The animated series for some reason was very inconsistent with the color brown. Characters with brown hair often had red looking hair (This also applies to Rogue). Gambit and Rogue also had very greenish looking jackets in some episodes while in others it would be brown. My guess is that maybe the animators just didn't have brown? Lol.
yeah, brown was the most expensive color, so they had to use other shades to replace it. Her jacket and hair are supposed to be brown, but it's become confusing because of the cartoon and that little nugget of lore.
He doesn't know squat about Joe's source material which makes a difference as a reviewer since he tends to criticize features that are actually accurate.
I have six Joe's now and to be honest, 3 had qc issues like a fused elbow, wobbely legs or bad paint on the faces. Compared to my ML, there were a few issues on 50+ figures like stuck joints, but nothing that wasn't an easy fix.
@n_explosion8199 not to mention joints that become very loose over time like the abcrunch on my snake eyes and spinny arms it has improved with newer releases though, and I personally will still choose Joes over ML for better articulation, and sculpts.
Rogue had a brown jacket in the comics by Jim Lee. In the Animated series she had a jacket with a "Green-ish/Brown-ish' color (I'm pretty sure this is where people get confused). She had a brown jacket in the "X-Men Vs Street Fighter" video game, and a green jacket in the "Marvel vs Capcom 2" video game.
Rogue's hair and jacket are supposed to be brown. Her hair was red and her jacket was green in the 90s cartoon because Brown was the most expensive color for the animators. It's the same reason Scott's hair is red too. Brown was always being kept in short supply.
When I first realized Hasbro figures started having pinless joints, I had the same reaction when I realized cars no longer have monopole antennas: "Oh, okay."
By going for the cartoon looks, the overly simplified designs make these look like cheap children's toys instead of adult collectables. I think these are fine for new collectors who don't want to pay after-market prices for the older X-Men figures, but if you've been collecting for a while and already have these characters, I don't see any reason to buy the X-Men '97 figures.
It was green but sometimes it looked like a very brownish green. In the Capcom games it was a super light green. In both cases it was easy to see it has something other than green. Not a fan of this new rogue design but it should have been expected I guess. I'll stick with the new bishoujo rogue personally.
I'm only getting this one because the head is the best one they've made in my opinion. Looks more stylized and I've never been a fan of realistic comic booky designs as they get boring. I'll take a more anime look any day!
In the 1990's cartoon her jacket varied between a darkish hunter green look in daylight scenes (like her shot in the opening credits), to a browner dark olive drab, army green in night /shadows (like most of the show). But the Toy Biz 1994 figure's jacket was very brown with only a LITTLE green in it.

Rogue's jacket is green in the cartoon. I didn't grow up with the cartoon, so when I started watching it after seeing the Jim Lee comic art, it's one of the things that immediately stood out to me.
I personally like this figure, it's my first Rouge. I think the face and the hair is fine, at least she's not ugly. I can definitely understand what he feels about it though. It looks good on the shelf with the rest of my X-Men so I'm happy
I think the inside of her jacket was brown in the cartoon while in other adaptations, comics etc. it was fully brown. I have the Rogue figure from 2016ish which is great but this one is pretty mediocre. I see what your saying about the face, doesn't really look like her at all
We have indeed been "Mandela'd"...the first thing I said when I started watching the video was "what's up with the green jacket? It's supposed to be brown."...to which, my GF 100% agreed. But, I looked on Google and apparently, we are all totally wrong and it was always green. ...wtf ever, I call some Mandela BS on this one, for sure!!! Sik

Mister Anthony’s sarcasm was on a whole new level in this review. [😂🤣😅] Love and appreciate your objectivity, mate. The figure is not too bad, honestly. Second best after Bishop, certainly. But Hasbro Marvel Legends still have a lot of catching up to do - especially in terms of quality, accuracy, detail and, of course, paint. Thank you for sharing, Giovanni Marino, M.D.🇬🇧
I only got her to repaint the head. Too much white for me and I like her with a little darker brown hair. Looks so much better without a huge chunk of white glued on top of her head. Never thought Rogue as a redhead.
I was so excited when I found this at retail. Then when I took it out of the package and she could barely stand, plus her shade of yellow being lighter than my other X-Men, I took her back the next and got my money back. Hasbro should've just given her the female feet they've been using up until now. They have three standard molds to choose from for fcks sake!
I think her jacket is green because it's going to be green in the new cartoon. I could be wrong, but I think they've made some adjustments to the character designs for this new run.
People are really saying this is the best in the wave? I know picking a best in this series is like selecting the best turd in the litter box, but I think the easy answer is Bishop. Weird, rounded, torso aside, he at least has the bulk I think a lot of Hasbro's super heroes are missing which goes a long way towards giving the figure some shelf presence. I really like the shade of blue too and how matte his complexion turned out. Paint is wretched and the gun is comically small and gummy, but that's what you get from Marvel Legends. This Rogue is your garden variety ML of 2023. It's fine, but hardly exciting. Face is way too soft, but for some reason Hasbro has a hard time with Rogue's face. I prefer this to the prior Rogue, though more because I just don't like that one and not because I do enjoy this one. Anyway, her jacket was indeed green in the show, or more of an olive drab. I always liked that vs the brown from the comics.
