If you can afford it do it sooner rather than later. And replace the shanks and rollers with the Abel ones, too. Yamaha action parts are generally not so great, and especially with their hammers you're leaving a large portion of your piano's potential sound on the table. Of course goes with out saying make sure it's done by someone who is really good. Ask to inspect previous work. It needs to all look nice, tidy and precise and sound good, otherwise move on and keep looking for a properly skilled person.
Can confirm 100%. Have the Abel Naturals (I think that's their Europe name for the Encore) on a 1969/70 G2. Weren't particularly bad to start with, just nowhere near the range they have now...Are you finding that the bigger bass hammers are taking longer to come into their own?
Yes, I can hear it... and no sure prefer the ABEL!. Of course, YAMAHA ones give the typical YAMAHA sound, more metallic. But the ABEL are IMO a bit too much on the soft side. Perhaps they need some time to set in. All in all, beautiful piano and playing!
Every section event juiced up very high then voiced to a congruent master piece of Evenness you truley made it sound just right for any type of music. music!! (I take of my hat to you mysterious !!!). There are few technicians that can accomplish this feat
I can't thank you enough! This video is surely what I wanted. I'll install Abel's hammers in my Yamaha C3X (2014) in 10 years.
Good luck with the install. I’m sure it will work out great!
