- In this TOP 20 I make a Selection of the Best ARCADE Games of the year 1989.
1989 was for my opinion one of the best ARCADE years of all history. Many games this year marked a before and after, have even been very important titles outside as for example U.N Squadron, Cadash, Insector X ....
All the games are well known and most will probably know or have played in their Arcade era.

I still remember the feeling of complete excitement the first time seeing that 4 player TMNT machine in my small town bowling alley arcade!
My local arcade was called TimeZone and I still recall the exact spot where the TMNT game was. Dad always used to grumble about not wanting to give us money that we'd waste on arcade machines but TMNT was one of the few that he actually enjoyed watching us play, even though we could never get past the second level lol.
Final Fight, and TMNT, still some of my all time favorites!

Creo que no veríamos un año tan rompedor hasta 1998 (a nivel juegos general). Y eso que los siguientes fueron los años dorados, pero 1989 fue el año donde comenzó la era moderna que movería todo los 90 (a nivel 2D).
Naaa los 90s tuvieron su propio estilo...acaso vez en los Tekken, Virtua fighter o juegos de baile alguna influencia de los 80s???
@@MegaBronsky1 Amigo estás hablando de juegos 3D, esos son una historia totalmente distinta ya que es un paradigma de desarrollo e implementación totalmente distinto, y sí tienen raíces en juegos Battlezone de Atari, Space Harrier y los juegos scalling.
i remember playing offroad when i was 11 yrs old. down in the game room of our hotel on vacation it was so awesome. coming in off from the beach playing offroad was so great. i remember they had steering wheels and u would whip those things around to make the turns. the controls were great on that game.
first micro transaction game I recall. 3 Nitros cost 1 quarter.
Good to see final fight at number 1. Such a classic game and one of the first arcade games I ever played

Куча разнообразных игр вызвавших самое разное: часть игр я впервые узнал тут, часть знал ранее и не видел в действии, часть только видел, часть отыграл на эмуляторах, а часть застал на игровых автоматах и даже поиграл с любовью... хоть и позже 1989го года... но так или иначе спасибо за ролик!

WWF Superstars ate up a lot of my tokens during 89’. A few of these arcade games on this list I don’t remember at all.

Like if you actually remember playing these games in the arcade and not on MAME.
I remember playing many of these at the arcade when I was young. And now I have them on MAME because finding an arcade with actual good taste in Midwest America these days is impossible.

Yes, I forgot how many brill games came out in 1989,thanjs for sharing, I have got a few of them on jamma original, final fight, tmnt, crime fighters, golden axe, shadow dancer, those were the days I was 15 years old and many a great day was spent in the arcades in irvine, ayrshire, Scotland and kilmarnock had a few good arcades. I remember the Saturday I walked in with my pal and we seen final fight for the first time... Couldn't believe the speed, graphics, just the size of the sprites it was awesome and still one of the best.. Again thanks for sharing this great list and reminded me of how great 1989 was, God bless. Keiran

As a 40 year old who grew up in the 80's and been to many arcades, I can say that TMNT was by far and away the #1 most popular game in every arcade.

I used to spent hours at a local department stores in Jakarta playing Dragon Breed after school. Good times☺️.
Had a feeling TMNT and Final Fight would be the top two. 1989 really was the year that beat em ups broke.

Gran año para los beat'em ups. Siempre he sido más de Golden Axe que de Final Fight, pero hay que reconocer gráficamente y jugablemente el FF es bastante más avanzado.

Two of my favorites are Tournament CyberBall 2072 ( Robot Football and the ball is a Bomb!😎), and SNK’s Prehistoric Isle where you’re a Jacked up WW1 Biplane fighting Dinosaurs! 🤩

MOST ARCADE GAMES WERE QUITE HARD, AND PEOPLE NOT KNOWING THERE ARE DIP SWITCHES ON PCB BOARD TO MAKE IT EASY OR VERY HARD TO PLAY.

What's that track playing between clips?
There was this arcade game that I played around 91 or 92, but can't remember the name of it.
That game sticks out for me because when you'd run into this big fat sloppy looking biker guy, he'd run after you if you tried to avoid him, but when you'd get farther away from him to where he's almost out of the screen, he'd then really start trying to keep up with you by swinging his arms with his face looking up in the sky while huffing and puffing 😂😂
It was so funny watching him struggle to stay in the screen, it just seemed so realistic for him to do that. It wasn't Bad Dudes.

Estos juegos si fueron buenos como final fight, legend of the valkyrie, sly spy, entre otros titulos de arcade a finales de los 80s, a exepcion de crime fighters ya que me parecio una mierda, pero en fin, buen video

PLEASE HELP! There is an arcade game that I'll be looking for 15 year. The game is around 1987 and 1991. Is a doctor or scientist who got a bottle with a spray as a weapon, he is killing germs or insects with the spray. Is a 2D side scrolling. The character look kind as Mario.

Un juego de los años 80 que se podía jugar con dos player ,un varón y una mujer ,medio del tipo aliens síndrome, pero era mejor. Alguien maso lo recuerda y su nombre?
Para mi el mejor juego de ese año fue Willow. Un juegazo en toda regla. Final fight fue la bomba en su momento pero actualmente no lo puedo jugar me parece algo monotono y aburridisimo, como la mayoria de los beat m ups de capcom que son casi todos iguales. Con las turtles ma pasa lo mismo. En cambio Toki me parece la bomba, aun lo sigo jugando.
Si está claro que los juegos Cooperativos son más conocidos porque hacían más negocio. Incluso para mi el Golden Axe me parece superior al l final fight o turtles, pero es que el juego era muy corto y fácil, los dragones estaban rotísimos. En cuanto experiencia un jugador si que es verdad que willow y Toki son superiores a los beat em ups que eran juegos creados para jugar coop y hacer más negocio.
