

5. Honor Thy Father
4. A Change of Seasons

1. Metropolis I: The Miracle and The Sleeper
Space dye vest has quickly become one of my favorite DT tracks.
At 4:48, she says that the solo is done by Jordan Rudess. It is actually John Petrucci's solo.
That one of the things I love about Petrucci. The set up he has and the riffs he is able to play sometimes you can't tell if it's the keyboard or the guitar.
That annoyed me more than it should have lol
Yes! Her comment had me confused. Always thought is was guitar. That section is absolute bliss.
1)A change of seasons
2)Almost every DT song

***** yes, all the time =D Portnoy is amazing... don't know if Mangini does the same, though...
bridges in the sky, breaking all illusions and the glass prison are my top favs
my number one song from them for me is in the name of god. song is too badass and the first song I heard from them.
That album (Train of Thought) with that song is, to me, the best of DT :)
my favorite DT song ever... second favorite after that is Home
Yup, I agree. The guitar and keyboard duo solo is stunning.
Train of thought is now my favourite album by DT but it took me ages to really get into it
in the name of God, totally, and, where's "The best of times"?
Thank you for doing this band! Many more people need to hear their astounding excellency in music writing and playing!
It is sad that Image and Words is the only Dream Theater album I have. I really need to get more.
A7XRobRacoonA7X I have Train of Thought, and it's a fucking blast.
I agree!
Pick up Train of Thought, Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence, and Octavarium. Those are 3 of my favorites at least, and I think you'll love them.
don't get anything from after Octavarium..
Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From a Memory is their best album and I highly recommend you picking that one up.
1. In the Presence of Enemies
2. Octavarium
3. Change of Seasons
4. Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence
5. Bridges in the Sky
6. The Shattered Fortress
7. In the Name of God
8. Constant Motion
9. As I Am
10. Illumination Theory
It's hard to rank my favorites but if I really had to, I guess that would be it.
The count of Tuscany is the absolute masterpiece!
Greatest band in the world. Not the top 10 list I'd have put together, but considering I don't know any two Dream Theater fans who'd have the same top 10 on their lists, it's no surprise. And these are still all fantastic songs, so great list! More people really need to listen to this band.
My math teacher: can you understand this equation?
Me: shows dance of eternity
My math teacher : faints
Count that tempo biaaaaatch lmao ded 💀
top 10 Nightwish songs
Yes please :)
Oh my gosh, yes!
Octavarium is far from my favourite song by Dream Theater (personally my favourite is As I Am)
But Octavarium is EASILY their BEST song.... Such amazing musicianship.
Aside from Queen.... Greatest fucking band ever.
Please read your comment.
Rick Scott queen is so fucking ovverated its insane

The Count Of Tuscany is a freaking masterpiece! So epic!! My favorite DT song!
Dream Theater, one of the most diverse and awesome bands ever
YES! DREAM THEATER GETS SOME RECOGNITION
Finally Free?
Best Watch Mojo video ever. No complaints. You could pretty much pick any 10 DT songs and have a great list.
Octavarium is my favourite song from them. So happy it's at #1.
This is why I'm subscribed to this channel. You give attention to lesser appreciated things without being a hipster, and while still being objective.
My list
1. Octavarium
2. A Change Of Seasons
3. Metropolis Part 1
4. Six Degrees
5. The Glass Prison
6. The Best Of Times
7. The Ministry Of Lost Souls
8. The Count Of Tuscany
9. Home
10. Outcry
Definitely better than their Top 10 Rush Songs list.
Definitely. I'm glad they didn't do the same thing here and put pull me under as number one.
***** Yeah I know what your mean. It is a good song, but definitely not their best. For me personally I would have gone with Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence, because of its creativity and subject matter.
Nathaniel Hellman YES, Six Degrees was incredible. I was a bit shocked that wasn't on this list
nightmareX1993 The problem with that is that it is over 40 minutes long so most people won't listen to it.
I def expected Pull Me Under as no.1 since it's their only hit. Seein' it at no. 5 made it more awesome. Still love the song though.
Solid list. So many epic songs by Dream Theater. Feel that The Great Debate should've been an honourable mention. Such an underrated masterpiece of a song. The bassline alone is a thing of beauty.
1. Octavarium
2. The count of tuscany
3. In the presence of enemies
4. Illumination theory
5. The dance of eternity
6. The enemy inside
7. Metropolis part 1
8. The best of times
9. Finally free
10. Vacant - stream of consciousness
i love Dream Theater too bad they are very Underrated!
you earn my respect with the decision of octavarium at number one, its pure quality and a hell of song
Octavarium hooked me onto this band then looked and listened into this list until I realized "In the Presence of Enemies" is my favorite DT song. 🤘
hold it now, wait a minute. Come on! Wheres take the time? lol
Take the Time and Learning to Live are two of my favourite DT tracks, along with A Change of Seasons. A ton of their early work is just amazing.
Le epic Haken pfp
And where the BEST OF TIMES😶😶😶
How on Earth was "The Enemy Inside" not included! It's the best track they have EVER done!
🤘🏻
Dream Theater is pretty cool, but Liquid Tension Experiment (a side project of some members) is just guitar solo after drum solo after keyboard solo after bass solo. Would recommend it a check out at least once.

No Six degrees of inner turbulence?! It's a masterpiece, the ending gives me goosebumps every time
5- Build me up break me down 4- Bridges in the sky 3- New millenium 2- Breaking all illusions 1- Peruvian skies
Their best song really cannot be anything but Octavarium. Its a true masterpiece.
AH DREAM THEATER!!! WHAT. A. BAND.
Mi fav. songs:
10.- Behind The Veil
9.- Wither
8.- Honor Thy Father
7.- The Great Debate
6.- Burning My Soul
5.- I Walk Beside You

Top 10 Tool and Top 10 Opeth for us Proggies. Thanks!
I think they have a Tool video I'm not sure though. But there is no Opeth list.
Notarealchannelname Yeah, I failed to do a search before I commented. They had a decent Tool list, now waiting for Opeth :)
+Andrea Hill they have no death metal, dunno why
Opeth is Prog? 🤔🤔
@@The_Archvile yeah
Anyone else notice James wearing an avenged sevenfold shirt? Awesome!
Sam Paul it’s funny how a few years later. A7X took their drummer 😂
YOU DEFFINETLY NEED A TOP 10 BEST PROGRESSIVE BANDS!! BEEN WAITING FOR THAT ONE FOR A WHILE
So many songs they could have included! DT could honestly have a top 50 songs list. I think they did as good a job with this as they could.
Learning to Live is probably my favorite.
Im hoping for that Pull Me Under is #1 before i watch this :)
Nope. Octavarium!
califanoowner Pull Me Under is the only song i have ever heard by DT. :P But thats because i dont like Power Metal/Prog Rock that much. Im more inside Nu Metal and PunkRock
I was hoping for them to even mention the entire 40 minutes of Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence :/
NarvieIsADrumma LOL thats a good song too. I was hoping "Another Day" would be somewhere in here.
I was hoping that Under A Glass Moon, Learning To Live or Take the Time would make it...
great list as usual, I would include "this Dying soul" from "Train of thoughts" in the top 5
Very clever, taking the studio audio in octavarium and dubbing it over 20th anniversary octavarium video footage.
Really? Octavarium at #1. Not a fan of a lot of these choices.
Fan fav for me, got me into DT. Not the best sounding but the best intro to them
DoCWaSaBe Maybe.
Where was Take the time??? (Long version)
Ya... I don't think a single song from the falling into infinity album got mentioned.

2. Octavarium
1. Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence
(1&2 are pretty much interchangeable and it depends on my mood as to which I prefer)
