This scene just tore my guts out. It was so unexpected and brutal; cold and unconscionable. You don't kill a man's trusty steed and walk away unscathed. The scene with the mighty black stallion ramming the antagonist's horse was some of the most gratifying payback in film history. But, oh, how I ached for Jim saying farewell and knowing that his horse was left for scavengers was such an undignified ending.
I don't think I can watch this scene again - my heart couldn't take it. I LOVED that horse.
