Most textured hair people use oil, grease some type of moisture product and this prevents lice infestation. It is nearly impossible for them to latch on and grow their community
Thank you so much for this I am going to try this cause I don’t know if I have them or not but can you tell me if I do My head always is itching and I have dandruff and always a dry scalp and my hair is always oily and my neck is red and it always feels like there are tiny things like on my head biting me and I always feel like a tingle like then walking around my head but I never see them and there are red bumps on my head
Never heard or know of a black person to have lice. We use sooooo much products, that I don't think they could get to feed of the blood due to the way the scalp is coated with oils.
Blk people normally do NOT. We are the only people with the DNA that does not attract lice. How are you getting them? Who are you around? Lice do not attach to our hair. Plus, we put oil in our hair.
This is very interesting. I'm a licensed beautician and I have never in my 13 years or non licensed hair days, run across lice in any black person hair. I have never physically seen them either. Normally that's not something we get. Now we can catch it from someone. We keep so much artificial products in our hair, Lice don't like that. They like natural oils and debis on hair and scalp. So this very surprising to come across this problem. 🤔
Fun fact: Lice have different species and different pincer shapes, depending on the region in which they live. The shape of the pincer determines which hair type is likely to get infected by them. Lice in the US have pincers that attach best to circle and oval shaped hair (Type 1 & 2). So non-black people are most likely to suffer from lice infestation. Lice in Africa have pincers that attach best to crescent shaped hair (Type 3 & 4). So black people are more likely to suffer from an infestation in any of those countries. That’s why so many of you have never/rarely seen a black person with lice in the US. Even when they’ve been homeless for years. Another fun fact: Wherever you live with a lice infestation, get your hands on some neem powder and yogurt and make yourself a hair mask. You’re welcome ❤. Also great for mosquito bites.
So, as some who has had lice five times and has really long hair, it basically feels like mosquito bites on your head and finding “dandruff” that sticks to your head
Also guys js to let yall know ppl with afro hair, they dont get lice. Its very hard to get nits and lice when you have textured afro hair, so dont worry! ❤
I had lice once when my cat went outside and caught some during spring. I knew she was infested at that point, but I was giving her an anti-lice topical medication and had put all fabrics that she had been in in the washing machine. Then a single louse (it's louse singular right...?) fell from one of my hair strands. I went into EeeEeeek mode and immediately washed my hair with half shampoo and half acv, I had let it stay on my head for 30 minutes first. That was the first thing I read online and fortunately it did the trick. I did not have (yet?) any itching sensation but the idea of being a host to lice is just disgusting and irritating to me. Now all my cats have anti-lice collars and since then I never have had problems again.
Hi I enjoy your channel and respect your opinion on afro hair. I recently watched a video by Natural Nadine she states that most African American hair is high porosity by nature, when a lot of us are thinking our hair is low porosity (if it hasn't been relaxed or color treated). She references crime scene investigations where police can determine the race of a suspect based on their hair noting that most African American hair has raised cuticles ( high porsity). Please comment
Great question. That is very true when you’re compare our hair to the hair of other races. But, with our race there are variations in porosity. Also, just b/c the very most outer layer of you’re curled are lifted doesn’t always mean that you’re hair is “high” in porosity. You have to take into account how thick that actual hair strand is and how many cuticle layers the hair strand has.
I would suppose that the thighter curled the hair, the more it is prone to be or become high porosity, but what do I know? It's only one factor in deciding porosity and there are others. I have wavy hair (high type 2 though I rarely let it be defined) that is naturally high porosity. My dad has curly hair that is high porosity too. My aunt (his sister) has curly hair but I would guess low porosity (kapha type, always defined curls and 'fatty'). Their curl tightness is similar but their different porosities make for hair that looks and behaves differently. I can see for example the different look in type 4 hair types based on porosity, Green Beauty has low porosity hair so her hair looks 'heavy', oily and juicy (in a good way) while for example Indigenous Strands has high porosity hair that is a bit lighter in color (sebum makes hair look a bit darker) and has more volume and wants to expand more. So type 4 hair can come in a range of porosities as well and it sure looks like Green Beauty's type 4 hair is less porous than my type 2 hair if I go judging by visual cues. Lately I have been using henna and it looks like my hair porosity has been lowered a bit, which is what I wanted, as high porosity hair is naturally more fragile, so if you have high porosity and want to have more resilient hair that doesn't dry too fast, it is an option. On the other hand, I'd like to ask Green Beauty if in her opinion the type 4/Afro hair type always has at least some Vata.
There’s a lot of people who think black people don’t get lice, I used to be one of those people until my son and my brother got them! We never figured out where they came from so I make sure to frequently inspect especially if my child complains of itchiness.
Me who just did an inspection by five different people and they didn’t find lice. : 😃👏 Me who still feels itchy and just pulled out a lice bug from my hair : 😃😡 This happened like 4 years ago
Thank you for the information on different hair types! As a kid, I had lice a lot. Always passing around school, no matter how many times my dad got rid of them, I'd get them again. Now I've been lice free for 9 years lol. Definitely DON'T miss that shit
The only thing that happened like this was when: I thought I had this scab on my head but then I took it off and looked at it for a second then threw it, it looked like a tick but it looked like this, it was just black. And a little later I had a bump on my head so? Pls tell me was it a tick or lice?

Yes I have seen it with swirlers only. Why bring BP up? Just get some tips on how to get rid of yours. We only see swirlers with bedbugs & lice in the black community!! Lice isn't original to black people so stop! I see they put a black figure on the video playing WW part 😂 but they don't want a black mermaid though, SMH, lol
I have curly CURLY hair. When I went to my cousins house when I was like 5 my mom didn’t know they ALL had lice and I got it.. long story short we were in the bathroom for 5 hours picking the lice out of my hair
They don’t get lice because they put all the oils and other stuff that stinks in their hair. But if your black and don’t put much oils or no oils at all you’ll get lice

Most black women are not natural, so most black women in a crime scene would be non-natural…hence, high porosity…
Great answer that makes a lot of sense thank you for your response
