I like to think a lot of the actors, have a connection with the characters that they voiced for years and years and years, and some of them most of them wouldn’t want somebody else to do the voice acting unless absolutely necessary. Either that or might be in their contract.

Thinking about what characters are available at this time, Red Guardian, Arnim Zola, Wenwu, Namor, Iron Maiden, and Winter Soldier would make a pretty good Thunderbolts team to mirror the Avengers.

I was wondering that too. We now have a timeline where Howard Stark isn’t dead. More the reason to revisit this timeline because this is crazy!

I think Peter saying Thor looks like the guy from Van Halen could also be a reference to the charater Valhallen from the Justice Friends segments of Dexter's Lab. Also, Peter's energy finger gun felt like an homage to Yuske's Spirit Gun from YuYu Hakusho.
Was also thinking the Valhallen reference as well since that character is Thor's Parody in Justice Friends

I loved Noir Nebula in Episode 1 and the whole team in Episode 2 were fantastic. They set the bar high this season.

I'm always down for a little bit of Bucky, and in this episode he was SO COOL. That sidelook at Peggy, it gave me shivers, the Winter Soldier is the scariest character in the MCU, I hope we will see him again since he went stray now

When I saw Bucky was going to be in this season as the Soldier, I went "he better talk". Then this episode opens, I see Sebastian's name, and I go "YES, he talks!"

I'm surprised you didn't mention the obvious easter egg of Peter staring so fondly at a collection of toy raccoons, then keeping one for himself. Sort of like his celestial power helped him remember another life

What a great episode, and an interesting asssemblage of characters. It was really fun to see them get to interact with each other. I was so happy to get some more of mar- vell ,and bill foster. I'd be up for more of this team.

This episode was really good! I always thought that these kinds of stories could open the doors of expanding whichever reality to explore further like the Marvel Zombies, or supposedly Chadwick Boseman’s Star-Lord T’Challa variant before his untimely passing.
I hope we get more stories from this version of Avengers that could potentially go from the 80’s to the present day. I’d love to see Hope and Quill grow up to become Avengers alongside Tony Stark, Thor, Hawkeye, Black Widow, T’Challa, and Caps America and Marvel.
They’re going to destroy Ego’s planet to make sure Ego cant ever do it again so Quill’s going to lose his powers. I still don’t think Quill would just stop after this but he’s not in space anymore and he’s not being trained by ravangers. So I don’t know how he’d do it agility/dexterity isn’t really Quill’s thing either

This could’ve been a movie “The Avengers:Class of 88”they could easily continue this story and make it more important in the MCU it has so much potential

I thought there was a clear comparison between Hank Pym and the Stark mentality when Hank said, I have a plan: Retreat, and Tony, in The Avengers, had said, I have a plan: Attack. Another example of the Starks and the Pyms having perfectly opposing viewpoints.

I really hope that we get to see this Avengers team in live-action in Secret Wars or some other multiverse film. One difference I've noticed from these first 2 episodes as compared to last season is that they both end on pretty happy and hopeful beats. I suppose the Captain Carter and Star-Lord T'Challa episodes ended pretty hopefully, though it was kind of sad for Peggy Carter. I wonder if they deliberately decided on happy endings since the show is streaming over the holidays. Alternatively, the happy endings may have inspired Disney to release this season over Christmas. Or perhaps tomorrow's episode will have a very dark ending like last season's zombie episode. But some how I doubt "What If... Happy Hogan Saved Christmas?" will have a dark ending. Happy Hogan saves Christmas, but accidentally ends the world on Boxing Day? I doubt it.

I liked how the 2 first episodes were about a team grouping up. Made me question if this season's finale is going to be about a group of groups.

does anyone eyes get teary after hearing the og avengers theme. its been 4 years since the theme got played in theaters and it will take another 2-3 years we will hear it again. The end feels special to me
I feel like what others misunderstood is that Party Thor was Thor if he truly expressed himself and much more light-hearted from the start (like in Ragnorok) despite the immaturity instead of being all masculine, brash and warmongering all the time (like in Thor 1) and I think 80s Thor is pretty much the same mainstream timeline Thor (like in Thor 1 and 2) but darker as he doesn't mind killing a child but warms up more around the 80s Avengers which helps him realise that brutal violence isn't always the answer
These first two episodes have been awesome!

Having an 80s era Avengers team makes me want a What If episode where they introduce the MCU's version of The Invaders.
The episode could have Hydra's WW2 operations endanger Talokan and Namor sets out to stop it, attacks the SSR first by mistake which brings him into contact with Steve and the Howling Commandos. After a scuffle Steve and Namor team up to stop a Hydra plot at the Stark Expo where some Tesseract weapon hits the Human Torch display that was an Easter Egg in First Avenger only the weapon activates the Human Torch (have him voice who ever voices MCU Johnny Storm as a fun cameo) and he helps Steve and Namor stop Hydra. Thus we get the main Invaders trio and maybe even an WW2 era Black Panther (touching on Wakanda's war time assistance which Howard mentions in this era) and a few others like isaiah Bradley or even bring back the Dottie Underwood Black Widow from the Agent Carter show.

This is my favorite episode in the entire series so far. Throughout the Sacred Timeline we meet characters who were obviously very cool in their time, but are retired by the time of the movies. I love the fact that this episode lets us see some of them in action
Isn’t it unsettling seeing Bucky interact with Howard a year before he’s going to kill him and his wife. I wonder if this situation changed that event.
It likely did unless the Russians can recapture him he didn't go back to them though they do have other winter soldiers so they may still die

That would have been nice but Shuri is too young to help him with the brain washing and while very cool here, T'Chaka knows his people may not like Bucky there. Besides Bucky left them after the battle so they would need to find him again@@collizlemynizl

I love how this episode had more genuine connectivity to the MCU than much of the movies in recent years.
The scene where Hope shrinks Peter's cell gave me Honey, I Shrunk the Kids vibes, which of course would be released in 1989 (the year of Hank's resignation in the OG Ant-Man movie and the year after this episode's 1988).

Only two episodes in, but so far it seems like each episode is ending with putting a team together, which I'm guess is leading towards an Endgame style bringing everyone together.
This was another fantastic episode, as it perfectly contrasted the sci-fi film noir setting with a superhero team up setting, that had an 80s twist to it. I'm really looking forward to next episode of what's shaping up to be a fantastic season so far.
Also, I really hope that Disney is taking notes from Marvel, as the animation style for What If...? is absolutely gorgeous, the best I've seen in a long time and should eventually become the norm for all Disney animated films (exc. Pixar) moving forward.

Based on the music cue and Thor's inflection, I think "Suit up, team" was the feeble catchphrase of a team who never heard Cap say "Avengers, Assemble."
