i have to say, it took me FIVE tins of dulux to paint my dining room with 2 coats and HALF a tin of F&B to paint my living room with 2 coats. the difference in quality is insane so don’t let the price put you off because i’ve saved money overall by painting my rooms with F&B paint. i doubt you would’ve needed anymore than 1 medium tin of F&B to paint your bedroom! if not then 3/4 of a large tin. only half way through so idk which you went with but thought i’d chime in with my experience haha!
Same here. I love the quality and the richness of the pigment of F&B It worth the money trust me And the quality is so good you actually need less paint
Whilst FB is good , Dulux TRADE is just as good and half the price ! Any colours you get mixed to match a shade from a different name will ALWAYS mix differently . Take a look at Egyptian cotton it's a great colour and would go with the railings . To do a good job you would always do at least 2 coats of any paint and if FB is a darker colour , you could always do the first coat in the cheaper one and 2nd one in FB . I bet tho once you've done it , it will look lovely regardless cos the overall look is same . Always start your painting top down and cut in your edges top edge first and any internal corners first then roll main wall . It won't matter if you get the paint on the skirting , cos you cut that in last . The darkest stain looks the best on your bed , don't paint it at this stage , you can always do that later if you don't like the stain . But I think it will look like just what you are thinking , I get the vibe ! Lovely 😊👍
With paint I would go with Farrow and Ball one even tho it is cooler. Bc everything else is warm colour (furniture) it would look good I think. Maybe you can colour match it in another brand
hi emma! jumping in to let you know that you could use a mirror to direct the sunlight on the back of the bed so that you can see the effects of the paint!!
I had a similar situation but ended up going to F&B and the quality of the paint is so much better taking less coats, but also they have colour changing tech in their paints. This is probably why b&q can’t colour match identical to others. Your wardrobes are looking so gorgeous! Love the gold handles against the dark colour 😍🙌🏻✨
I've painted a whole room, hated it, and gone right back up to the hardware store for a different color...it makes for a long day! So I get your dilemma ; )
Can't wait to see the finished bedroom renovation and am curious about the basement project. I too ponder paint colors. It would almost be easier if they didn't have so many shades to choose from.
Hi Emma.. Was rumming around all the comments and it's so funny to see all the opinions.. Paint the bed.. Don't paint it.. Paint.. Don't!! 🤪🤪It won't help you decide, but.. I'm sure you will get it right.. I love all this content and of course I'm following the new instagram account.. Can't wait for the basement makeover.. Best of luck with your choices... 😍 😍 😍
I’ve tried to colour match a couple of Farrow and ball paint, but they never came up the same colour. If you buy the paint in a Farrow and Ball store you can get 5L tin which saves quite a bit of money.
Don't feel bad posting less fashion content for the next while. Decor is fashion-adjacent IMO! Plus I'm planning to move to a new place (which will likely require renos) in the next year so selfishly I want to see more of this type of content. :)
I would go back to where the Valspar paint was mixed and tell them it's not a match for the sample you provided and they should mix it again. It's been done for me in the past basically because they haven't provided a match. Worth a try !!
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who can't choose paint! My husband is currently hassling me to make up my mind on a colour for our bathroom, but there's just too much choice these days. Good luck with your decorating, and I'm interested to tour your basement - sounds a useful space to have.
I’m a total fan of wood being stained, it will hide any scuffs if you catch the wood in the future better than paint too. I love your new furniture so I think the bed will look lovely in a similar stain. It’s all looking amazing! X
Paint, window and bedding, appliances and their color, furniture, lighting fixtures.. It can be so stressful to put it all together. You really want to love it when it's finished. LOL
It looks like valspar just has a pinky undertone which you are not liking. To adjust is needs a little green tint to neutralize it, they could easily do that if they have a good paint person.good luck!
7:16 🐾🐾🤣so cute! And also 7:50 little steps 😂sorry Emma it was a bit funny. I renovated myself our old house and we sold it. Trying to pick the right color it is so frustrating! What I did one time trying to match the paint I liked without spending more money, I went to my local Home Depot and brought them a chip of paint and they matched it perfectly. Mixing your own pain could be a lot of work. Worth it, but still a lot of work. Can’t wait for the next video〰️
I think as well the grey you currently have might be throwing off the shades, im sure the valpsar will be fine. We had the same issue we painted Valspar Pristine over magnolia and it literally looked green until we finished painting it was so weird!! Love your home videos!
I love love interior design videos!!! Please keep going 😍🙏👏👏👏 ratan looking wardrobe was awesome and velvet sofas! I used to own forest green large sofa and it was beautiful
My uncles a painter and says if you have a water stain paint over it in an iol basesd white paint let it dry then paint over it with a colour of your chioce and it works allso you dont need to re do it ever again the iol in the iol based 7nder coat paint seals the stain
Do you have Benjamin Moore in the UK? Your Farrow and Ball looks like it has a blue/green undertone? I’m painting my house in Benjamin Moore Gray Owl which looks like your F&B Swatch. Having said all that those are chameleon colours and change from room to room and time of day

@@EmmaHill right!! I'm going to relay that message! Maybe we don't even have that recommended to us in Australia, is it something to do with surround sound and where to best place your speakers!!?? Brilliant, we have just put them in different areas of our open plan area so we should give this a try and see if it makes any difference to listening quality. Thanks Emma. X
We did notice the volume was different in our original 2 as one is in the kitchen and one in the bedroom - the kitchen is larger (longer) so the settings are slightly different on the 2 once you have done true play (I think anyway 🤣🙈)
Have you been to Affordable Home Store in Lakeside? Similar sort of deal (the staff member described the buying process like T K Maxx - leftover stock and auctions). Morning Emma, I have been an interior designer for 7 yrs, I also wouldn't spend money on F&B instead I mix my own paint colours to create the colour I want. i use a great big bucket and mix various colours to get where I want to be. MIX the paint well in the bucket though, you will save a fortune, I also like to mix chalk paints with emulsion for a really expensive looking pant finish. Looking at the paint you liked (very pale grey) I would say a big tub of emulsion white and some black added a spoon at a time until you get the colour you want, sometimes you may need to add a spoonful or two of blue, the valspar looked more pink to me. This may sound scary but honestly its amazing! I think there is a recent video on my channel with this in? If not feel free to contact me for any advice. Havent finished the video yet so you probably have painted the walls by now .... but hope this helps for future :) Happy new Year x
I also thought it looked pinker and the f&b a bit greeny compared to the Valspar. I would also try with blue (and maybe green if it turns too violet). I think it is worth a try.
I think you have lost your mojo for vlogging, you seem very tired and bothered with so not important things. Wishing you all the best and hope you find your happiness inside you again❤️ Love 🤗
🤣 What I mean is because they are 2 years old, they may not be available in store anymore if someone was looking for them 🙈 Not that they are old old. 🤣
2 years ago is not old, please! Lets be more sustainable and not label things like that. Im 35 and have a dress from when I was 9, that now is a shirt. I have shirts, shoes and all kind of clothes from my grama and my mom when she was still single. We need to rethink how we label cuz that is the start of everything.
I think you miss understood (maybe you haven't seen one of my videos before) but when I say it is old I am referring to whether it will still be available in stores to purchase or not - old season - so saves people searching for something in store if it is no longer available. I obviously don't mean it is old and therefore needs to be thrown away, hence why I am still wearing them and using them as style/outfit inspiration 👍

Pozdrawiam serdecznie :)))
Spend the money on F&B!!! You're wasting time.
I know my opinion doesn't matter b because this is an old video haha but I like the warmer paint anyways
