Impressive car for sure. Agree it’s the best driving Porsche today. Just did 1906km going through half of Norway over steep mountains on Norway’s west coast. Range is good enough for almost anything. Can easily do +500km in Range Mode if you feather the throttle. Going fast up mountains 300-350km is achievable and the charging network is OK in the south of Norway with plenty fast +150KW chargers. Up north you are stuck with 50KW chargers mostly or overnight 16A at hotels gaining 100-150km over night. Ferries and toll roads are 50-75% discounted in an electric vehicle. Love the Taycan.
Great car, awesome color "new Thomas blue" and finally an animal skin free Porsche!!! I hope we see you in the new targa soon! Best reviewer, best Porsche.

Thank you for the funny, informative, and detailed review, as always, Thomas! However, I was surprised that you made no mention of the 2-speed automatic transmission. Very few RUclips reviews have directly addressed the 2-speed in a detailed way, other than saying it gives the Taycan better higher-speed acceleration than the Tesla Model S Performance. I was hoping you would address whether it is in any way clunky and how noticeable it is in everyday driving. Honestly about the sound: It doesn't matter if you need it or not. You can turn it off or on! That's the best part of it. If you like it go for it, if not leave it off.
Very enjoyable and relaxing to watch. Missing Jonas’ great camera work but amazing work Thomas! I like the electric sound at high speed acceleration. City driving with no sound will be lovely. Reminded me of Thomas’ B9 S4 review where he described the driving experience as “serenity” over a shot of the wing mirror at speed. That scene comes in my mind when cruising in my A4 black ed. Thank you very much. Pure driving passion !
I enjoyed this review. Thanks, Thomas! Keep it up! Tolles video! 👍🏽 I hope to buy the Porsche Taycan someday and also hope the charging infrastructure gets better by then. (Also, seeing the autobahn and the city/town made it nostalgic for me since I was born in 🇩🇪, but now live in the 🇬🇧)
Yeah, a really honest review - that's really a relieft instead of many fan boys. So what I would like to see is the self parking ability especially where the vehicle has to back several meters (at least 10 meter) in a narrow path.
It seems like it is suitable for almost any inexperienced driver of sports cars, very stable and safe, giving good confidence to control; the sound not necessary but suppose it just gives an impression that there is actually power going to the wheels. In contrast the user interface appears terrible although I would never say no to owning the car if I had the chance. Great reviews, the Thomas blue looked great in that model!
Great quality review as always Thomas. I will consider this car as my only car in the coming years here in the Netherlands as the charging infrastructure becomes better. 800V should give it an edge in terms of charging speed even though it is very hard to compete with Tesla’s charging network.
Great review, as always. Worth the wait. To my eyes the Taycan has beautiful styling, especially from the front and side profile. The roofline from A pillar to C pillar is what the Panamera should have always had. Hopefully in the next generation
Agree 100% on the sport sound. Sounds fun for about 5 minutes when you are flooring it. As soon as you start driving normally, it gets annoying REALLY fast. I think my opinion is the same as yours. Sounds like something is wrong with the car. I’m surprised you fit in the back so well. I am 6’2” and sit pretty far back. I could barely get into the rear seat behind myself
Hi Thomas, Thx for the very good review of the Porsche Taycan 4S. Just wanted to mention that sound in E-cars is more of a security matter. There have been a lot of accidents with pedestrians and cyclists that do not hear the E-cars approaching. So a side from a V8 sound or a V6 sound or a sportsound, some kind of sound is necessary to prevent traffic accidents mainly in the cities.

Wanted to ask on your range comments. I believe that they were all based on WLTP figures? Have you tried any tests of the cars you were mentioning in both range mode and sporty driving? As Bjorn had seen 440km at 90kph with the 79kWh battery I am not sure you will see a dramatic difference and realize that the Taycan 20" tires has 285mm in rear vs 245mm for Tesla.
Based on different experiences, test drives, colleagues, test drivers, consumption kwh figures. I am referring to everyday driving figures and dont try to do a maximum range run as this is not realistic for normal driving without caring too much about range
@@autogefuehl yes, but I did not follow why it was said road trips or long commutes would be an issue with an EV getting over 200mi range and that can charge very fast.
That was at 120 km/h. The range for 90 km/h was 579 km. ruclips.net/video/VB24iJbusgQ/видео.html Also, by the way, there is no "kph", the correct way to abbreviate kilometers per hour is km/h. I know that can be hard for Americans who is baffled by "/" but it's the SI standard (SI units, SI standard for how to write them).
Interesting that you should find it feels small. I drive a Panamera daily. I had a Taycan TurboS for 2 days and couldn't get head around how much smaller, lighter and nimble it felt.
Dear Sir thank you for the exquisite review. I heard the cross Turismo was announced to a porsche dealer here in asia to be ready for purchase on the road in July 2020. Would you have any information regarding the cross turismo? Danke
When the "sports sound" was switched on it seemed to give an aural connection to the rate of travel. When switched off it was maybe less able to get the impression of how fast you were travelling. This is probably something to do with our familiarity with ICE sounds. Maybe in a generation people will learn new ways to appreciate acceleration and rate of travel.
How's the display reflectivity in real life from the driver's seat on sunny days? From the passenger seat camera, it looks terribly reflective. (not that I'll need consumer advice on a €150k+ car, but... sigh)
The best Taycan review ever. A question. How does Taycan's sound compare to BMW (Hans Zimmer) and Mazda (MX-30)? Which one is more engaging? I have owned a Model 3 Performance for 3 months, to be honest, it's boring to drive, I feel bored everyday while driving. It lacks something that makes me excited. I want to know the vehicle is working harder and harder, and we (the driver and the car) are getting closer and closer to the limit. A digital number is not enough. I really need some acoustic feedback to get excited. This Taycan's sound is, yeah, I don't know. It's great to hear the shift, but at high speed, the sound is not that exciting.
Thanks for the review Thomas, I would like to find out if the vehicle you tested really had PDCC, I think what you felt was only the base chassis control managed by the air suspension. PDCC is a quite expensive option and only used in the very dynamic (read aggressive/fast) driving. Also range wise you can see Bjorn got 440km on a 4S with the smaller battery at 90kph so range wise it's not so much different than other efficient EVs. Also folks have taken it on a 11k mile road trip around the United States thru Canada in the snow so road trips are feasible as long as you have fast chargers available.
@@autogefuehl I'm sorry Porsche didn't give it to you in Thomas (Gentian) Blue. But at least it was animal free which I know you appreciate from watching many of your reviews.
About the electric sport sound, and what i understand it, different recuperationsystem. I guess its easier to get used to EVs that way, if you come from ”normal” cars. More similaritys, so to say. Its just a thought, but in my case that would help a lot, and that made me have second thought about EVs at least. Learning an old dog to sit could be difficult🤣 By the way, really like your rewiev🙂
Great, comprehensive review as usual Thomas. However, I do think you're selling the 4S's range short. There was a gentleman who drove his Taycan Turbo S over 10,000 miles from/through Canada into and around the US back to his home state near the Canadian border. He drove a good portion of his trip in cold, subfreezing, wintry, mountainous weather on winter tires to boot. And the worst mileage he got was about 180 miles (he ranged between 180-240, driving 'very fast' in the western and southern states of the US he admitted). And that was a Turbo S. Actually, it's the Tesla's that do substantially poor in cold weather and/or poor conditions. The Taycan and Tesla's mileage are downright comparable in the Real World. Considering what you get in driver satisfaction, the Porsche's more than worthwhile choice for many drivers.
Τhomas do you know if a basic Taycan comes in the market next year?Excellent review and for me frozen blue is the best color for taycan buyers!A special colour for a special car not like the common colours black grey white red etc that you can see in every ordinary car.
@@autogefuehl thank you Thomas!please tell me if you liked the frozen blue in real life would you recommend it or you prefer some other colour for Taycan!your answer matters a lot to me!
Nice car, nice shape, a fun drive - but too expensive! A second-hand e-Golf is better value! Great driving part, Thomas. Live on tape, the most authentic driving experience! A special coating on the brakes to prevent rust when not being used - I wish all cars had that! Many thanks for your work, Thomas. Best wishes.
Hey, I know the Elfringhauser Schweiz! ;-) But does anyone know the conditions of Porsche destination charging with over 1000 charge points so far? Can anyone get free electricity or is it like Tesla destination charging where the majority of charge points (e.g. 2 if there are 3) at one location must be reserved and can only be activated by Tesla vehicles?
@@autogefuehl Is Ionity less reliable in your opinion? It has more sites in Germany (e.g. Schwerte, Remscheid, Hilden) and faster charging than Tesla, while price should be the same with the Taycan charge card. EnBW also expands its Hyperchargers (e.g. Wuppertal), so alternatives and competition is coming along.
I love how vegan and green it is! ❤ Such amazing execution! If this is a taste of the future, I want more! I wish I could afford it. 😢 Cheers, Thomas. ❤ Hope you are safe and well. With or without the electric sound: Oof, that is a tough one for me right there. I think sometimes I would have it on and have it off other times, but mostly on. I do love the sound. But over time once I have gotten over the epic sound, I would rather not have any sound at all. I think the electric platform should just be what it actually is...authentic. It sounds cool, yes, but I prefer reality. The same applies to gasoline cars with fake sounds. I do not hunger for sounds. Seems really cool to drive! Porsche doing great as always! I have added this to the list of cars I wish I could take to the German Autobahn! This car could be a cool secondary car for me with maybe the Cayenne as a primary car, if I was buying. The range is pretty decent for me. I do not think that is a bad thing in this case, because I do not drive aggressively all the time, and if I did I would obviously be self-aware about it. There will be no complaints about the range from me, because I know what I am doing just like when I am driving a gasoline car. This car I think would compete with the Mercedes-Benz EQS or EQE when they come out. I am not sure. We shall see in the future. Thanks you, Thomas. 🤗 Authentic and informative review as always. ❤ I still love how you are advocating for more animal-free materials and vegan. I can confirm with experience that animal-free materials are so much better and are the way to go! I have been going more and more vegan over the years. Hopefully I can get my hands on a plug-in hybrid vehicle by 2021. I am still waiting for Mercedes-Benz to offer my market more wide charging networks and plug-in hybrids for a C-Class or E-Class (like they did amazingly with the GLE) or a fully electric sedan/saloon. I hear the new E-Class and C-Class may be available as plug-in and mild hybrids. Hopefully a review on those too. Cheers, Thomas! Stay safe! ❤😎

Thanks! It even had a PDCC gauge in the left instrument cluster to pick from, so yes
@@autogefuehl thank you. What a well equipped 4S. I was planning on omitting PDCC and PTV+. Now I will think more.
I also think PDCC is not really that necessary
@@autogefuehl I'm sorry Porsche didn't give it to you in Thomas (Gentian) Blue. But at least it was animal free which I know you appreciate from watching many of your reviews.
yes indeed! Its a cool color though. Gentian however we had in the very first static episode, also seen in some of the exterior static shots here :)
22:27 Thomas is the back seat.
😂
As a Tesla fanboy I never thought I'd say this but,
Porsche Taycan > Model S
About the electric sport sound, and what i understand it, different recuperationsystem. I guess its easier to get used to EVs that way, if you come from ”normal” cars. More similaritys, so to say. Its just a thought, but in my case that would help a lot, and that made me have second thought about EVs at least. Learning an old dog to sit could be difficult🤣 By the way, really like your rewiev🙂
Thanks 🙏 please recommend our channel 😊
Considering what you get in driver satisfaction, the Porsche's more than worthwhile choice for many drivers.
thanks !=)
hehe well rather say a little less and dont get stuck somewhere... we ll see how it plays out long term

Pump it up yo! 🚗💪🆙
Does Porsche have their own charging stations or can this car charge at Tesla’s charging stations
Ionity for Europe, Electrify America for the US
26:49 "look at how stable the car is..." drives over the white line :D
Τhomas do you know if a basic Taycan comes in the market next year?Excellent review and for me frozen blue is the best color for taycan buyers!A special colour for a special car not like the common colours black grey white red etc that you can see in every ordinary car.
I guess they ll make a cheaper entry version
@@autogefuehl thank you Thomas!please tell me if you liked the frozen blue in real life would you recommend it or you prefer some other colour for Taycan!your answer matters a lot to me!
Ι m waiting an answer please
god i want it badly
That's what she said.
Best wishes.
best wishes!
Hey, I know the Elfringhauser Schweiz! ;-)
But does anyone know the conditions of Porsche destination charging with over 1000 charge points so far? Can anyone get free electricity or is it like Tesla destination charging where the majority of charge points (e.g. 2 if there are 3) at one location must be reserved and can only be activated by Tesla vehicles?
=)
Well the Tesla supercharger network is superior so far. At the moment I would trust in home charging only if it isnt Tesla
Stay safe! ❤😎
Way to go my friend
