I was using a bullet journal (Leuchtturm Bullet journal edition) for a year, completely spontaneously as it was a gift from my husband. Didn't have any artistic input into it, purely functional. I never actually thought I would like it to be honest, but have gone back to a 'standard' week-to-view for the next 18 months and i feel SO restricted.
I miss the bujo freedom as it wasn't just about ticking off a list, it incorporated notes and answers to questions in there. It was quite a holistic approach to planning actually. I want to go back but i feel sorry for my planner I bought :(

If the bujo is working for you the benefits will be so much greater than sticking to something just because you feel bad giving up on it…

I had been using the Baron Fig planner for several years. Past two years was using the Hobonichi Techo. Think I am ready to go back to a two page a week layout, and like that Leuchtturm has that, and a softcover, thinner footprint than the Baron Fig. Great video, thanks.

I like the vertical division format, although I'm still experimenting. Thanks for sharing this - it gives me food for thought.

For about seven years I bought into Passion Planners. Loved the formats, free downloads and customization, totally disappointed in the level of customer service and support. Last year I used a planner from a new company called a PAS planner. Life changed again for me and I found I really enjoyed some of the features in Passion Planner that were not in the new PAS brand, so I tried to include them. I found it useful to write out my goals and dreams and keep track of accomplishments, debrief each week what went well, good things that happened, then do a monthly reflection. The Passion Planner also included a variety of blank and lined pages which I use to take notes, draw and such. Was not pleased with the bulk of either, probably will downsize for 2024. Greatly appreciate all your reviews as it helps to make personal choices a bit easier when sourcing this type of purchase.

Thanks for sharing Dan!! I tried the Passion planner as well, liked the goal setting section but I think at that point in my life I was over the vertical format… gotta check out the PAS planner..

I'm also a fan of the multi-year journals, though I'm using the Midori three-year journal. And for my daily planning, I use a combination of an electronic to-do app (Todoist) and a Hobonichi Techo A6. In the morning or the night before, I list my goals for that day in the Hobonichi, and I use it to track what I eat. I really like the size and how it helps me focus on one day at a time.

How do you find the Techo cover? It looks so flimsy to me. And lots of quotes on every page.. do you find that distracting?

i always like the hobonichi stuff or all the dozens of dupes out there available for 2024 that people are making that dont have the dated dailies and instead just have lots of "notes' pages (its basically just a grid notebook at the back of your planner). i really go for tomoe river paper when i can, but i totally get a lot of people are not into that. Regardless though, I do think the tomoe river planner options out there for 2024 in particular are really really good (layouts and sizes for everyone it seems like).

I’ve always been curious about using a Tomoe River planner but most of them seem to have such flimsy covers and the price point is pretty high. Glad you’re enjoying yours! :)
