Tuco and Blondie worked together to keep turning Tuco in for the reward so they could split it. Blonde turned on him and that's why Tuco wanted revenge.

"You see, in this world there's two kinds of people, my friend: Those with loaded guns and those who dig. You dig."
The best western of all time, hands down. That bridge scene sometimes gives me nightmares. I dream that men are still fighting over the bridge, completely unaware or despite that the Civil War is long been over. I understand it is a weird for someone like me to fixate on, but the Civil War is a hobby interest of mine and such a meaningless battle is horrifying to me.
Fun Fact: Clint Eastwood wore the same poncho through all three "Man With No Name" movies without replacement or cleaning.
Skeleton Key Fact: The skeleton found by Tuco (Eli Wallach) inside the wrong coffin at Sad Hill cemetery was a real human skeleton. A deceased Spanish actress wrote in her will she wanted to act even after her death.
Prequel Fact: This is a "prequel" to A Fistful Of Dollars (1964) and For A Few Dollars More (1967), as it is set during the American Civil War while the other two movies are set afterward. Towards the end of this movie, Blondie (Clint Eastwood) acquires his trademark poncho. It works when you take all three movies as a whole.
Historical Fact: Though no specific year or date is stated in this movie, at least part of it takes place during the New Mexico Campaign of 1862. This is confirmed when the hotelkeeper and Tuco mention the retreating Confederate General Sibley (real-life Henry H. Sibley) and the advancing Union Colonel Canby (another historical person, Colonel Edward Canby). This is consistent with the campaign that took place between February and April 1862 in the Union territory of New Mexico and the Confederate state of Texas.

Interesting trivia: When "Ugly" is at the gun shop, the actor had no clue how guns actually worked, or what to do. The director told him to just go with it and improvise. So he did.
And it seems a plausible series of tests. Back in those days, guns were made by hand, and the complex manufacturing tools used in factories came about in the mid-1850s. But still, nothing like we have today. Gunsmiths were still used in the factories and for anything more hand-made. So it was important to see if the gun worked well enough for the owner's needs. And to see how much their aim had to compensate for slight errors in manufacturing.
Tuco made Blondie walk though the desert because Blondie had made Tuco walk through the desert.
The Union soldiers (blue uniforms) arrested Blondie and Tuco and put them in a POW camp because Blondie and Tuco had thought they were Confederate soldiers (gray uniforms) and were yelling "Hooray for General Lee" and stuff like that.
You have to remember when the movie is set. It's set during the American civil war and back in those days $500 was alot of money.
Tuco was worth $2000, which was 4 or 5 times more than what some people were making in a whole year.
A quick Google search and here are some figures.
Laborers made about $300 per year.
Privates in the Union army earned $572 per year.
Firemen earned $468 per year.
Carpenters earned $436 per year.
P.S. How are you so ignorant. What movie are you watching. Tuco and Blondie were working together. He kept bringing him into the law in a different town each time to collect the reward money.
Welcome to the Spaghetti Westerns of the 1960's...love these movies!
1966. The TV show was Rawhide. It's the Civil War and Blondie and Tuco pretended to be Confederate and got caught by Union Soldiers.
Best. Soundtrack. Ever.
Such a classic! I remember watching it with my dad in the 70s and have watched it many times since!! Great reaction!!
The bad was played by Lee Van Cleef: Escape from New York. FOR A Few Dollars More.
It was a prisoner of war camp. The North, in the blue, captured Tuco and Blondie because they were wearing the Southern gray uniform..
My personal top 5 Westerns
1. The Good, The Bad & The Ugly (part of the dollars trilogy or man with no name trilogy I'm sure people are now recommending you watch)
2. Unforgiven (Directed by Clint Eastwood & winner of Best picture & Director in 92)
3. Once upon a time in the West (same Director of this movie)
4. The magnificent 7 (bad guy is the same guy who plays Tuco in this)
5. Young Guns movie (most people wouldn't have in greatest Western lis but I grew up with those 2 movies)
Tuco WAS played by the late ELI WALLACHE. HE ALSO PLAYED IN THE GODFATHER 3; TOUGH GUYS; MAGNIFICENT 7

You calling tuco “2,4” is funny asf😭💀
It is definitely not a big detail, but fun fact...Clint Eastwood never uses a shotgun in this movie, only a rifle and a pistol. 16:14 💯😉

You're watching a western movie shot briliantly and released in 1966 and dealing with 19 th century events with the 2023 standards and codes. Of course you won't "get it".
Obviously not watching it.. just seeing it.
How hard is it to pronounce TUCO? Not Tofu, not Tocu, not Tutu, it's TUCO!!!!
The string of obtuse comments is unreal...
Holy Cow do you not know about the civil war? TUCO TUCO TUCO TUCO TUCO TUCO TUCO TUCO TUCO........2-CO 2-CO...For your audiences sake you gotta learn how to edit.
