I always associate the jingles with certain programmes on that station....Anglia..."From Norwich, it's the quiz of the week!" (Sale of the Century)....ATV, "Crossroads"....Southern, "The Famous Five"....HTV West, "Children of the Stones" ....Yorkshire, "3-2-1" and "Emmerdale Farm"....Granada, "Hickory House" and "Coronation Street"....STV, Andy Stewart.....LWT, "Play Your Cards Right"....and Thames, a number of shows as it was my local region, but perhaps best of all, "Rainbow"!
Thames TV before Minder, George & Mildred and Wish You Were Here; LWT before Metal Mickey and Mind Your Language; Central before Spitting Image; Yorkshire before Emmerdale Farm and Rising Damp; Anglia before Mr & Mrs. Happy memories!
I’m an American so now thanks to the internet, we can see these gems. I discovered a website devoted to TV idents from the UK several years ago and it also featured clocks. I love the HTV sounder at
Excellent video footage of ITV regional idents during the early 70s I recall my late parents having a Reedifussion TV with the selector switch on the window ledge I recall seeing Yorkshire TV and Tyne tees TV and also the TV could be switched off and radio stations been able to be selected in later years I recall ITV Tyne tees being renamed ch3 North East
The golden age of ITV, when it had a regional identities and made high quality, successful programmes.

HTV was really clever the way it morphed into a TV aerial, and the Jingles were fantastic.
Anglia TV had the best ident, the knight on the horse.
they're just...remakes.
itv plc have forgotten what ITV stands for
All in can here for Thames is "Here they are now. Morecambe and Wise"

always remember YTV Y logo taking of for 3-2-1
Social history that should be preserved.
I tear up when I watch these because when the (70s) idents first aired I saw them with family and friends that aren't with me anymore.

Nice to see the OU idents, haven’t seen those since I was little.
A few ATV and Thames programs were shown in the USA, so those are the only IDs I've seen before.
I remember growing up in Essex and we used to be able to get Thames television, anglia and tvs. Had to adjust the indoor Aerial a bit lol
