Oh great! Was just asking for this days ago and now you guys actually did it! This is going to be great breakfast entertainment! :D (and help in deciding whether to buy one or not, of course :P )
Note: Class A generally references the way the amplifier circuitry works not the quality of the components. Though the name probably derived from the fact that class A offers less crossover distortion. Google amplifier classes it's really quite interesting...honest
Really would like to see the two of you do something similar to this with the Kemper. And include the profiles you created for that awesome Save Chappers video.
Have you guys ever considered doing a demo of the Quilter amps? It's also a super cool solid state amp line. Seems like they are totally going under the radar right now.
You guys forgot all the different types of pre and power amps that you can choose from. If you click on the 'downward pointing arrow' where it says pre or power amp you can choose higher gain stages. :)
OK... all good. But call me 'newb', but how have you actually connected your guitar to the iPad? Is it cabled into the Head, and then the changes you make on the iPad bluetoothed to the head, or what? or have you wired your guitar to iPad via some kind of 1/4" -> 3.5mm adaptor?
Musical instruments and amplifiers hold their value, like pretty much nothing else. Even a budget guitar or amp is worth something years and years after being sold new. And they're probably still something you can pick up and use. Software and software controlled technology have a short lifespan. Stuff like this iPad controlled amp seem like nothing more than planned obsolescence. Think about where your Windows 95 PC is right now:-)
Same thing with Line6 Modelling Amps. Their highest priced Amp from 15years ago are worth nothing today. And this might also happen to their Helix in few years or after 2 new Versions of it. Problems u will not have with a good tube amp. Anyways guys, sell all your good tubeamps and buy the modelling stuff =P
Resale value isn't the biggest problem, it's paying nearly 2 grand for something that in a year's time will be an expensive paper weight. The second they change the bus (USB) for connectivity, you're out of luck with updates. Apple makes a new iPad every year and updates their OS every week, breaking functionality in every other app, until the other software makes catch up and fix those bugs. The point I'm making is that this is BUSINESS model. This isn't as much of a product as it is a business model, designed to get you to keep paying for upgrades. Software has a shelf life. That shelf life makes sense for a repeatable sales model. There's no money in upgrades for a solid state amp or tube amp to be realized by manufacturers, unless they introduce software into the mix. This entire thing seems like a shedload of money into the toilet, given that in 2 years time, it will be completely obsolete. 2 grand will get you a hell of a tube amp and some pedals to last well into your old age. Money well spent.
No, 15 years from now you'll have changed the tubes twice and pray that is all the maintenance you've had to put into the amp. If you're trying to sell us on reliability then it's solid state over all the others hands down all day long. I've had a few tube amps. I liked them. They were good amps. They weren't all that though. I've had a couple of modeling amps and never had an issue to this day with one. My cube sounds as good as the day I got it. I've had to many solid states to count and have been loving my Princeton Chorus for it's clean tones for almost 2 full decades now. My Peavey Bravo...... I like the tone but I play it the least because I've spent the most on that thing over the years due to maintenance and upgrades.
I thought they'd be more impressed considering how good it sounded (and I've heard Bias sound on other demos). I guess with all the high quality stuff that has hit the market over the past couple of years (Amplifire, Helix, AX8 and Kemper) the wow factor has diminished.
I'm not hating on Kemper. The depth that goes into the Kemper's profiles is incredible, but the Bias Head is a much better bargain depending on your country. In the UK there is only a £500 difference between the two products, but in the United States there is almost a $1500 difference between the two products. You do not need a powerful computer to run the Bias Amp software on your computer and, while I don't recommend buying an iPad or iPhone just for the Bias Head, the iOS app is only $5. I don't know why I'm even writing this comment besides the fact that I'm sick of the Bias Head vs. Kemper debate. The Kemper is so in-depth and accurate, but it also lacks a simple user interface. Bias Head has a simple user interface, but does lack the depth and attention to detail that the Kemper has.
we need more people like you...and less people who debate all day about two different product they cant afford 🤣 anyway....i think both of amps are cool cuz multiple different amps in one is just awesome eh?
im sure I'm not the first to mention. But I'm curious. How can you have a discussion on modeling software/hardware sans including the AxFxII. I realize that Fractal sells direct. But, ignoring the name altogether detracts from your cred..
With regards to the pricing (disclaimer: Kemper owner).. I think this head should be around £400-500 and competing in the Atomic Amplifire space. Then they should also sell a 3U rack version, with a screen, that doesn't need an iPad to program it for around the current price of this unit - they are coming out with a rack, but it's just the same thing in a different form factor I think. You can see why the Helix is the price it is (although I think it needs to be £100-200 cheaper to get further away from Kemper/AXE territory).. with the hardware having all the little patch screens and what not.. but this..? Not so much.
I know this doesn't apply directly to the head, but I purchased Bias desktop a year ago and haven't been able to get it to work once. I downloaded the standalone version they came out with and that doesn't work either. They have no tech support available other than email correspondence. Nothing they have emailed me has worked. I have Jamup Pro on my iPhone and that works great. I will never give Positive Grid another penny though since they don't support their products properly.
They wouldn't give me a refund when I had a problem with Bias a while back. It stopped working when my computer updated to Windows 10. They drug me along with emails back and forth for two months, insisting they would fix the problem and there was no need for a refund. I patiently worked with them, answering all their questions and trying all their suggestions, but they never got it fixed during that span of time. Instead they switched my license to a product I didn't want (I had Bias Amp stop working, but they switched me to Bias FX because it was working with Windows 10 at the time.) I told them I didn't want Bias FX but they switched it anyway and told me to use it while they fixed the problem. I reminded them about a refund, and that was basically it, never got a response again. Any attempts to contact them after that have been met with no reply, and that was months ago. So yeah. It probably does work with Windows 10 by now, but since they've blacklisted me or something, I guess I'm S.O.L. I liked Bias Amp, there were lots of amps and lots of things to tweak, but now I'm stuck with this shitty standard version of Bias FX with like two amps and a bunch of effects I don't use. I'm done dealing with Positive Grid too.
I don't know where you live, but if they couldn't solve the problem, and have stopped replying to your emails, email them again and say you're going to take them to consumer affairs if they don't offer a refund. You've got rights as a consumer and usually if a company gets a call from them regarding an investigation they get a bill. I'd expect you'll get a pretty quick response if you reference your local ombudsman.
James Cole Interesting. I'll look into it. I hope it's not too late as it was months ago that this all occurred. I had just written them off as a company I'd never deal with again, but this sounds better.
Would like to see Pete go for it with his playing on one of these vids, rather than hold back for the sake of the demonstration. You only get glimpses of the quality he is capable of. Perhaps a nice Jazz standard, followed by a blues classic.
Pete: ...we must remember that 600 watts is a different wattage from tube. Bea: We don't want to kill ourselves! Pete: Well... Here if you need to talk, Pete xxxx
So its an app that runs on an iPad or through the head when saved, so I'm guessing the head has a similar dsp / processor to the iPad + a 600w amp? Wow, that's a great sounding app but never worth ~£1200 for that head. Must be incredibly well coded, kudos that that.
I agree, just feels like this one cheapened itself by running on a tablet, I wonder what the Kemper processor is? I know that makes no sense though, if it sounds good and runs on string and tin cans then fair enough. 😀
so everyone is issued an apple iPad with the amp right? I think I will stick to things that inspire me to play... not want to chuck an iPad like a Frisbee. If it's too complicated then you spend all your spare time messing about with computers and such. I like to play guitar... not mess with a computer!
Ouch, this BIAS HEAD is a big joke...?! -no screen -no effects -app Ipad/mac dependent (in 2/3 years, no more update, for sure...) So it's more expensive than a Fractal AX8 or Kemper wich have proven famous artist could relie on them... If they can sell 10 of this joke, they will be lucky!
Stainless Steel agreed. This is horrendous. How much you think bias have paid the hundreds of artists I see on RUclips endorsing the amp sims? And this is as clearly stated by Bea the exact same tone as the sim except coming out of the amp. $100 tone for close to $2,000 to be amplified. What a joke.
So you cant use any of the effects from jam up? Seems like a waste to me if you still have to use your own pedals. i think i would be better off running the iphone/ipad into the effects return of my tube amp and getting one of those Bluetooth pedalboards and saving my self a shitload of money, or just get a helix/ax8 for a little bit more. Hell you could even get a torpedo C.A.B and a active monitor and still be better off running the app through that.
One thing all this toys have in common is that the presets are inferior to the IR custom profiles. Kemper's presets are "nice", but there are some IRs out for it that are freaking awesome, 10 times better than the presets The question is "can I create impulse responses with it like with the normal Bias?" If the answer is yes, you can virtually have any sound with both of those.
I think these guys need to work harder to pronounce their consonants louder. "Think" still sounds like thing. Those Ks, Ts and Ps are just not cutting through the mix.
No wonder guitar players are impoverished!! We've bought guitars (come on, more than 1), a valve amp, and we've got an iPad. Then we spend £15 or so on BIAS AMP. So, why spend nearly £1200 on the Head? It don't make any sense! Why do I need it?
Guitars and gear with Pete and Rabea... Now that's a name :D
I could listen to Pete play forever. What a monster player!
best duo on the andertons channel these guys should form a band, a clash of two worlds resulting in a bing bang of tone goodness
yeah he's in toska as well, doesn't mean he can't hive side projets :)
But yeah, the world needs more than one Bea for sure
i want to lick his mind. no homo.
A Quest For Tone I agree best opposite style pairing. And bea seems to make Pete actually work a little to keep up. Which is saying something.
Pete and Bea, Pete and Mick joint best combinations...
Im learning all of Petes licks and improving my playing so much. You are an inspiration Pete!
You guys should do a affordable modeling amp shootout. Including ID core, valvelectronix and Marshall code
That's would be awesome
line 6 spider
The new one
Also in the works...
Boss Katana!, Peavey Vypyr VIP!
Petes playing still amazes me. Holy shit.
Sounds impressive for high gain through headphones, great recording tool.
Wow, a music video game. I just have to tell my 27 year old son who still play's video games! He's gonna enjoy building those killer amps. Rock on!
Pete seems to be relaxing into his role really well now, less repetition and more cool
Oh great! Was just asking for this days ago and now you guys actually did it! This is going to be great breakfast entertainment! :D
(and help in deciding whether to buy one or not, of course :P )
Note: Class A generally references the way the amplifier circuitry works not the quality of the components. Though the name probably derived from the fact that class A offers less crossover distortion.
Google amplifier classes it's really quite interesting...honest
Fellas the link seems to go to a Fender bass... which is lovely but not if you want info about the amp ;oD
Think link points to wrong item on Andertons website (Fender American Standard Jazz Bass in 3-Tone Sunburst, Maple)
Really would like to see the two of you do something similar to this with the Kemper. And include the profiles you created for that awesome Save Chappers video.
it wouldn't beat a kemper in the terms of modelling I guess
Have you guys ever considered doing a demo of the Quilter amps? It's also a super cool solid state amp line. Seems like they are totally going under the radar right now.
Love starting my day with a nice danish....
10:37 Hey, that's the master's apprentice!
You guys forgot all the different types of pre and power amps that you can choose from. If you click on the 'downward pointing arrow' where it says pre or power amp you can choose higher gain stages. :)
That Fender sound was scary good.
How would you even classify what Pete played in the intro?....that was fuckin awesome man.
Almost slightly jazz
Time stops for you two... it's eternally 4:00. Amazing!
Talk about option paralysis lol and I use an Eleven rack ! Gotta love it tho ill be buying this app this weekend!
Hey rabea what was the first thing that Pete played and do you have tabs? Or is it just improvised?
God, pete is so damn good
So Pete, Rabea... Does it sound like a tube amp or not? Worth the money? How it sound emulating wise compare to the Kemper or Axe
OK... all good. But call me 'newb', but how have you actually connected your guitar to the iPad? Is it cabled into the Head, and then the changes you make on the iPad bluetoothed to the head, or what? or have you wired your guitar to iPad via some kind of 1/4" -> 3.5mm adaptor?
You should try S gear rabea and Pete. It's the best software sim right now. Free demo. Check out slate review. Excellent stuff!

And they're probably still something you can pick up and use. Software and software controlled technology have a short lifespan. Stuff like this iPad controlled amp seem like nothing more than planned obsolescence. Think about where your Windows 95 PC is right now:-)
There is a risk theyll drop it, but they should update. The software for PC is definitely worth it.
Same thing with Line6 Modelling Amps. Their highest priced Amp from 15years ago are worth nothing today. And this might also happen to their Helix in few years or after 2 new Versions of it. Problems u will not have with a good tube amp.

I honestly don't give a single damn about resell value.
I care about performance and if it will still perform in a few years.

Just like BIAS Amp the plugin, I really want to like it... but the high gain sounds just sound super thin and weak to me :(
what mic are you using to record the cab here guys ?
Any chance of doing a demo of Stone Deaf FX's heads in the future? Those things seem very interesting. :)
The app and headphones has saved me a lot of apologies and may have saves a relationship or 2.Love all of Positive Grids apps.
What model is this strat? Soudns incredible!
I thought they'd be more impressed considering how good it sounded (and I've heard Bias sound on other demos). I guess with all the high quality stuff that has hit the market over the past couple of years (Amplifire, Helix, AX8 and Kemper) the wow factor has diminished.
Can you use it without an ipad - ie editing on pc or something?
1:03 Rabea’s like, “ya, thash niiiishe”
Aren't the left/right channels swapped in this video? Bea's talking on the left and Danpete is talking on the right side.
How low can the volume go to make it more usable. Not everybody wants an amp that can blast the plants out of ground.

damn Bea, your beard game is fucking on point! I personally dont have the patience for it myself. Maybe theres something to this vegan lifestyle... :)
Not to mention the weight loss! He's Looking sharp.
Michael Allen what? Beas a vegan??
Yep, him and Chappers.
cheeky bit of opeth thrown in here
help a fellow out, what song was that from again?
Master's Apprentices :D
Oh yeah! Man, haven't listened to them in too long a time.
Anway, thanks!
Be great if they did a "sounds like" for Opeth... if only to see Rabea smashing through some classic riffs :)
I like it sounds so good. I wish it had efx.
Is that some kind of Metal Zone Amp Head?
is a bias head with a 1x12 cab loud enough for gigging?
Plenty
They didn't upload them to the tone cloud. =/
I know this doesn't apply directly to the head, but I purchased Bias desktop a year ago and haven't been able to get it to work once. Bea how did you like that Custom 24? Is it worth the money?
Michael Limberger PRS are always worth the money
Michael Limberger also. Not a custom 24
Would like to see Pete go for it with his playing on one of these vids, rather than hold back for the sake of the demonstration. You only get glimpses of the quality he is capable of. Perhaps a nice Jazz standard, followed by a blues classic.
Random question, what part of England is Pete from? His accent doesn't sound British, sounds like a blend of Irish and Liverpool.
He's Danish.
Anthony .Varone i think it's danish
Interesting, thanks fellas.
His input volume is really low by the looks of it. Probably why he's not getting the gain he wants from things like the 5150/Soldano sim...
Bias vs. Kemper.
kemper would beat that thing in a minute easily
reason everything in higain with bias sounds like a fuzz and very harsh
+HeilTheKoala in the works.
Andertons Music Co Can't wait to see how it turns out.
Throw in the Helix too.
Don't forget Axe
Pete: ...we must remember that 600 watts is a different wattage from tube.
Bea: We don't want to kill ourselves!
Pete: Well...
Here if you need to talk, Pete xxxx
+Andrew Smith Music Things We have tried to talk to Pete, doesn't work! ;)
The software is excellent but the head is far too expensive for what it is
Pete Loeffler of Chevelle, Mike McCready of Pearl Jam, Johnny Stevens of Highly Suspect!!!!
You guys should do a comparison video with a real amp much like the video on robs channel of kemper to see how close they sound
Too bad Andertons are skipping the most authentic in modelling tone; Fractal Audio... Guess it's because they can't stock it...
Hand over your mouth when you sneeze! ;^p
In Denmark they traditionally sing falsetto when they sneeze, the high pitch kills any germs in the air ☺☺
Bea hates it. He really is trying to be nice.
Please do sound like The Beatles!
The Bias Head link is the link for a jazz bass.... :0
No bass?
Blindtest affordable modeling amp vs expensive modeling amp!!
0:51 damn that little part there sounds like hole in the earth by deftones
It was easier to see before Pete turned the brightness up.
Damned by faint praise
Your input volume was too low! :(
Use the meter to adjust your input volume to use as much headroom as is available.
I get the idea, I would just get lost completely in the options...
Bias Amp!
Bias Amp?
Bias Amp!
Been playing some Led Zeppelin recently Bea? ;)
So its an app that runs on an iPad or through the head when saved, so I'm guessing the head has a similar dsp / processor to the iPad + a 600w amp? Wow, that's a great sounding app but never worth ~£1200 for that head. Must be incredibly well coded, kudos that that.
same goes for the kemper and other digital devices, its just software and ad covrters and power amp
I agree, just feels like this one cheapened itself by running on a tablet, I wonder what the Kemper processor is? I know that makes no sense though, if it sounds good and runs on string and tin cans then fair enough. 😀
haha, yes
so everyone is issued an apple iPad with the amp right? I think I will stick to things that inspire me to play... not want to chuck an iPad like a Frisbee. If it's too complicated then you spend all your spare time messing about with computers and such. I like to play guitar... not mess with a computer!
Hello
Ouch, this BIAS HEAD is a big joke...?!
-no screen
-no effects
-app Ipad/mac dependent (in 2/3 years, no more update, for sure...)
So it's more expensive than a Fractal AX8 or Kemper wich have proven famous artist could relie on them...
If they can sell 10 of this joke, they will be lucky!
The sound of it makes it not worth it. It has that digital undertone that you can hear if you listen closely
Yeah....... besides the fact that it's almost HALF the price of a Kemper and can be operated via PC or Mac
Anyone else lose the will to live is soon as Pete speaks?
no just you....and you still alive?
@@cordero6960 I am.
Hell you could even get a torpedo C.A.B and a active monitor and still be better off running the app through that.
well i guess thats the secret to getting modeling amps to sound good... just get one that costs more than your tube amp.
$1, 299 no efx deal breaker.
You can pick up old ce's for cheap.
Everytime I've tried or heard a Bias the driven sounds always sound weird this is no different. Save more buy the Kemper.
One thing all this toys have in common is that the presets are inferior to the IR custom profiles.
Kemper's presets are "nice", but there are some IRs out for it that are freaking awesome, 10 times better than the presets

Nice bromance going on ere.. PETER.. cover your mouth when you sneeze that's disgusting you sprayed your germs all over the ipad :-p hehehe
nich
DP jokes?
You should do shorter or edited videos lol
you guys really should have gone to the cloud. there are much better presets there...
Bajs bajs bajs

.YOU TALK TO BLOODY MUCH IM OUTA HERE
