fact #81 the tau have a treaty with the space marines and in the sixth edition rulebook were listed as battle brothers
+Ferrus Manus don't let the ordo xenon hear you. shhhh
(;
Brother! Your alive! Or am I dead?...
both
but we shall fight on even after death
Fun facts, but there are these constant popping sounds that really hurt your ears if you are wearing headphones
+MrPacpie I feel your pain. And so do my eardrums.
+MrPacpie I don't know how old your speakers/headphones are but nowadays you can lower the volume.
+ConorChaos This is true, but then you cant really hear the words seeing as the popping is about the same volume. The pictures are nice but not really why I am here. Also, pretty sure there has never been speakers/headphones on which you cannot reduce the volume and therefore I must conclude you are being sassy and no one likes a sassy person. If you were not being sassy then I apologize
+MrPacpie its funny, i was like on fact number 5 and had to pause and scroll down and see if anyone mention this... it is annoying...
+MrPacpie Yeah this guy seriously needs a pop filter.
Tau are probably my favorite race in 40k, them or Necrons. The Tau are just really refreshing in how they operate and remind me of a non-idiotic version of Halo's Covenant.
You are the only person I have ever heard so far in the internet who properly like the Tau. Not that im against the tau or what you prefer.
@@werhnerd2773 i like them. They are a great addition to a grimdark universe because they are the naive and optimistic ones who are gonna slowly be transformed by the world they live in. Even worse : the guys who control them, who they revere, may have already planted the seeds of a dark turn for the tau race. As, you know, they mindcontrol them.
Edit : i have actually seen many who love them. I see far more hate toward eldars lmao
If you want to live in a "more peaceful" setting in the 40k Galaxy, live & pledge your allegiance to the Tau Empire! Tau, Kroot, Vespid & even Humans work & fight for the Greater Good of all races under the Tau Empire. Remember, its your Empire too.
agreed

HERESY!!!
Citizens of the Imperium, shield your eyes for this Xeno contrived filth of falsehood. The glorious Astra Militarum is even now on its way to deliver you.
The rest of you, "compliant model Tau citizens" look toward the sky and await the blinding freedom of Exterminatus.
Jack McCall Heresy it may be, but true! Go ahead, your ships can't even get near Tau air space. They'll burn with plasma fire before they enter Tau protected human worlds! Unless... they wish to join Gue'vesa, living not for some Imperium who don't care about its citizens, but for the Greater Good of all who are with us.
HERESY!!!
Purification through superior fire power. Smile, wave to the Master of Ordinance, and wait for the flash.
*speaking speaking* THUMP *speaking speaking* THUMP
Yeah I really dont understand how someone can record, or do a test recording then think that all this puffing sounds okay. Like, "Yeah dude I'll put this up this for sure isn't annoying as fuck".
Back before OMS could afford pop filters.
I thought a door was slamming in my house...
To the right, left, right, right, left, right, left AND SO FUCKING ON. SCARBRAND HATES THUMPS !
Question for those who know more about 40K: I don't play the game but I love reading the lore....how exactly do the Tau deal with demons if they don't believe in the supernatural?
That is a good question. ask commander farsight as he is the only one who has encounter it.
RXdash78 I remember some of the old fluff. The Tau came across a Slaanesh army and thought the commander was Slaanesh.
They've fought demons before. But never attributed their existance to be anything other than any other kind of monster. Farsight fought them more than others and may have been tainted by that fact.
Demons don't really care about Tau, they don't have any warp presence. There is no reason why demons would fight them for any reason other than self defense.
Demons are mostly drawn to beings with strong psychic powers (notably humans and Eldar,) because psychic power is drawn from the Warp, the alternate dimension demons come from. Tau have almost no connection to the Warp at all, so rarely encounter them, though they have before at least once (see:Commander Farsight.)
It's also worth noting that, in 40k, demons aren't actually magical or supernatural, but basically incredibly powerful aliens from a different dimension.
"The homeworld of the tau empire is called... tau" For some reason this cracked me up 😂
I'm generally an all-lover of the W40k Universe, but damn... In dark crusade, the tau stole the show.
Totally agree, kind of we needed a refreshing view of the far future xD xD
Dat Ethereal pronunciation.
+Casper Christensen Yeah, never heard it pronounced like that before.
+Alexander Nielsen I like it sounds exotic
+Dragonpunch903 903 I feel like I'm in a safari
More like "EE THEA REAL"

You're all welcome.
"Vespids use special frequencies to fire their weapon"
Which means that giant lever that greatly resembles a trigger is for..?
reloading
XV88 broadside battlesuit! man I'm crazy for the Tau!
I love their ideals, philosophy, technology.
I've learned a lot about their language, and I know everything about their history
I have a Tau shirt with my name written in Tau characters.
I refuse to play dawn of war 2 for it doesn't have the Tau as a full playable race...
They are in last stand mode ( in Retribution)
'paradise retirement world' sounds like propaganda.
Joshua Banner well the tau praise there veterans and since they have so many worlds they have a world just for veterans, unless they need them to team a stormsurge, which is Controlled by veterans.
Imperium also has some actually, it's a thing.
@@papanurgle8393 also known as Catachan xd
Fact N.6 Proved to me that the Tau are the coolest and best faction in W40k
just a tip, cover your mic with a sock and use a rubber band to make it form closely to the mic - not trying to tell you how to do your job, its just that that popping is killing me ears, great video though :) i listened through whilst writing a term paper.
I am only curious.... if you join the Tau as a human, can you breed with a female Tau? I am only curious, because of research....

Asking the real questions here.
Sadicus Serpius
I'd assume not. Being an alien race, they're reproductive systems are probably very different from ours. Sure, we may be able to stick our dick their foreheads but it probably wouldn't do anything.
You disgusting race traitor
I think this question will require some extensive experimental testing to verify, now to proper explore this we're going to have to filter out all the possible variables so we're going to need only young fertile tau women at the height of their reproductive cycle, and we're going to have to have members from all castes, preferably several members from each caste just to take into account possible genetic or reproductive factors that may hinder the experiment, and obviously we'd have to repeat the experiment multiple times... all for science of course, ahh what burdens we scientists must suffer for the greater good
crwydryny *Sighs* How true, my fellow scientist... but remember that it is our responsability to find out the possibilities.
Let the science begin.
a) You dont need to actually say Fact #1, Fact #2 etc. its annoying. As is the thumping sounds every 5-6 seconds throughout the vid. Apart from that - very good.
The video is awesome. Love listening to this in the background. I think a pop filter for your mic would help the sound pops. :)
+ConorChaos or just tilt thine mouth slightly away from the microphone. That'll fix at least 50% of the popping.
+ConorChaos or try not to get so close to the mic
Jasmin Ross That's useful too, yeah. Speak over the mic, not into it. :)
exactly
"Tau exosuits are meant to resemble a faster, sleeker version of a Space Marine Dreadnaught...I don't know if they did that right"
Actually, if you remove the "head" of the exosuit, the torso actually does look vaguely dreadnaught-ish, with a bulging central segment flanked by two slightly recessed areas on both sides. And sure the exosuits don't look so sleek, but have you seen Dreadnaughts? I've seen concrete bunkers shaped more sleekly than Dreadnaughts, so it's not like that's a high bar...
+ashtherion I see it now, you're right
Actually it ended in stalemate, not because of the tyranids but also because the imperium's foks had realized that they had overextended their supply lines. Man, it was just a matter of time until farsight cripples them.
how can u win someone that has 10 to 20 times your numbers ?
@@makisroditis7206 even in mankind's story that happened quite a few times, remember the greeks and persians war? Just to set an example... strategy can sometimes make the trick.
Pop filter on your mic?
+ThePromesian will do.
+ThePromesian please do
+ThePromesian Any suggestions on how to do that? I have similar issues when I try to record audio no matter what recording device I use. I don't have any issues with voice chat, though. It only "pops" when I try to make videos.
#47, home galaxy? The Tau get more advanced every day. >.>
Fact number 1 about the Tau from the Warhammer 40,000 universe, they are a race from the 40K universe.
Mind.Blown.
Good stuff! Tau are by far my favourite race in the setting.
Mine too
-sound alchemist
+OneMindSyndicate i think you forgot the tau only have 4 fingers that a fact
how do you mess up the pronouncing ethereal? assuming that english is your first language, it made my ears bleed -_-
You never mentioned the warp storm that prevented Mankind from eliminating the tau when they were still a young race... Or their rapid development...or their tech heresy...
On the other hand, don't you think stroke of luck was one of the factor that makes our (real life) humanity moved forward until today? 😳
8:08 #47 "...often mark their helmets and armours with insignia of rank and home *galaxy*"
Eh no, tau is an interstellar empire, not a galactic empire, let alone an inter-galactic empire. In fact, all of their territories are within the Milky way galaxy, along the area around the Imperial eastern fringe.
It should have been their "septs".
+lcmiracle you're right, my error for saying galaxy
Eth-uh-real? it's Eh-thee-reyal!
+Charlie Macmillan are you sure?
+OneMindSyndicate Eh-Thee-Ree-Uhl
+OneMindSyndicate Yessir. Eth-eer-ee-uhl!
+OneMindSyndicate Charlie got it right.
+OneMindSyndicate also, It's Dem-ee-urg, not "demerg" or "Demirue"
"newest super power"
"worst melee"
Many of these lore facts are wrong. They are hardly a super power and most imperial commanders would have never heard of them before. And saying they have poor melee only apply to the tau race, not the tau empire. The kroot are experts in melee combat
They are a Super Power due to circumstance. Man may have more than enough to crush them, but they are spread way too thin fighting their own impending doom to be a huge threat. And once that carcass in the Golden Throne dies (he gets closer every day), man is done for anyways. No race can show up and set up shop in Tau space without VERY stiff resistance... Patience killer applies to the human situation.
Faish Al-Deen actually they aren't that much of a super power due to circumstance. There are hundreds if not thousands of other alien empires their size, smaller or larger in the galaxy
But do they have the firepower and brains to hold their own in the face of any threat? Ok, even if they aren't a 'super power' yet, they will be over time. Their only weakness lies in the fact that they cannot travel long distances in the warp. That, and those weak etherals they damn near worship. Let the fire warriors run the show and give them normal warp travel, and it'll be a totally different story. They just need time.
+Faish Al-Deen yeah i agree with you.
+Faish Al-Deen hate to tell you this but a one point in tau history the fire warriors were more like the imperium see it kill it with fire it was do to the etherals that say hey let not kill aliens that are different but let them join us
Tau is love, tau is life.
The picture where he sits on those skulls, im still in love with it.
You got one small thing wrong. The first contact between the Tau and the Imperium was when the Tau were still primitives and the Imperium ignored them and left to deal with some other threat or a warp storm or something. The presence of the humans scared the Tau so badly that they formed together and became the modern Tau over several millennia.
"fact 4" is untrue.
Tau were an attempt to bring the Beastmen army's tactics and playstyle, as well as aesthetic, into 40k properly due to general dissatisfaction with the Rogue Trader era beastmen, (Andy Chambers)
The tau fire warrior is clearly to scale with and has the same basic body-type as the classic ungor. They also play with a similar highly mobility-focused army with low leadership numbers.
hey what's that miniature at 12:52 for fact 74? It looks so cool I'm trying to find Demiurg miniatures and this one looks really nice. I'm getting some warpath forgefathers after their kickstarter campaign is done and I will probably also use these models as demiurg (excited!)
thanks and awesome videos btw happy to subscribe
everything changed when the fire caste attacked
+Moangus PIckard universe cross over
So, how they cool of? Like dogs? That means that Tau has zero endurance, especially in hot climates and they rely on their armor suits to keep them cold. This would mean that in hot enviroments, all you need to do in order to beat Tau is to launch a massive EMP strike on the battlezone and then forcing Tau to war of maneuver. In this way you will simply outwalk Tau since Fire Warriors will be completely unable to match requirements for this level of endurance. Even though, I do not expect logic and consistency to apply for w40k anyways.
Hoofs also impact movement in a negative way. Hoofs are fine for brutish movement, but they completely lack any subtlelty. For example, a hoof is a nice pressure point which propels body forwards, same as a feet. The issue here is that feet is capable of far wider range of movement. Its fingers and length helps to shift pressure around it and thus, better control movement of a person. This is why we essentially can dance and perform other accrobatics. Tau on the other hand has a very rundamentary control capabilities, instead of our 360 degrees movement capabilities, they have only 4 basic ones and additional directional movement must come from hips rather than a foot thus making movement for Tau just pathetic. It is like asking horse to dance and horses have 4 hoofs thus easier time in maintaining balance. I can see now why they suck so badly at melee. They are blind, unable to move, I bet that I could slay a fire warrior in full body armor by beating him to death by random household items.
REgamesplayer The problem is that in the Tau army there are a lot of different species, so on a hot planet they would send an army composed of a species adapted to hot planets or humans.
If you could get to him before he shot you

Keep firing, keep firing!
Don't let the prey get away!

"Ended in a stalemate"

"Because of the tyranids inva-"
Me: "Uh Oh! That doesnt sound good..."
*Literally the next fact
"The Tau were under threat by the Tyranid high fleet behemoth"
Me: "Sounds about right"
Great video! Used it for reference in my Rogue Trader campaign. Thanks
Small tip, you may want to check your audio it kept "booming" randomly on my end. :)
+Benjamin Follett Rouge Trder campaign? tell me more
+OneMindSyndicate It's a 40k Role-playing game, think Dungeons and Dragons style of pen and paper RP but set in the 40k universe.
The Rogue Trader campaign is rated to be one of the more lenient ones as you play as a crew of voids-man (Or the Rogue Trader himself) exploring the universe and doing whatever the GM puts against you! It's great as there is no real objective, it's whatever the crew wants to do.
The reason I found this a great reference was due to the factor that you CAN play as Tau in the game with the humans (along with other xenos) or go against them.
By the by, the Tau Empire faction was released to coincide with the introduction of the WH40K product line into Japan -- and influenced from Japanese samurai ethos and anime mecha; not from China. Just to be clear.
+quadcannon I can see the Japanese influence and like i said it was influenced by anime mechs
fact 64 for sounds to me a bit Incomplet
The Tau do not possess psykers (indeed, their minds barely register in the Warp at all) and as a result have little knowledge of the Immaterium beyond its existence. This gives them some level of resistance to Warp-based powers affecting the mind, but it offers little, if any, protection against physically-manifested offensive psychic powers. They are largely unaware of the perils of the Immaterium and for this reason the Tau have conducted research into the Warp on Medusa V, however, the conclusion was reached that further research was unfeasible, and that "the Warp is no place for the Greater Good and is best left to those foolhardy races who cannot pull back from that terrible realm." Ethereal Caste members also have a diamond-shaped bony ridge on their head. It is believed by Imperial scholars that through this organ the Ethereals exert a pheromone-based or latent psychic control over the other Tau castes to keep them focused on the Greater Good, but this is mere speculation, and no evidence of this has yet been found.
the tau do have psykers in their empire. it's a different species that they have assimilated.
+Dan Thompson i know but still it is a different race even if they are in the tau empire and work for the greater good
+MrSupergambo the tau is the sum of their parts. they do know about the warp. their ships break into it by sheer power of technology.
+Dan Thompson and what is your point becouse i never said they would have no warp engines or could not enter the warp and as far as i know all races with the exception of Necrons and Tyranids in 40k capable to travel through the warp use at least some kind of technology and by the way the warp travel which the tau are capable of is not very efficient compared to other races.
The Tau, because they lack psykers as a race, are incapable of fully entering the warp. However, based on duplicating the warp drive from an unknown alien vessel they have found a way of 'diving' towards the warp, extending the field of their drive into a wing shape designed to hold their vessel in the warp, before being hurled into real space again like a ball held under water and then released. While this is much slower, by a factor of five when compared to Imperial jump speed, it is a lot safer because they do not enter the warp deep enough to become exposed to any of its dangers, and is also much more predictable as their speed works out to a consistent rate. Nevertheless, this limited form of warp travel has resulted in the Tau Empire being closely packed around their home system.
+MrSupergambo they use another race within their empire that can jump further than the empire. just like the empire, the tau are a sum of their parts.
Good video dude, I am not a huge 40k fan but still entertaining non the less.
fun fact when i was really really really little when dawn was war came out, I thought they were robots, but they were just heavily armored
who remembers playing the old fire warrior game?
+Jasmin Ross Yes i remember that game. The graphics were pretty bad
yes and it was had to aim
It wasn't too bad once you got the hang of it. I liked how the made the space marines the bad guys.
I think they space marines became chaos spacemarines.
I think your right. Didn't it turn out that the ethereal was possessed buy a chaos god or something.
subbed, i love these little bits of info on WH40K. I'm new to this world, and so far i love it!
How did the tau hold their own against the tyranid hive fleet? compared to the imperium of man?
Gotta do something about that mike. That puffing sensation had me thinking something was wrong with my headphones.
The bumping/popping noise on this was very hard to deal with, great content and I know its an old vid but that my small review
man, those thumps... I couldn't watch over firs few minutes, it's so damn annoying if using headphones
Love the video use to play with tau when I played 40k keep up gd work
I love yours videos great job
Sudden thought. Are the Tau possible de-evolved sub race of the Old Ones?
+RavenRyy Another theory is that the Eldar created them specifically made them detached from the Warp so they wouldn't fall to Chaos and meet the same fate as the Eldar.
+Sameinaður Norðurlöndin yes, I am still reading the rise of the Tau fan fiction and was blown away by how much it makes sense
+RavenRyy From what I've read thought the lore the old ones are explained more like the lizard men of warhammer fantasy, but this would be an interesting twist. I know its unlikely but i would love to see games workshop progress the 40k universe a little and explain more about the war in heaven
OneMindSyndicate
It was just something suddenly struck me. The Old Ones, facing extinction would try and find a way around it wouldn't they?
@@Supahpowahnerd890 I think only the Old Ones were advanced enough to create new lifeforms.
This is Amazing i hearing this while waiting for my new Tau :)
These weird thumps are really off-putting. I imagine anyone painting their armies while listening to this would fudge up their color schemes ;p
fact #82 humans live in the tau empir Gue'vesa
im guessing you mean symbols from thier home planet and not home galaxy
+kris220b we all live in the milky way galaxy
+James Pinkman yeah but saying tau has differnt symbols on thier armor based on wich galaxy does not fit
then they would all have the same
i know that each tau sept and/or planet has different colors and symbols of some kind
+James Pinkman except the Tyranid, they are the only EXTRATERRESTRIAL race in 40k, which means they come from outside our universe, it even says they tear holes into our universe and then go to consume worlds.
IDyce88 nom nom
+IDyce88 In 40k even the Imperium is Extraterrestrial, that just means not from earth hah, but yeah
Them not being exposed to the warp doesn't make them immune, or nullify the warps affects, they are actually vulnerable to the warp, the only other faction that doesn't use the warp are the necrons, and they were also vulnerable to it, than they turned into immortal robots and made machines that nullified the warps affects.
the tau are just dishonorable they don't even fight in mele!
and they have a vagina on their forehead
Sidar Erdem why are you so mean?
Sidar Erdem no i don't
Sidar Erdem srsly i don't
Sidar Erdem lol i'm just joking around you know and they're not peacfull they are fighting for the "greater good" and we don't even know what that is! and if they were peacfull they would not fight
Fancy suits of body amour, still does jack all in melee
Seems legit
If you can actually get into melee range and there are no Kroot around. Assuming a Battlesuit doesn't just leap away.
Tau armour is meant to ressemble samurai gear, not dreadnought suits.
I think he meant the bigger ones, like the broadside suits.
The Tau are easily the coolest race of W40k. Just look at those badasses.
*YES INQUISITOR, THIS POST RIGHT HERE*
i loved warhammer fantasy as a child (early-mid 90's) and i had a 5k chaos army. sadly, the fact that every race in the 40k universe looked so "medievalish" or epic fantasy dimmed my interest for that universe completely. however when i first saw the tau i was drooling, too bad the writers did some weird things with the story, thus angering fanboys and tau admirers are just commie weebs :/
If black templars just really wanted to they could wipe them
A templar lore would be cool.
good video i enjoyed listening, you need to get a spit guard, there were tonnes of sound spikes
Aren't the Tau actually the 40k counterpart of the Fantasy Woodelves?
i got the pc game and played it once! seemed different than others, did not know it is related to war hammer, a game i never played. so how far did all this go?
+dragdragon23 40k is extremely deep
OneMindSyndicate thanks, I'll look it up and learn more!
So far The Imperium and Tau Empire are my favorite races in Warhammer 40K
+Ken Catus they are the "good guys"
fact 81Tau actively use some AI in one of their titan's fact 82 the pilots of said titans that use the AI are know to become antisocial and relate more to the AI.
I know this is an 'old' video, but I recommend you re do videos such as these :) Mainly the ones that go *speaking* thump *speaking*
I tempted to make my own faction in Warhammer 40k just for fun :D
Fact 81: "They can't even fight in melee!!!!!!"- Little Kitten: The emp's personal caretaker.
Buy a pop shield for the mic.
where can i find what races could be voted for in 2001
It would be cool if the Kroot were their own race.
They would have some pretty cool buildings and new troops that look like Dinosaur/ Primitive Aliens.
+Michael Lange They were in 5th edition. It was not a hardcover codex but they did have all the units slots available to create its own army
I gladly give my life for THE GREATER GOOD...
no explanation for the strange face crevice. Honestly that was the only fact I was hoping to hear about.
How could I miss that channel?
It's well known actually none of the tau including ethereals have any psychic ability or connection, it's written in a lot of the fluff and is included within many of the games aswell. This is also why they can not be corrupted by the warp
+crisisgear I think someone mentioned this already in the comments but it is speculated that the tau were created to fight the chaos. I don't know if that is canon.
James Cameron's AVATAR 1-3 (2009-2018) An't Got Nothing On This!
Stopped listening after fact one where you mentioned them being as superpower. Either it was an innocent mistake or you really cannot take them into perspective. Yes it was hard to do so, but at least I went straight to your other video back then. :)
I was building my Tau while listening not painting
Savage level 1000
The tau seem like the only group in 40K that isn't just horrific. Also I might not completely detest living within this group.
The Bob Ross of Warhammer 40k facts.
+Colt Scrabbleborough Esquire haha its an honor to be compared to a legend. Now if you'll excuse me I'm going back to painting these happy little orkz
Why not just make a cohesive lore video instead of breaking it down into 80 little facts without interconnection?
I beat my friends assault marines with the tau in melee combat in dawn of war
I have a 1998 edition of the Warhammer 40k rulebook which has a picture of a Kroot hunter.
"Master of Ordinance!
If a Tau or one of their cringing human slaves comes shambling within range of our Basilisk batteries, gibbering about the greater good, I want his filthy Xeno kissing hide blown sky high.
Do I make myself clear?"
Whatever happens, we have got The Emperor’s blessing. They have not.
+Stefan Bäckman true dat
+Turbukolos You mean the corpse that's sitting on the golden toilet?
what you say is Blasphemy!!!
you sound like heretic
Can't you see you are being misguided by the false emperor? Chaos Gods are the true master!
The Emperor points, and we obey,
Through the warp and far away.
The hammerhead tank looks like a aat from starwars
did i understand it right... as long you belief in the "greater good" you are more or less immune to chaos corruption... so even as a human?
A somewhat serious question do the Orcs, Tyranids, Tau and other races can be influenced by Chaos if yes are they called by other names or have drastic changes to their appearance?
Yes they can all be tainted by chaos and they change in appearance.
But the are still called by their original name
would be called chaos tainted
Yes they would for example be called burgle possessed orkz
Now that i think about it i dont think tau can be tainted by chaos
Eh-Thee-ree-all is the right pronounciation for that Caste, so speaketh Shasolenzabi! Piranha and Tetra from FW came from a discussion I and others had on the old defunct GW website, we thought of a one vehicle that did the mission but they made the it into Tetra (pure scout and marker vehicle). Piranha was the attack craft.
*Makes a video" Should I check to make sure the audio is good before I upload? Nah I'm sure it's fine.
Wait, what? The Tau are going to be the 5th race in Eternal Crusade.... O.O' hahahaha HAHAHAHAHAAAA This is going to be awesome.
Oh yeah! My vox casters are pippering and poppering!!!
"Flat noseless faces" made me think of Voldemort.
well I know my tactics for the tau, big fuckers in back scouts in front supported by armour or distraction units
I'm curious as to the other army designs that the Tau were chosen over. Is there anywhere to see them?
tau are half fish half cow
If I led the Tau... I'd get out of the Milky Way galaxy.
Tyranids alone are good enough reason to bail.
Hmm... Fact 47 suggests that Tau have colonies in the next galaxy which i have never heard of.
