▶️ In this video I will discuss the following topics about EWM-PLC integration:
    • How does EWM integrate its MFS objects and the PLC
    • How the MFS component integrate with the subsystem/PLC layer
    • The actual subsystem of the PLC level
    • The communication between Warehouse Management & Material Flow Control
PLCs, also known as programmable logic controllers, are crucial to logistical systems. For a variety of warehouse processes, including auto-weighing, auto-packing, auto-labeling, and auto-dispatch, WMS can smoothly interface with the PLC.
A warehouse may need to be automated for a variety of reasons, including the necessity for minimal space requirements, high throughput, lengthy internal transport routes, significant consolidation effort, and the requirement for ergonomic and secure working conditions.
The SAP EWM MFS (Material Flow System) allows for the direct integration and real-time control of conveyor and warehouse equipment. EWM MFS is a fully integrated material flow system. As a result, since SAP MFS connects directly with inferior programmable logic controllers, the usage of extra material flow control systems and other communication middleware is no longer necessary.
Additionally, MFS can be seen as an element of EWM as it has objects of its own that must interact with the basic elements of EWM. Communication points, Queues, PLCs, Communication Channels and Resources are the most crucial items that EWM employs to integrate its MFS component and to interact with the PLC.
A direct connection between automated warehouse and conveyor technologies at the PLC level is possible with SAP EWM's integrated MFS. The primary use is the management of material flows for automated storage systems, including high-bay warehouses and automated small parts systems.
